Vegeta Figures Have Come A LONG Way Since 1999

- #Vegeta the Prince of all Saiyans is one of the most iconic characters from the Dragon Ball franchise and as a result, he's had a wide variety of action figures made of him over the years. Few versions of Vegeta are better than Namek Vegeta, which saw him defeat a slew of Frieza's henchman, terrorize Gohan, Krillin and Bulma and show signs of becoming the Z fighter we all grew to love in subsequent Dragon Ball Z sagas.
Today, I'll take a look at the 1999 Irwin Toys Saiyan Armor Vegeta and compare him to the 2024 #SHFiguarts 24,000 Power Level Vegeta action figure. Along the way, I'll discuss my memories of my old toy and look back at some of the storylines that this version of Vegeta was connected to during the Namek saga, which is my favorite Dragon Ball Z arc. Enjoy the action figure review! #ActionFigures

I'm really loving this comparison series! This is such a cool and unique experience to compare these older figures with the modern ones. This new S.H. Figuarts Vegeta is REALLY COOL! Awesome video!
@M.A.Sketchbook thank you Matt! Doing these videos really takes me back to the good Ole days when we would watch DBZ after school and play with all the old school figures.
Who doesnt used those old figures for make them fight around the house?
Even with the new ones, when Im bored, I take two and play 😅 But it makes me happy
I remember picking a WWF Goldberg figure over this Vegeta figure as a kid and regretting it. I finally picked it up on ebay like over a decade later and was so happy
@@jsplaythroughs oh wow! I'm glad you finally got your hands on one. That line of figures was so great back in the day. Thanks for watching!
I had so many figures from this line. Man, good memories. Thanks for this !!!
Very cool! Same here. It was such a fun toy line. So happy to hear you enjoyed the video.
0:14 Kakarot i dont feel so go-turns into a action figure
I still have the 90’s Vegeta and my memory as a kid with it was fighting the 90’s Freeza
@Fourstardragonball yes! See I didn't have the Freiza from this line as a kid, but defintiley had him fighting Goku and the other figures.
That vegeta from the 90s was the first one i had when I was a kid. I wish I still had it
If you wanted to you could grab one eBay. The sealed one I bought was like $34 bucks, but loose ones are way cheaper.
My favorite look for Vegeta was the Cell Saga look.Looking back at the show my favorite era of the art is between the end of Dragon Ball and when Trunks arrives.
So now this is my favorite look for Vegeta.
Your site isn't working for me. I was interested in seeing how much your backdrops are.
Thanks so much for watching and leaving a comment! Those are some great choices! I'm sorry the site isn't working. I do also have them available via ebay here: www.ebay.com/usr/vasco48_sc
The large backdrops are $60 plus shipping and the detolf sized ones are $30 each plus shipping. Backdrops have a 2-3 week lead time because they are professionally printed by a third party.
Good ole sticky elf ears Vegeta lol
Definitely a big fan of the Namek)Freiza saga, i love the S.H version if Vegeta & the old school one is nostalgic for sure!
@hyrulegend9786 🤣🤣🤣 I was so surprised when I opened him and discovered he was sticky. Not sure what that was about! Awesome! I really appreciate you watching and glad the video brought you back from a nostalgia standpoint.
@@vascotoys For sure guess it's one of those things with aging, he's been trapped in that box for years or was lol 😆Yeah I'm a big sucker for nostalgia 💕
dude awesome video and comparison, but man it did hurt seeing you open that sealed copy 😅, you can get them loose and still do the comparison, so there will be more sealed in the wild lol, also the aging and stickiness is prob cause they storage the fig in a hot storage no ac or sun exposure
I understand what you mean. I couldn't find any loose ones that had the saiyan armor and that's the only reason I went with a sealed one. It felt like comparing the two Vegetas without the clip on saiyan armor would have been incomplete.
I feel shfiguarts has had to step up their game because of all the third party creators. There are a lot of people making really great head sculpts and figures. Glad to competition driving progression. Also seeing that old school Vegeta brought back so many memories. I too collected those when I was a kid. I wish they would make a figure where you can take the armor of like that old one.
You are so right! The third party companies have caused SHF to step it up.
Awesome! These old DBZ figures were so much fun.
I had a ss3 goku figure like that it was so cool
@@leroyowers9946 awesome! I showed the Super Saiyan 3 Irwin toys goku in my SS Goku comparison video that is part of this series.
Dragon Ball Super Battle Collection is the true best 90's dragon ball figure
Thanks for watching and sharing your opinion! That figure was such a great part of my childhood.
Man I really need that prince of all saiyans
He's such a good figure! Great for any DBZ collector.
No wonder the armor is non removable on the modern vegeta figures since the armor would come off very easily and therefore many people lost it, and without it he looks like he’s wearing kids jammies
@@darknessmechainvader4960 🤣🤣🤣 that' so funny, but so true!
Hello, your videos are great, do you have any tricks for creating dbz power effects?
Thanks so much! I actually have never tried to make a DBZ effect. I mostly focus on making dioramas.
Who will be the next character in this series?
It will either be 100% Full Power Frieza or "Teen" Gohan.
frieza looked horrendous! He kinda looked like that giant gray monster from The Amazing World Of Gumball.
@@Batsyboodlebum123 don't worry, his turn is coming...
@@vascotoys HELL YEAH
His shoulders tho on full power. HIS SHOULDERS ARE BASKETBALLS
@@vascotoys also qui might make a release
@@Batsyboodlebum123 SHF Cui is actually shipping right now for those that pre ordered.
What's with all the spooky music?
The background music I chose sounds like Bruce Faulconer's style music from when Dragon Ball Z was on Toonami. That's why I used it.
I need the ape form Vegeta
Ohhhh yes, very cool version of Vegeta for sure. I chose to pass on the SHF jumbo figure that was released a few years ago because of space and the price on it.
So it doesn't have the tail? that neck gap is hideous. No figure is perfect but the super hero vegeta is not that bad.
No it doesn't have a tail because Vegeta's tail was cut off before the Namek Saga. I'm really not a fan of the Vegeta Super hero face plates.
@@vascotoys I know but this vegeta has on the box the power level he got when he arrived to earth with nappa so, I guess it should include the tail, he even has the face he made when he was facing goku's kamehameha, he includes a scouter when on namek he stopped using it. SHF announced a new vegeta with the darker blue suit he had when he died on namek so, another reason for this one to include a tail.
@trickjacko8482 I think Vegeta's power level during the Saiyan Saga is 18,000. He defintiley doesn't hit 24,000 until he gets to Namek. They make a big deal about his power level being specfically that level during the fight with Cui. Also the Armor on Namek doesn't have the hip and crotch guard.
Also, Vegeta does have the scouter during the very first part of the Namek Saga. He destroyed it in front of Dodoria because he says he doesn't need it anymore.
