Instructions not clear - so I finished making this last week when all of a sudden a storm trooper burst through my front door, he said he was looking for a couple of droids or something I don't know. I told him the droids I have are not the ones he's looking for and to get the hell out! He called me 'rebel scum' which wasn't very nice at all, he then picked up his blaster and started shooting at me, I had just finished my 'battle ready light sabre ' but the damn thing didn't work, all it did was move around making swooshy noises. I mean luckily his shots were way off target but for a second there I thought I was in some real trouble! Thanks Odin 😉.
Dorian Gray ????
Dorian Gray my good sir, I had the same issue. I was hanging with my youngling friends when some guys started shooting up the place! Then our friends, Master Skywalker, came in and tried to kill us! I had my combat ready lightsaber, but all it did was get cut up by his real one! Luckily I escaped, but my friends weren’t so lucky.
Dorian Gray this is not lore friendly you clearly don’t know much about storm troopers
Dorian Gray.... made my day!
FUNNY!!!!
I am too stupid to work with all this but it's still fun to watch
if you really think you cant cut and soldier maybe, so just try it, i tried it and turned actually pretty well and i dont have experience so no, pretty easy bro
Rokdri update turns out you were right, I'm a pendejo but I can still make this

From an electronics standpoint, its actually kinda simple, the connectors and the drivers aren't completely necessary, just convenient

I see you have constructed a new light saber. Your skills are complete, but you are not a Jedi yet.
5:38 While I'm not really an electrical engineer, I figure putting heatshrink around a transistor like this would be somewhat dangerous, as you're completely isolating the heatsink on the back of the transistor from any airflow whatsoever, which risks it overheating and damaging the component, and possibly burning the tubing (if it gets that hot).
This is more complex than transformers (like me) themselves!!!
Literally, how are you so smart???
Man. I cant think of a video that I watched that had this much content where was utterly and completely lost. You did a great job explaining what you had and what you were doing. I just dont know any of this stuff. Enjoyed it though.
I love how clean the work he does is. shrink wrap can never be over used. Great video!
Just wanted to say this is a fantastic video. Excellent skill and know how to wire sound to your own lightsaber. For anyone who is interested - I just ordered an Ultrasaber mystery box for $75 (because I didn't want to take the time to make my own). I plan on getting a saber without sound (probably going to happen with the mystery box) and using this tutorial to mod it with sound from a blade builder. I know ultrasaber does not want you to do this, they want you to send it in and spend a ton of money, so I'll post my struggles when I get the blade.
How to turn a Toy Lightsaber into a Combat Ready Lightsaber
Step 1. Make a combat ready lightsaber.
Step 2. Alter the internals of a toy lightsaber, and meticulously put them into the combat ready one you already had.
Step 3. Never realize that the combat ready lightsaber is permanently on Demo Mode.
Complete.
How do you take it off demo mode?
@@gamersinacontainer you can't, it's on demo mode permanently
@@tescocarpark1084 I mean before taking it apart.
There should be a switch on the top of the lightsaber
@@gamersinacontainer if not then its stuck on demo mode
Thanks a lot for sharing this kind of content for free! So informative and I now feel like it's more within my current budget to build my custom sabre. Now to start designing my hilt... :D
Sooooo...in order to turn a toy lightsaber into a combat ready one...I just build a combat ready one. Thanks, super helpful, friend
Thanks so much for this, I was going to use an old Hasbro sound card for a custom saber swell, and this really cleared stuff up for me!
You are very welcome!
Odin Makes You should be careful to not profit twice off of one video, you could get in some trouble. just don't monetize it on two accounts and you're alright but just a heads up.
TABITHA OSBORNE why would he get in trouble by commenting on a video twice? He is the real guy he has 128k subs.
@@OdinMakes i am a little behind on the times, but am going to try this. I can’t find the micropuck 1425 and am not sure what amperage to choose can we get a list of compatible parts so we done melt the system?
I've been looking for a video like this for SOOOOOOO LONG and this is amazing
This is really really helpful. I saw the first video and was all over it, but knowing that I can do it like this instead kinda makes this even better.
Very detailed and very thorough. Wayyy glad I watched this before jumping into deconstruction
I'll call it "combat ready" when it slices through stuff like Luke's does.
Rick Jasper go to the hacksmith den he made a proto saber that burns through steel
VortexDoez that was fake and any scientist or engineer will tell you this
@@Marcus51090That was not "fake" it just wasn't properly functional nor a real Proto saber as it uses a tungsten filament with a titanium bar. Its more of a super heated metal club, but it does in fact work
Marcus W You should watch the Full video on the HackSmith Protosaber Instead of jumping to conclusions mate

Is it just me or is this video a "how to install a soundboard from a toy into a combat ready saber" and not how to turn a toy into a combat ready!
scott mcclary I was thinking the same thing
yea it seems more like he sourced parts from the toy instead of attaching the blade and guts to the toy hilt
I had the same thought process
100% agree! Rather than use the actual toy he jus gutted the damn thing and reinstalled it into his already made one... the hell. I was hoping this would help me fix my Obiwan lightsaber. the blade is gone but still functional.. I want to mod it with a green light and use it.
Title misleading but possible ideas can come from this. like rewiring the inside with a new led source. and buy a Kyberlight blade for $20.
Yeah I wanted to do the same thing with my toy lightsaber
That was awesome
Thank you so much
for making and
Posting this amazing video

Awesome video! This was really cool seeing how much you charged it and I can’t believe you did so well!
I’m so glad you’re doing this video because this what I was thinking about.
I don’t think I could solder that good but I agree with him on one thing. I wish I had that when I was a kid lmfao 😂😂😂. It would have blown my mind as a kid.
Love the video. I have been doing this same style for 4 sabers I have built and many more to build.
Do you have a page? I just got into this and i like to see all the different ideas.
Sweet can't wait to try this out!! Thanks Odin!!
Now I'm going to put some shrink tube over my head, just in case it short circuits.
Thank you your a bloody legend
Thanks for the video It will help me fix my own lightsaber
This is an awesome easy to follow video, I got hurt overseas, and cant do the wiring, but maybe i cna teach my kids with this. great work.
I really enjoy your build videos. Thank you for sharing.
Great tutorial!
very nice work
Just want to say thanks for this video I have put it to use to build and create my own.
I picked up the same Bladebuilders for 10 bucks at Canadian Tire today. What a coincidence! Thanks for the tutorial!
Cool build - thank you for sharing this.
This seems like a pretty simple build ngl. I learned a lot of the wiring rewiring last year in tech class. Plus u have a Sauder. Might try this
Be delicate with these boards, it's so easy to rip off the solder pads and leave your board useless.
the bass music is amazing, I love it :)
Super clean👍🏽👍🏽
Thank you, also a small note - the transistor part you heatshrinked gets very hot during operation, and you should attach it to saber body directly so it can dissipate heat.
Crazy how someone can know how to do all this. He grew up tinkering with stuff I bet. Pretty cool!
Bad ass build
Amazing
Really cool!!!
This is frankly very relaxing to watch. 🙂
So doing this. But a parts list would help.
Beyond Geek will post one later, but it is almost completely the same list as the other DIY saber build here on Beyond Geek. The only new parts are the toy, and that PNP transistor (NTE 242 is the model I used here) but I have grabbed other models now, and all have worked. Just make sure it's PNP- Positive-Negative-Positive. NTE also sells NPN, and they might work, but I have not tested them.
The parts list is now up. Thanks!
That is absolutely Brilliant i'm going to make one
he makes twisting off the top portion look easy
Amazing work. Always wanted a proper tutorial on how to do this!
You kick ASS brother!
Excellent tutorial. Thank you. I’ve built (3) of these so far. The only problem I’ve had is that the Micropuck I was using fried. It was rated for 500mah but only 3 volts so it couldn’t handle the (4) aaa batteries. I’m going to try a 500mah Micropuck rated for 5+ volts and hopefully that will work.
Damn what a mastery !
Very talented man! Wish I had this knowledge! Great build 👌
You have inspired me and my friend to do the same thing thank you
This is really helpful thank you! Ive been working on doing a combat ready Kylo Ren Saber using the tips youve given. the circuit board on the Kylo Ren verson is completley different to the Rey version as in the markings are different, switch and how to connect the LEDS. the high powered LED (Center LED) actually needs the Positive and Negotive connected otherwise the bulb wont be as powerful as the side LEDs. But again this has been really helpful!
Love it :) thank you for the video
Gotta admit, that is pretty cool! I'm already working on my kids' sabers!

Thanks for sharing :-)
Nice project :-)
how tf did you just “unscrew” that cap
*P U R E M U S C L E*
@@Firstnamelastnameismyname23 To be fair THAT's how Odin Makes...
I was thinking the same thing ... i am over here with the same saber giving it my all ... even tried pliers ... but this guy just unscrews it like its nothing ...WTF!
I tried taking the laser part of but it won't budge, the laser part just bends, doesnt even break, as for the top cap? Pretty sure this guy used the force to open it 'cause I thought it was one piece, doesnt even move a bit.
Thanks
Thanks I had a science project and I used your build to win😃😃😃
That's amazing
You are extremely talented and brilliant Sir :-)
I love watching things like this. It’s always fascinated me but I have no idea about any of it lol.
Gotta love those shrink tubes.
Could you do a video for the combat lightsabers where it also includes a chassis's with a lightsabers crystal, obviously it's not critical but it would be a cool edition when stripping the lightsabers down to show it off to make it look even more the real deal plus it would be awesome to learn how to make a lightsabers crystal chamber
Electronics Geek + Star Wars Geek = Cool Geek.
I have a saber forge saber that looks really nice but I didn't include the sound because it was just too expensive. I might try modding it with this, it sounds good enough to me! Definitely better than nothing
This is really cool! You could buy a nice hilt from Saberforge in the closeout section for a little over a hundred bucks and with the minor upgrades you can have a really excellent saber for around 150.
Nice Change
Love your stuff
Very Smart
I don't know if I can find all the materials here in my country, but in a month time I'm gonna try to do this! Hope it works

Nice!
Awesome build!I think you should do an episode on how you keep your work area from being cluttered. Seriously, how do you keep stuff organized?
Haha! It's how @Odin Makes genius mind operates. That and he has the uncanny ability to have anything you need laying around!
Clean. Build. Table... What kind of madness is this!? lol
I just bought this saber :D
I wish my soldering skills were enough to successfully do something like this..
The Beardless Man can you hold the tip of a pen against a flat surface for approximately 1-3 seconds? If you answered yes, congratulations, you have soldering skills sufficient to wire your own Saber.
Well this dude can't solder and he managed okay !
The Presenter's soldering skills are abysmal...so you should be fine. And remember....twist the ends of the wire, BEFORE you tin them...jesus christ...

I was thinking the same thing about his soldering work, lol. I know it did the job, but holy shit! I used to build circuit boards for Boeing and every solder connection he made caused me to cringe. But when you're using a $5 soldering iron from walmart... they're not so great.

How to make a combat ready lightsaber
1. Get tape
2. Color the roll of tape with marker
3. Roll the tape into a tube
4. Get a light
5. Make sounds with mouth
I’ve had this homemade saber for a long time. Very durable. Great for fighting Maul. Would recommend. 10/10
i remember everyone in the comments of the last video like “buy a reys lightsaber cuz its cheap and no one wants them” and he actually did exactly that its too funny lmao
hell i was even just looking into swapping the speaker switch and led in one of the toys, and then adding the blade... this will definitely speed things along
Cool video, and thank you for the content, but I think the point was missed here. I think what people REALLY wanted to know was "Can you turn the hilt and electronics from a toy saber into a combat-ready saber (ie: what does it take to put a stronger polycarbonate blade, and brighter LED into the toy saber)?"
I would have settled for those lame lightsaber toys they had out when the original trilogy came out when I was a kid to be honest with you. Back then those were the height of cool as far as I was concerned. And I never got one. Wasn't until I was in my twenties that I started collecting the toy lightsabers. Today's toy lightsabers, even the cheapest costume ones, just look better than those old ones from my childhood. Something like this I'd have probably been totally blown away about and not been able to play with it. This build appeals more to adult me who can better appreciate it. Thanks for showing it off.
I know many people are commenting that the content of the video is not the same as mentioned in the title..
But honestly speaking, I wud've done the EXACT same thing if I were in Odin's Shoes!! If you Have some Good Quality
parts lying around your Work Shop, Why WOULD'NT You Wanna Use Those, Instead of the Cheaper, Crappier, Quality Stuff
Found in Walmart Toys??!!!! His Custom Saber was a Better Quality, Better Sounding Saber in the End, After All..
So Why Not?!! Nice Custom Build Odin!!
Super NEATO!
This was cool I wanna try with Kylo RENs sound board
you made my dream came true
The reason why the end cap was difficult to remove is that the blade builder port is nailed in to secure it into the toys
How to turn a toy look lightsaber into a combat ready one step 1: buy a combat ready lightsaber step 2:admire your purchase 😂😂😂
I actually did that, I had an Obiwan Episode 3 one, and my friend who actually duals fir disney on occasion broke her battle ready lightsaber (modified), and needed one for a event in NJ, so I pulled my old one apart, then shoved her insides in, then replaced the blade with a pre-ordered plastic one (can't remember what its called, but its what is in safety glasses), took about 10 hours, and no sauntering except for the led.
Smart guy
Have you ever thought about using 1 or 2 18650 batteries? you might need to make the hilt a little longer, but 1 lasts longer then 2 AA batteries.
i liked it i wnt to buy ittttt so cool
Cool
