Captain EO is a 1986 American 3D science fiction film starring Michael Jackson, written by George Lucas and directed by Francis Ford Coppola (who came up with the name "Captain EO" from the Greek, cf. Eos, the Greek goddess of dawn) that was shown at Disney theme parks from 1986 through 1996. The attraction returned to the Disney Parks in 2010 as a tribute after Jackson's death. The film was shown for the final time at Epcot on December 6, 2015.
The film's executive producer was George Lucas. The film was choreographed by Jeffrey Hornaday and Michael Jackson, photographed by Peter Anderson,[3][4] produced by Rusty Lemorande and written by Lemorande, Lucas and Coppola, from a story idea by the artists of Walt Disney Imagineering. Lemorande also initially designed and created two of the creatures, and was an editor of the film. The score was written by James Horner, and featured two songs ("We Are Here to Change the World" and "Another Part of Me"), both written and performed by Michael Jackson.
The Supreme Leader was played by Anjelica Huston. Cinematographer Vittorio Storaro was the lighting director during much of the principal photography. Captain EO is regarded as one of the first "4D" films (4D being the name given to a 3D film that incorporates in-theater effects, such as lasers, smoke, etc., synchronized to the film).

This was an awesome break from the heat in Anaheim. We would always catch a showing right in the middle of the day from the rides and heat to take a break. Outside the auditorium was A/C. Brings back memories.
This brings back so many memories! We would usually watch at Disneyland in the evening. My little legs tired from walking around all day. I would get so excited watching this preshow while hearing the thumping of the music coming from the Magic Eye Theater. I couldn't wait to get in and even after the show I would be dancing exiting the theater. I miss being a kid!

It brings back so many memories on my first visit to Walt Disney World. It's one of the best 4D shows along with Sesame Street 4D that I've ever seen. I kind of feel bad for the fans that Michael Jackson has passed away in 2009 and the attraction was closed forever in 2014 and 2015 respectively because allegations of child sexual abuse that Michael faced with in 1993 and 2003. I really missed Captain EO along of Sesame Street 4D. These two are my favorite that brings back so many memories at Epcot and SeaWorld San Diego. #sesamestreet4D
(5:18) I like how the logo spins shortly after Michael spins. It’s like the logo is doing his signature spin after his moonwalk.
I have so many memories lining up early at Disneyland for Captain EO and watching this in the waiting area sometimes twice with my dad. Great memories. Thanks for posting this. So nostalgic.
