- In this video the build takes a Impressive turn as we start the biggest part of the restoration, cutting the side of the car off and exposing what's underneath, it seems like too much metal being cut out but its only half way through :)

This stuff is awe-inspiring to me. I'm in the middle of a project where I've cut off a rotten outer sill to reveal much more rot inside, and now I feel like I'm in way over my head. I keep watching videos like this as it gives me the confidence to carry on.
Just do one layer at a time :)
Best of luck with your new build.
Why don’t you put it on UA-cam too? Everyone can support your progress. P🇳🇿
I know that feeling! This channel has helped me hugely: Steve and Ryan make it look easy, which it isn’t, but equally it’s not _that_ difficult either if you just take it one piece at a time. You’ll get there 💪
@@philipthoreau3590I keep thinking about it, but whenever I'm at the workshop I get engrossed in what I'm doing and forget all about the fact that I was thinking about videoing it. But I'll try to keep it in mind now that you've mentioned it.
Time always goes by so quickly and then the video ends again. I could watch you for hours. I always learn so much from your sheet metal work.
Thank you :)
That’s why there’s the Playlists so you can watch whole projects episodes back to back!!
Dear Sir, your work and feeling for sheet metal is something that greatly motivates me, I repair much simpler bodies, and you are my role model, even if I will never reach your abilities and possibilities. I look forward to the next video. Czechia
Great work, dont forget to refit the rs spare wheel strap hook to the boot floor and remove the standard strap bracket
Hopefully those who did the original “repairs” will watch the YCR videos and learn! Superb cracking on Steve, as usual.
Thank you :)
As an old Ford Man, who's had a few MK1 Escorts in my time.
It's really good and interesting to see someone doing real 100% first-class work.
It, as usual is a pleasure to watch.
And brings back of my ex's 13Xl and the maintenance I did on it, and wax oil I put on it.
But it was only 3 years old. so, no rust then.
I will look forward to seeing the next video of this RS2000 with great interest as brings back so many good memories 😊 ❤️
Great video you don’t appreciate the amount of time and effort that goes into replacing the panels until you see even more rust to where you are fixing it too
Yes always more to do than meets the eye :)
This is some solid work...love watching you transform these cars.
Thank you we do appreciate the support.
This gentleman is an absolute delight to watch.
Bril!. Nerves of steel (and skill) to cut that classic chasis!. Nuff said. 🙂
This will be the best RS in the country
You put a lot of work into that quarter panel, but what a transformation, your talent is bar none.just continue on doing what you do best,on to the next phase.great video.😎😎😎👍👍👍
Man, that is an impressive amount of cutting, it'll turn out great, awesome work guys!
It's absolutely brilliant and amazing. Steve, I'm glad to see the Rs coming along. I love the channel, enjoying watching the videos of all the projects that you and Ryan are working on ❤
Make sure you cut off the spare wheel tie down bracket and fit the correct RS2000 ones 👍
I just started watching this and it’s over ! It absolutely draws me in watching you do these repairs. About time this channel was made into a regular TV series …brilliant 👌👍
Comparison with car sos would leave that show looking a bit substandard
That is a fantastic 👏 👌 job Steve, I love seeing how cars are constructed it's so neat..hope you guys have a wonderful blessed work week ahead
Noticed the BMW 2800 CS coupe on the ramp, possibly from Jonny Smith's The Late Brake Show? Can't wait to see that being restored.
Great job guys.
Been looking at that for weeks now... that was a great episode 😂
That’s a massive amount of work done there Steve! Trust me I know 😁 you still make this look so easy I know I keep saying this but I really hope I can get nearly as good as you are! Then I would be a happy man. Cheers as always. Steve.
Very inspiring, first impression was ok but as per usually hiding alot of sins from the past. Realy nice to see it redone PROPERLY.
I totally understand your "bad repair" statement. I would much rather work from start than have to come behind someone else's work any day. Thumbs Up!
Splendid! I could watch Steve weld all night long.
Holy just goes to show how the rot gets hidden away, it's going to be a well sorted car
Especially considering this car was only on the road between 1974 and 1989
Ayup Steve looking forward to this hope all the lads are well 👍🏻🇬🇧👏👏👏 superb video Steve loving the tunes as well 🇬🇧👍🏻😉
We are thank you :) hope your the same :)
Wonderfull job, it so hard to cut modeling new metal and weld it.
We don't have this MK1 here in Brazil, so nice car, congrats from that, and thanks for share here on UA-cam!
Master craftsman at work ! Ryan's a lucky young man to have such mentors........respect and awe
Nice to see you using that pricy rust converter,,i just used 2 cans on my m3😅
i want / need more cosmo please please please. i do appreciate all the fantastic work you all do and its truly amazing but the cosmo is the rarest and most alien to you both and there for more of a challenge which makes for great viewing and head scratching with no off the shelf parts available
This channel is brilliant for so many reasons. Namely, insurance. If a customer asks why this that and the third happened, a few million people know why it happened. Noice. Plus, I really wanna learn how to weld and fabricate if only for small lawn mower add-ons or something more major. A true skill. Cheers
The quality of your work is outstanding!! Absolutely love watching your videos. 👍🏻
Brilliant video
What an undertaking just amazing work and this time the music is not too annoying! I came from Colin Furze btw.
A lot of work..but mad skills great to see
Thanks for the video.
best channel on the youtube for me
Great video Steve
i have a 200sx that has seen some better days, these videos do give me inspiration to start working on it. Sadly i dont have a place to work on the car.
Outstanding work Steve - glad you saw my request to put down the Yorkshire tea and chocolate digestives and crack on with this one. Now put the kettle on again !!
Another one for the algorithm. Best wishes.
Great work Steve. Cheers.
Thank you :)
Another really enjoyable video, like the tunes on this one as well. Thanks
Glad you liked them :)
Great video Steve, pure craftsmanship at its best. Looking sharp with the new haircut lad, call you Shawn of the Head 😅
Haha thank you :)
Top job Steve 😊
Thank you :)
Brilliant- thank you
Thank you for watching :)
Well Done!👍
Thank you :)
hi steve great to see I did a rear quarter wings sills to my mrk 1 mexico in the early 80s no mig or tig just oxy acetone cheers steve and was only 17
I bet sims metal must love it when you take a trailer load of old rusty and new off cuts to be recycled
Brilliant as always 👍🏻🇬🇧
Thank you :)
I know I could never afford to use your company however if that ever changed then you guys would be my first call, your skills are amazing. What you can’t do with sheet metal isn’t worth knowing.👍
Yeah, I'm in the same spot, altho' I don't even know if it would be worth it if you can get your hands in a healthy shell somehow.
Is this Triggers RS2000? 😉
Seriously great work you all do there
I've been down this road with Alfas and Jaguar XK-Es, you have to keep cutting until you get back to solid steel. I wish I still had the energy and eyesight at 77 that I did in my 40s to 50s, I'd like to find an Alfa 105 GTV to restore.
Dream job
It is :)
I was sad to see that the surface rust on the wheel Arch mating section wasn't removed & treated before the weld through primer was applied and the arch fitted, it would have been better to have dipped the car despite what you said at Xmas about leaving the inside of seams unprotected as these are too
I like the background music. Please share your music library with your son.
A true Dagenham Dustbin rot box.
At what point is a new shell a better financial option?
How cold does it get in you factory? Love your vids! Keep'em coming please!
Steve, was waiting for an Escort update. Amazing how much you keep uncovering. Will you be completing inner and outer wheel arches before adding on the quarter panel, or just the inner and do the outer once the quarter panel goes on?
I love this right up my street! Just park the music up!!! Dont know wether im watching a car rebuild, or lying on a sunlounger at an all inclusive hotel in turkey🙄🙄 puts me off watching🙄😥😢
Someone would probably pay good money for that quarter panel you cut off
holy cow steve !! when you drill plug weld holes in the replacment parts, are they marked or do you sort of just "know " wher they should be ?
That car is like triggers broom
Almost :)
How's the new sound track!!! Let's fkn gooo!!!
What you need basic stuff to start learning welding on your own car? From where to start?
I wonder what the welder settings are. Each time i try the tinyzap method, i either make a surface weld that isnt strong enough, or burn right through.
Hey, Pop's you need to get yourself a mechanics chair that's not going to do your knees any good.
Of course this is speeded up. But nevertheless we can see that you do this stuff very quick & efficiently. That's experience!
PS you do know you can get new shells from MST.....
A new shell is £18k from MST
I had one of these bought it for £1800 and sold it for £800 ... 😩
When?
A fair few year ago I hope :)
@@yorkshirecarrestoration yeah you know it was a toss up of a yellow Mexico or white and blue stripe RS 2000
I thought this car would be a bit better than the others. Maybe because it was already in primer. However, it developed to your usual disaster cars - with the Datsun taking the lead!
Yes we have our fair share :)
It always shocks me just how bad, patches can be done, it's like some people just don't care or have any pride in their work...
👍👍🚘👍
Really had to peel the onion on that one. What a mess.
La Cosmo?
This this has been parched up so many times, I would have given up by now,,
I dread to think how much this resto is costing, hope the owner isn’t looking to make a profit 😕
So much bodgery upon bodgery!!!
It is actually interresting to watch this work on this rotten car. But one question makes me doubt about the sense of this work : Why not simply find another car in good condition, even if it's not an RS2000, and adapt it? How many hours of work for these repairs versus adaptation? I can understand for a unique model but for a Ford Escort?
But anyway, really good job.
That joint is like pealing back the layers of a rotten onion. Smh
Imagine how bad these Fords are, there’s really not one spot that isn’t rotten away. In the beginning of the 2000’s I worked at a Ford dealer and saw the 2001 Mondeo’s after 1 year with the seems of the doors already rusted. Till this days not a Ford for me.
Why was rust left at the end of the sill behind the inner arch. Not like you guys at all
It will come out when the floor comes out.
@@yorkshirecarrestoration phew. I was so out of character. Thank you
No probs @@Audimad52 👍
The only panels that were original after 5 years on my Mk1 Mexico were bonnet, roof and boot lid!🙄
The same for most mk1s 😁
ALL THIS PLUG WELDING IS NOT DOING MY OCD ANY GOOD.SPOT WELDER QUICKER LOOKS FACTORY LESS CLEAN UP TIME SAVE A FORTUNE ON BELTS AND GRINDING DISCS.....................
would an average guy go THAT FAR?????
Always disappointing to see your lack of facial PPE when cutting with grinder and using power file as well as lack of face PPE and ventilation when welding. You should be setting an example to others, especially the youth watching that may be starting in the industry. Come on guys, do better, your great craftsmanship is let down by your safety failures.
Finally a video of metal work. Not interested, sorry, in videos of you guys pulling a car apart
great work steve, great video, who did your haircut, postman pay ha ha
