What the fudge is c9?
Do people just genuinely not know what C9ing actually is. Suddenly in season 9 everyone is using it incorrectly. Not reaching the point in time isnt C9ing. Its when you forget to touch it while having every opportunity to.
@@Saoshinkid with new players joining since overwatch is free, its obvious not a lot will know the real context/meaning of C9. Heck I just learned it a month ago despite starting OW a year ago
You've found another way for people to cope with losses that were definitely not their fault, but the 0.25 second difference from spawn points.
not gonna lie, matches in wich i ABSOLUTELY reached the payload but the game decided i didnt, did come to my mind.

@@Naza95 Every player has had these games and as a result this is not a small issue. Every player has had this happen multiple times of they've played 100 games or more.

I wonder if this has to do with the bot spawn locations for the cthulu event during season 9 where one of the rooms have a bunch of bots spawning at the same time.
I can't wait to see "adjusted respawn points in order to make more fair and logical spawns" in the next set of patch notes

What I found the most interesting is that Horizon has 5 spawn points despite being an Overwatch 1 map
Maybe some dev thought about reducing the amount of spawn points for all maps but after a few maps got bored and decided there's no point in that

@@Zen-db5pp they thought of keeping 2CP in Overwatch 2, but scrapped that idea (you can see it in the OW2 trailer having a 2CP Gothenburg)
Im just throwing this out there as my guess as to why (although I have no idea more than anyone else) but maybe the reason it has 5 spawn points instead of the usual 6 is because when they reworked the map to be space opera themed in season 4, maybe someone touched on them then? Again, idk but that's my guess.
@@iro9697 Horizon was also significantly reworked back in 2018, but I'm not sure if the map had 6 spawn points prior to that because...well, old overwatch versions are lost to time.

I think they never really thought about it, it seems like the kind of mistake that you make when you fail to realize the severity of one's current decision.
in OW1 the spawn points were placeholders until they weren't, and deathmatch was, like, intentionally unbalanced.
then during OW2's development, Bobby Kotick had the devs working eighty hour weeks on dumb shit that (surprise!) turned out not to be fun, and not a soul remembers how those spawn points got there.
oh, and then they were fired after the merger

I’m pretty sure they probably didn’t think it was a big deal and well… it probably still isn’t as marblr pointed out, no one ever cared about this for 7+ years lmao.
An idea for a video, if you're interested: I've noticed that Kiriko's "Kitsune Rush Assists" stat seems to be weirdly inflated, in that a single use of Kitsune Rush will sometimes result in more assists than there are enemy players to get assists on in the first place. My current theory is that it counts an assist for each teammate that contributed to the kill, but then that leaves the question of why is Kitsune Rush the only ability that counts assists in this way? (Or if it's not, what other abilities do?)
I noticed that too and yeah I think the same thing, if your teammates participate in the same kill it inflates assists. Cool to know someone else noticed this
Oh interesting, so in theory, if all four of your teammates contributed to a team wipe while in Kitsune rush, you'd get 20 assists?
Or hog that can get doble kill with one kill

Assists are more of status effect related. Either a positive effect for your teammate such as damage boost or nano...or a negative one towards the enemy such as sleeping and bleed. I've noticed how kill/elim counts are never accurate as well. I've mentioned it to a few streamers about elims not being accurate but I'm pretty much dismissed on it. But yeah, like someone mentioned earlier, if 3 people attacked an enemy, then those 3 will get an elim count instead of the final blow player getting an elim and the other 2 would get an assist like in other games.
Sometimes the random spawn decides what door is faster to leave from. This is important for heroes like Lucio that do different rollouts out of each door, even if the doors are parallel to each other.
Played for thousands of hours and never even thought about this mechanic. Thank you Marblr 🙏🙏🙏 another thing I can blame when I lose
the collesieum one has to be fixed thats just straight up unfair
I've thought about the asymmetry of spawns since the very beginning of Overwatch 1 tbh, it's an important consideration in shooter map design

This definitely feels like an oversight. Also I really appreciate your overanalysing of things like this. Going super deep into the "useless" details and exact numbers. It takes a special kind of person with unique dedication and interests to make undoubtedly high quality content like this, and surprisingly there's a healthy amount of viewers who'd watch it.

The instance of Colosseo's spawns could be the explanation for why I always see the side with the spawn advantage managing to hold the bot in overtime for ridiculous amounts of time while the other side I rarely see overtime last long.
Good thing their reworking it in season 11. That day can't come any faster.

As a QA lead (for a completely unrelated industry) your vids are always fun to watch. It also shows how beneficial a good QA team can be. Either these were caught and the devs said, "F*CK IT! WE'LL DO IT LIVE!!!" or the QA team was never assigned to look for these types of issues. I am thinking it is the former and it has never been any sort of issue.
Oh my gosh. Hi, Lucio main here- thank you for proving that I’m not crazy. I always found the rollouts seemed ever so slightly off depending on team selection and people just told me that I was just spawning in a different spot and that nothing changes between the teams- but I WAS RIGHT! Thank you, that drove me insane when I used to play overwatch.

something else to mention is rollouts. there are a lot of maps with geometry in the spawn room that are used for rollouts, which you can't reach as smoothly/quickly depending on your spawn room. as a lucio main ive noticed it alot, especially in rialto 2nd point attack where you can't smoothly line up for the narrow part and makes it much harder to do the ideal rollout for it
THIS EXPLAINS WHY THERE ARE SO MANY CLIPS OF PEOPLE SPAWNING ONTOP OF EACH OTHER AND PUSHING EACH OTHER FROM THE INSIDE!! THATS SO NEAT

I really wish you would’ve talked about flashpoint spawns. I’ve felt before that the spawns aren’t fair and getting one point and then the opposite team getting placed right next to the next spawn and your team having to walk across the map has always drove me crazy
I love the insane work you put into finding out strange inconsistencies. I'd absolutely would fix this if I could, but I'm sure whoever placed them didn't give it a second thought in favor of reaching a deadline.
