Allow me to make a suggestion. Firstly I’ve been doing this with cars and bikes for years. I had no idea easy off would do that. Citristrip spray will clean it to bare metal with little to no scrubbing in minutes. Wear gloves but keep an eye on em as they will deteriorate but it takes a few. It will cut you prep time by two thirds
I try to keep one thing in mind well a couple. Aluminum doesn’t rust well it does over a long period of time. BUT a Jedi will not allow that to happen to their weapon. Try to visualize where the hand over a period of time of time will wear. Like the spin point. Two when asked in a behind the scenes interview Lucas says a lightsaber emits NO heat. There won’t be burned emitters. It won’t happen. When people add rust to the grenade section of Obi Wans weapon… that won’t happen he would never allow that. Plus 20 years on a desert planet where they literally have to farm moisture. No moisture no oxidation
Definitely going to try this in the near future because that looks AWESOME! My OCD is bummed you didn't get the little silver portion of the inside of the red knob, but this looks utterly fantastic.
hahah if you spray it and hang over it for long enough it will also strip out your eyes and lungs hahahahahahahah. It wont work on everything all the time but i find it works really well for this.
Great stuff! I like to use #0000 steel wool too. It takes the aluminum black off but slowly and very controlled. It’s great because you can go all different directions like you said. It also has the benefit of giving the part a dull shine, like it’s been handled a lot. Great tutorial man!
Never thought to use the metal blueing product I usually use black paint to get that look. I’ve used the blueing product to restore gun parts before so I like the idea of using that like you did. Nicely done
Great show dude and thanks for taking your time and doing this for us 🤙🏻I guess you’ll be needing a fresh one now or maybe just go for a new Sabine saber 😁thanks again 🤙🏻
your welcome! glad everyone enjoyed this video. its always so much fun to do. very messy but fun! I have Sabines saber on its way from my friends at Vader's Sabers.
Hi Jon, thanks for this great tutorial. Could you list the brand of the paint/finish remover spray that you used near the beginning of the process, please?
So, never ruined any electronics the way you do it? (Obviously, your have full disclaimers! Your not responsible for someone else's mistakes or bad luck) But just wanted to check on your personal experience! Some people say never spray anything with electronics inside... But you've done many this way, from what i can see.
Never heard any problems. I do try to take a lot of care of openings, wires, pin connections and all that if I’m not pulling apart a full hilt. I hate having to rebuild that saber if I can just mask things off. If I was doing this a client then maybe I would pull it all apart. But yeah I have never had 1 issue doing things like this
Yay! I love watching weathering videos.
YES! I have been waiting!
Ohhhhhhhh yeah!!!!! Thanks for all the hard work bro!!!!

Awesome job! Just found this video
Awesome! Thank you!
Great video.
Great vid bud
Yes man thank you!! I will be getting mine within the next week or so and this is what I was hoping for! I got the Sabine one from Ahsoka though
nice! yeah i have Sabine version coming soon as well. did you get the pre weathered version?
Almost forgot the Alumablack will take better of you use a heat gun to warm up the aluminum. Its a porous metal and heat opens up microscopic pores
Nice dude
This video was AMAZING! Thanks for a tutorial!
You're so welcome! Glad you liked it
Hi from Australia! Liked & subbed! 👍

@@TheCollectorsOutpost yeah I’ve got one on way too 🤙🏻
Awesome 🔥🔥
Thanks!
Did you ever do anything with that Ezra lightsaber you weathered? I really like it and was wondering what you'd sell it for if you still had it.
Hi Jon, thanks for this great tutorial. Could you list the brand of the paint/finish remover spray that you used near the beginning of the process, please?
Oh it’s just Oven cleaner! It’s called Easy Off.
Pls another review
So many are coming!
What was the company that stole vids from you?
Tatooine Lightsabers. Took videos from me and content from MANY MANY MANY others.

The weapon of a jedi merits more respect for its upkeep. Your making obiwan upset. 😂😂😂😂
Awesome work, but bro, you literally washed that toxic stuff into the ground.
