@Jeff Herdzina I am fully aware about volunteer depts needs. You will also hear on paid dept that they don't get enough. Schools, govt, everyone says they don't get enough, and most would laugh at how little a volunteer dept runs on. I think the budget of the last dept I was on, was less than $15k annually.

Really great and entertaining way of displaying the differences between uniform fabric and how they keep you safe! You're such an inspiration! Please keep up the great videos, you're the biggest reason I'm aiming to become a firefighter! Thank you!
Milliken knows what's up! If I were a Firefighter, I'd go with the garb that can take a straight up blasting from a flamethrower. This should set the new standard, it could save lives.
Not a firefighter but work around many of them. I have heard the new stuff doesn't let you feel the heat, and when it does, it's too late and your burning up.
My granny used to work for Milliken! She also built bombs for the government in WW2. I guess she spent part of her life helping stop fires and part helping start them.
My towns full time fire department QUIT this winter because the town refused to pay for critical repairs to equipment. They were still rocking bunker gear from the 80s, and half the trucks were out of commission pending repairs. Can't say I've ever worked with a firefighter I trusted enough to let me back out of a vehicle compartment. Drug you coffee and lock you in one, however, I have met several I would expect it of.
Not gonna lie, those compartments are actually pretty cozy. I loved hanging out in empty ones whenever we had an out of service unit in the maintenance bay. Great places to hide away and chill.

had heat exhaustion in August, in FL doing two-a-days. couldnt finish 2nd one. rested, fluids, head in shower, about 45min back to it, but just helped with hoses.
Our training gear is the old junk that works and gets abused. The gear in my bag though is super light, easy to don and doff, and breaths to much better.
This one looked painful. First the guy catching a water stream to the face and then Fenton being inside the storage compartment while the door gets slammed.
The only problem with fabric that breaths is the carcinogens that accompany the air. That’s why we use Lion Redzone. Like a double wrapped baked potato in that stuff. Hell I wish it breathed.
So that is where you store the emergency, Fenton. I knew they had to protect that mustache somewhere. Wait....it can't be......is this Miliken fabric actually made from Fenton's mustache hairs?!?!?!?!

Has that made other risk factors increase? How do you guys measure the cost-benefit? While reducing PFAS in gear may lower cancer rates (the #1 killer of firefighters), will it increase other causes of death, like cardiac arrest, dehydration, or burns?
Fenton in the unicorn costume could be a video in itself!
😆
Alright who gave them a flamethrower???
I can't unsee that. LOL! 🦄
@@FireDeptCoffeeWhat bet did he lose?

The fact that "Not the best clothing" is something that even gets considered shows how underfunded the services are
Huh, the hospital makes us my scrubs imagine buying gear. That be a expensive
You know you can overfund a dept by millions of dollars, and everyone would complain about how underfunded the dept is

I didn’t know that the different firefighter outfits actually mattered like that.

That looks more like a torch than a flame thrower cause it's not really sticking very well.

Furries are already wearing cooling vests under their suits, and some have small ventilating fans in their heads.
