Nothing captures the whimsical wonder of deep space for me like the ambient theater entrance music (near the end of the vid). it always gave me the most amazing chills as a kid. Not surprised to find out now that this was Horner. I just wish there was an official recording available for it.
This is so great. I only watched the movie a few times over the years but nostalgia has made it difficult now it's no longer there. I remember waiting used to be the worst thing when I was younger, but now listening to this music it's like all I wanna do is hang out in the preshow waiting area and just enjoy life. Ohh man... memories...
It has that effect, makes you wanna be a child/teenager again, hating to wait but to be there with no worries and just chillin' in the air conditioned room with what you're gonna have for lunch or dinner later that day being your only worry. Perhaps followed up by a trek back to the resort for some pool time, or for some shopping and a nap in the room you're in. :)
I used to love watching the captain EO movie back in 1987 when I first visited Disneyland in California and then in 1988 at epcot which was at the walt Disney world resort in Orlando Florida. The music was awesome.
Good memories with my dad and my nana watching this and laughing when I was a kid.. Disney just sucks now. My dad would make fart sounds when he shot lightning out his hand and I wasn't about to look at the back rows behind me lolol
James Horner did the score for the film, though I'm not so sure he did for this queue, as well. It doesn't quite sound like him; meanwhile, the film super sounds like him.
Wikipedia: "The show's orchestral score was composed by James Horner, additional score was composed and performed by Tim Truman, while the area and pre-show music was written by Richard Bellis."
Thank you! Curious how you were able to get the source material? Would LOVE to hear the masters in high, lossless quality (as with many other Disney BGM tracks)

I miss this attraction so much. The best at Disneyland. Never knew I could miss a queue song so much in my life. #childhood
I remembered wearing 3d glasses when I was watching Captain EO at Disneyland
Being five years old. I was impressed adults/humans could pull this off. The theatre. The choreography. The pizazz.
Captain EO made going to Disneyland more special because not am I Disney fan but a Jackson fan as well. 😊
I hope to discover that I still have my original t-shirt from the 1985 premiere (Disneyland, when I was 14)!? I was there to change the world! :)
Thanks very much for posting this. I love Captain EO.
Same
