    ・・・・・・・
    With this new, affordable Chromebook from Lenovo - the 12-inch IdeaPad Flex 3i - I’ll just go ahead and say it: these new Intel Alder Lake-N Chromebooks are here to change the game in the low-cost Chromebook space. And if you are anything like me and love the feeling of getting a great deal on a solid piece of tech, then you’re going to want to check this one out.
    I don’t care if it spoils the review, I need to say this right up front: for the money, there are few devices I’ve enjoyed using this much. This new Flex 3i isn’t perfect and it doesn’t get everything right, but with $349 as the starting price, it doesn’t really have to. For this kind of price, I’m always ready to forgive cut corners here and there, and with this latest from Lenovo, I just find the overall corner-cutting less aggravating than usual. And that makes for a very good Chromebook experience.

    GREAT VIDEO. STILL ROCKING MY GALAXY CHROMEBOOK 2 WHICH HASN'T FAILED ME YET. The screen is still vibrant, and it still has updates until 2030. The flex 3i looks like a great device tho. Keep up the good work.

    This one on sale on or after Black Friday is going to be very compelling if it starts going under $250 which I fully expect to see. Two years ago I got around that time an Ideapad Flex 3 and for $99 it's become more or less my daily driver. I still use my Acer 713 for heavier workloads, but I definitely got my bang for the buck on that Ideapad Flex. I'll be very excited to upgrade to this come the holiday season, especially the 8gb ram version.

    Hey Robbie, nice review as usual. I've used lower end chromebooks with entry level processors, but once i graduated to my current chromebook the Acer 713 with and i5 11th gen processor and 8gb or ram and a 256 gb SSD, it also has an amazing keyboard, screen, and an all metal build. It did cost a bit more that this one, but once you've used a device like the 713 there's no going back and I really believe spending the few extra hundred dollars is worth it.

    • @ZackMorris1
      @ZackMorris1 Рік тому +1

      Yep my 713 other than the speakers is the best laptop I own by far in terms of speed, screen, and build quality. I won't ever go back to 16:10 once you've experienced that 3:2 aspect ratio that comes with the 713. That's the main reason I see no point in upgrading to the 714. That being said I probably use an ideapad flex I got on black Friday 2 years ago for $100 more than my 713. I baby my Acer. That $100 Chromebook I lug it around the house, throw it in my backpack, use it at the bar if I feel like doing late afternoon work with a pint. It's just a solid little workhorse. I don't do heavy work on it, but I do light tasks and it's worth every penny. When this Chromebook that Robby reviewed goes on Holiday sale this fall/winter, I'll probably pick it up if nothing else is better at the expected price point. I also really dig that blue color!

    On the subject of using a pen with this -- can any decent set-up be arranged? I need to have a Chromebook Touch 2-in-1 that lets me use a pen so I can draw stuff to shoot up on the classroom's big screen via a Mac Mini. I'm doing trig and geometry, so being clear and accurate is a top consideration.

    Unfortunately other than that model there isn't any lightweight compact sized chromebooks with decent screens out there, however models with 13.3" are only slightly bigger due to narrow borders and not that much expensive either.

    Regarding keyboard - no docking required , but just use a USB C gamer mechanical switch gamer keyboard and Bluetooth mouse. Unlike laptops that don't have a tent mode or screen-front, keyboard behind option, it's easy to find space in front of the screen for your accessory keyboard.

    So here are my thoughts for what they are worth. If you want a chromebook with no pen support then why spend £1000.00 when you can spend £350.00?

    For those who are watching this and are sold on this review, wait for the 8GB RAM model. Chrome is beginning to bloat out; my 8GB Pixelbook Go is now slowing down due to the weight of its features. I use the new performance mode to freeze tabs in the background to stop the machine from grinding to a halt, but that is not a perfect solution as it needs to reload from compressed memory when you return those tabs to the foreground. In fact, my 16GB Pixelbook Go uses 12GB of RAM; just opening it up with five tabs!
    The 4GB version will mean constant reloads if you do not have a basic workflow. The eMMC storage is also a bit meh.

I am a budget to mid Chromebook user, and every 4gb model I bought I had to re sell on ebay due to the limited productivity of multiple browser tabs. I finally got a deal on an hp 15a model with 8gb for under $200 and cannot be happier. So as inciting as the flex 3i looks, I would pass on the base model with 4gb of ram at any price.

      @Rob - Lenovo is the former PC branch of IBM, and they are well known for quality. For those of us who have used an IBM ThinkPad in the past as well as Lenovo laptops, they are typically rock solid. I used my Lenovo laptop for about 8 years until Microsoft stopped updating the OS.
      As for Chromebooks - they are typically more affordable laptops which don't have a hard drive - similar to your Android Tab, but in a laptop form. You can run Android apps on them, Linux, and have access to the Google environment, docs, etc.
