    My experience with UnderSun started on a bad note, but after giving a 2nd chance and receiving EXCELLENT support from customer support to get my band replaced, it has been one of my favorite home workout items to build muscle at home. If you have the bands, what do you think?

      Read the review from one of the few 1-star reviews. He said his band broke after 30 days and when he contacted Amazon Support he was told he was outside the 30-day window for a replacement. How were you able to get Amazon to replace your broken band after 2 months?

    • @GamerBody
      @GamerBody  3 роки тому

      They were perfectly fine replacing mine. I think I had a 5 year warranty though...he only got 30 days?

    • @jefffreeman7577

      @@GamerBody That's what he said. After looking at the UnderSun website we found that their bands have a lifetime warranty, only have to pay a small shipping charge. So, sounds like Amazon should have referred the man directly to UnderSun for a replacement. We have decided to order directly from UnderSun vs. Amazon as we got a $15 off coupon when we clicked on a product and think it will be easier to get replacements, if needed, through UnderSun directly. Thank you for you very informative video, it helped us to choose our product.

    Thanks to your earlier videos I bought the bands, bar and step setup. I am 56 and a former powerlifter. I can't take the pounding of the heavy weights anymore. This setup allows me to lift heavy resistance without the stress on my joints. I particularly like being able to do heavy overhead presses with the step and bar setup. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.

      Yeah it's been a game changer for me. I really like having this as my "heavy" lifts and then still incorporate the unilateral movements which I am looking to put into more of my future plans with the bands.

    Really enjoyed your videos. Thanks. I am a 79 year old geezer who is fighting Father Time by using X-3, UnderSun, and now your videos. I have never gotten completely out of shape. First was the USMC and Vietnam, then karate learned in Japan, then the traditional gym after that and now resistance bands, which I believe are the best system to stay in shape. Thank you, and James Grage and others who share their knowledge with the public, and provide us with the knowledge to live a better life.

    I really like your channel name. This is something I teach my little brother: Rather than sit through a game-queue staring at the screen, we get up and get a set in..
    I tell him he can play games and be overweight, unhappy, and not know what to do about it, or he can play games and stay ripped (and have the benefits).
    He's tough, so he learned quick. I think its cool to find you already do this, and you named your channel after the practice.

    • @GamerBody
      @GamerBody  3 роки тому +4

      Haha yes I still play every day. I can't sit all day like I used to as I have to work, but I still get in at least 3-5 games of halo or about an hour of play in a game I am working my way through. I used to play 5+ hours a day, but since turning 30, it's tough to do that with other responsibilities.
      It is awesome you are helping your little brother see that you can have a great body and still play games. It is the main reason I started the channel. My goal right now is to find what someone like you and your brother can focus on for the best results, at home, in little time.
      Keep up the great work and let me know if you have any questions you want a video on :)

    I have been using this type of bands for 4 years
    I'm 77. I have 3 sets of them
    1 for home
    1 for outdoor
    1 for the swimming pool.
    I do not.... Have any sort of routine.
    I use the as often has I feel like and where I feel like.
    That's the beauty of using bands. Anywhere. Anytime.
    And it works
    The trick is.
    Exercise enough and often.
    Then you have to build strength and muscle.

      I've had plenty of Bodylastics bands snap. It seems as they age, they are prone to tearing. I've had handles pull off the end. Even with newer bands, I had them snap. Bodylastics replaced them, I had to pay for the shipping. Was thinking of the UnderSun bands, but not so sure now.

    Pre-COVID lockdown, I was in the gym strength training 3-4 times a week like clockwork. I discovered Undersun when lockdown took place, looking for some way to keep up strength training when stuck at home. Since lockdowns has lifted, I honestly haven't been back to the gym. I've stuck to training with my Undersun bands. I'm able to maintain, along with improve my overall form. I'm now in my late-40s. I also have to take into account that moving from pounding heavy weights in the gym to band training overall is going to help prevent the wear and tear that can come with standard strength training. I travel quite a bit for both work and pleasure, and they go everywhere with me.
    I've refreshed my Undersun bands through one cycle, and I did have to deal with one band having premature wear. However, overall I'm extremely satisifed with them. I think anyone like me, who wants to maintain/improve fitness at middle age, should keep a set handy.

    Great review again :). I bought the undersun camo bands just because I really think James Grage’s info reg resistance bands is so good. Kind of a payback for all free youtube films. Also have the innstar bar , and as of yesterday I have the x3 bar. One question; did you ever try bodylastics tube bands? To me they offer supreme quality for tube bands. I don’t even use the thickest band, partly since the other bands are quite heavy as well, partly since the thickest band is .... well thick. Not so comfortable under the feet.

    • @GamerBody
      @GamerBody  3 роки тому +4

      Second person today for the bodylastic bands. I'm moving away from the tube style for my bar setup and exercises. While they did a great job in the past, the loop ones fit best into my current programming. But, I may test them in the future as people really love them.
      Let me know how you like the X3 bar. It's what got me started on my quest to find a similar setup for less money, but I wonder how you will like it.

    You can do a lot with a plain old length of steel pipe. Just loop the bands over the pipe.
    You could also bolt on hook eyelets. Or closed loop eyelets plus carabiners or equivalents.
    With the right tools (or taking the pipe to the right shop or person), you could even bend the ends of the pipe to form an integral hook for holding the bands.

      I think a great place to start is the video I have on gamerbody.com. The only issue you will have is the pull-down unless you have an anchor point for your resistance bands. If you don't I recommend doing a seated row, and a high-bent over row. For the seated row, bring the hands towards the waist. For the bent over row, bring the hands up more towards the chest for the upper/mid back.

Grage's content is really good. Anti-vibration gloves have extra padding. They are used by jackhammer operators. They work well with loop-style resistance bands.
      Regular thick leather gloves also work very well, and they breathe better. They work fine for low and moderate levels of resistance. For really high levels of resistance you might want doubled gloves.

    In regards with bands do you think that the more often you used the bands the lesser the resistance or is it just that different bands has different tension even though the same thickness and length?

    • @GamerBody
      @GamerBody  2 роки тому

      The bands are tougher the wider and thicker they are (at least for loop bands). Tube bands the thicker the band the toilet it is. I'd assume after a long time it may lessen the resistance, but after a year I can't tell and as long as you are reaching to or close enough to failure you will stimulate th muscles to grow.

      @@GamerBody Thanks for your fast reply man! I'm considering buying the undersun set of 3 bands and the gloves for my X3 bar. I'm currently struggling doing overhead press with the white band which is 10-50 pounds. Only can do 8 full reps. I wanted to do more reps with proper form so am looking for lighter bands and good gloves. Am also considering the Barehand gloves. The undersun set of 3 bands has the 15-35 pounds. Maybe that will be a good option?

    • @GamerBody
      @GamerBody  3 роки тому

      Possibly. Why are you looking to do more reps? If you are maxing at around 8 that is certainly a good number to work with imo. However, maybe you have something else in mind.

      @@GamerBody John from X3 says that I have to do minimum of 15 reps for each exercise, if not go to the lighter band. However my lightest band is 10-50 pounds. So that’s why I’m thinking to get a lighter band to train before moving to the white band.

    • @GamerBody
      @GamerBody  3 роки тому +1

      The only thing that really matters is reaching enough stimulus regardless of rep range. A rep range is just a target, not the end goal. Your muscles don't care that it is 5 or 15 reps, it just needs the stimulus to decide to build stronger than before.
      I like something between a 5-15 and normally start at 5 and work my way up to 15 with the same resistance over time. This helps provide progressive overload.
      John has some shady information (definitely don't build muscle 3x faster with bands), but bands can work. A moderate rep range with controlled rep tempo to avoid injury and not go super long should be the end goal :)

    How often can you do band exercises on the same muscle group? Everyday? Or do I need to rest 48 hrs?

    • @GamerBody
      @GamerBody  Рік тому +1

      This depends. If you are going to failure, you may need a day or more to recover. If you are just doing reps for the sake of it, probably every day. It will come down to how fast you recover based on your genetics and the intensity of effort you put the muscles through. A way to gauge this is are you able to do the same or more reps the next day? If so, you aren't training hard enough.

  • @SaemGhani
    @SaemGhani 3 роки тому

    When doubling up bands so you have them on separate carabineers or the same one? I'm finding the bands stick to each other and that stretches them unevenly, any tips? This is when looping them through for squats and overhead press.

    • @GamerBody
      @GamerBody  3 роки тому +1

      The bands lay on top of one another in the same triangle link. Are you using carabiners or the triangle links? For overhead press, I put one side of the band under the platform I stand on and let the other run through the carabiners (otherwise it is impossible to get overhead). As I get setnlvin standing position, the bands correct themselves (at least for me). I recommend setting it as lose to even as possible before going into position then it should set as you do your first rep.

    • @GamerBody

      No they don't, they just have a different resistance curve (variable but linear). Your muscles still recruit the fibers in the same manner (small to large) depending on muscle fatigue during the exercise and amount of force output required. What makes them stimulate any different way? You still have to provide enough tension and stress to produce a response.
