Director: There was a mistake at measure 12.
Sopranos: it was the altos.
Altos: it was us.
Tenors: There was a mistake?
Basses: What page are we on?
I broke the dairy rule so much as a chorister. LOL.
"..and on show days, I don't eat dairy,...or nuts,... or toast."
"..Eric Whitacre, I heard about him like way before he was popular."
TRUTH
"what's your favorite ave maria?"
"shh!"
BEST
Love it! Don't forget about the perfume person, "OMG! Someone is wearing perfume, I thought we all agreed NOT to wear any perfume!" haha
I've said a few of these things, but I've heard a good amount of them.
"I think the Soprano's are sharp"
Literally every day at practice
"wheres the breath" MEEEE
I was usually..."How many bars do we sit for? I lost count..." "Can you wake me up when the bass entry comes in? I think I'm going to take a nap..."
"this is your noooooote" ahaha so accurate.
Also, when the conductor tell you to turn to ave maria,
"WHICH ONE??"
thank you, Cantata Singers! for your great music and now so much laughter. Brilliant!
I DO ALL OF THESE IM GOING TO CRY THIS IS BEAUTIFUL
"I don't like your vowels."
"That was too bright."
"this is on my break" is soooo relatable
This is right on my break ...My teacher ...A VOICE MUST HAVE NO BREAKS A VOICE MUST HAVE NO REGISTERS! EVENESS EVENESS IN ALL THE REGISTERS!
Tenors are NEVER flat. Long live the tenors!
"What are we wearing for the show!!!" Relatable.
Omg I'm bisectional! I'm also usually in the middle note on a 3 way split! Love the vid though. I can totally relate.
I love you for this. I love you for forever and ever. The most perfect choir video. Ever. Right here.
"is it tae, te, tay, tey, taye, or teye?"
Here are some more:
"How did we end up in another key?"
"This is, like, the 7th version of In Dulci Jubilo I've sung!"
"The Credo is always a bitch."
Sharing this with every choir member I know. And choir director. And generally people who understand humor.
@eveecooper Thank you!!! Kristopher Fulton is one amazingly talented composer - we are so lucky to have him in the choir!!
"I used to sing alto now I'm a soprano! I'm bisectional!" ahhaha! this is me right now in my choir class! so yes me too, im bisectional! ahahha!
I'm imagining her just saying all this at once with no one interrupting her. It makes it really awkward. And I love it.
If good voice leading is used, I'm actually pansectional! (polysectional when the soprano goes above high A flat)
+MysteryAndroclese401 I'm also usually in the middle of a three way! Lol
the deep breath and that cough afterwards is PERFECT!! XD so. true.
Now we need one for high school choirs.
My choir just sang excerpts of Marc Antoine Charpentier's "Messe Nuit pour Noel" in [drumroll...]
FRENCH LATIN!!!!!
Hilarious video, well done!!
Oh, there's a repeat?!?! How on earth can you miss a repeat?!?!?!
TheFiFiStudio Exactly
I have definitely said a lot of these, but Basses being SLOW?????? WHAT???
Nicely done. My conducting teacher, John Alexander, taught that the conductor should keep the rehearsal moving so fast that conversation like this can't fit in edgewise.
Yup - I've heard every one of these questions - just in the last week. Too true - well done.
THIS IS MY LIFE IN A UA-cam VIDEO! Love this! Choirsters unite!
For some reason, rehearsal tonight was a little quieter than usual...
wow!!!! I haven't seen her in a long time..!! Hi from Sabrina Kim, who was at Norgate elementary school and was in her choir class..!!!! :-D
haha so much truth in this! And that piece at the end is fab! =D
"Eric Whitacre...I heard about him, like, WAY before he was popular."
Also, "I don't eat dairy. Or nuts. Or toast." Priceless.
@loyolanurse15 That's "Prometheus" by Kristopher Fulton! There is a link above if you want to check it out on iTunes. ;)
Folks, that was absolutely BRILLIANT. And I'm just going to try and ignore the fact that every composer you name dropped are among my favorite. Hahaha!
In my choir, we're doing a piece by every composer mentioned. I feel accomplished.
Brilliant whittling of subculture in 4 minutes - we all know this video could have been three hours long, with all the stuff that could be said about choristers!! Love love love!!!!
Everything in this is true. This girl needs an award.
I literally was crying during this - so accurate and so dang funny. I am definitely at fault for some of these and have heard ALL of these on a daily basis at University! This video is the best.
"I don't know anything about French Latin" and "I totally forgot to return this" -- YES!
Really funny! Brilliant! Required viewing for choristers. Thanks!
Having just gotten back from a two week intensive choir camp, this had me literally falling off my chair laughing. Not exaggerating even a little.
This is too perfect.
OMG this is fabulous! i was dying of laughter the whole time! Thanks for sharing (:
This is pretty much everything.
This is hilarious because it's ALL stuff that we've said in choir, only not all in three and a half minutes. The actress is VERY FUNNY. Could we get you for our next theater comedy?
Hahahaha! My official favorite video. That'll be me in 10 years!
Hello Ms Finlay!! I was really surprised too..!! I never knew I would find my elementary school teachers on youtube..!! I hope you are having a great time at your choir and Norgate..!! I was hoping I could visit there on 2014.. :)!
"What's your favorite Ave Maria?? SHHH." - hahahahaha
This young lady must be one of those "DIVA" Sops you hear about all the time - Nothing but HOT AIR. lol. Every choir has one. :)
Also, "Are we breathing together or staggering?", "Does anyone have a Ricola?", "Did you hear the overtones?"
I think the funniest part was the mention of Eric Whitaker. The choir I'm in sang one of his pieces last semester.
Beautiful... and painfully true!
"How are we splitting here?..I'm usually in the middle of a three-way..That's what she said." :)
the eric whitacre comment was so good!
Everything in this video is so sad, but true. If you've been in choir, then you know many of these are said.
THE FREAKING ACCURACY OMG
had me smiling (knowingly)! great stuff! Over here in germany a favourite is "Es zieht". ("There's a draft")
Hi Sabrina! Too funny that you found my choir's video on here! I'm still at Norgate actually!
OMG!! This is so so true!!! I have been in choirs where you have people like this and they are usually wrong in some regard!!!! This is hilarious!!!
omg this is so accurate lmfaoo I'm a soprano and most of the sopranos say alll of this.
I've heard a lot of these before... in my choir!
"this is your noooote!" and Eric whitacre cracked me up :D
"What’s your favorite ave maria?" XD That sounds familiar for some odd reason! :O LOL XD
See you in Seattle!
Too true. I wish I could say I've never said any of those questions, but I'd be lying. and for the record I'm not Bisectional. Bass through and through. ;)
"I'm usually in the middle on a three-way" Best line ever.
"I'm usually in the middle in a three way.."
"Thats what she said...." haha classic
"He shall eat his flock like a leopard."
"He shall putrefy inside his Levi's."
"His yolk is easy and his bacon is crisp."
"do you have an extra pencil" too real.
This is SO true. I love it!!!
Anyone who dislikes this video has never been in a choir.
I think she's in my choir too (Singing Out, Toronto)
IS THIS A PHOTOCOPY?!!
Love!!
HA!
Nice: Everyone says that about Whitacre.
(I really did know him before he was popular, though).
LOL! My choir had two....my best friend and ME....lol We weren't hot air....we just wanted to fix what the director couldn't hear; it happens. We were his favorites anyway...
The part about Eric Whitacre KILLED me.
lol "this is your note" !!! i love this video i hear like half those things every day!!! BAHAHA choir geeks rule!
@TheRealmsOfGold That is the maestro himself!! Thanks! :)
OMG. This is so me. I'm not even kidding.
"Mendelssohn is my favorite."
Some of these are totally valid things to say!
1:14 "nuhh, nuhh,," I'd say the same thing with Rutter's "What Sweeter Music" in the l/h folder.
Hey guys, what do you call a soprano who can sight read? An alto.
THE FREAKING ACCURACY OMG
i've def. done some of this stuff and heard this ALL the time XD
LOVE IT
and yes i am totally BISECTIONAL. that's true, though. haha
hahaha, my choral director referenced this today in choir. SO FUNNY.
Brilliant!
This is awesome!!!
They missed one!
"Which version of "Gloria In Excelcis Deo are we doing this year??"
I miss my choir!!!!!
Does she play the viola when the choir is not rehearsing?
lol choir memories coming back lol
this is freakishly accurate!
omg i wish i was back in my high school choir
that kitty was an adorable fat kitty.just like mine and Calico
Some of these go through my head and the rest are from the director lolz
