I was working across the Hope Valley on Sunday. It was a fantastic day for running. Having done a few loops your run has whetted the appetite. Alas my boy, Merlin, is no longer here to drag me at pace across Rushup and Mam Tor to the cross. But he is always with me.... Great vid, will watch more.
Great to see you out Dean, thanks for the shout, what a beautiful day it was, we'll take some more days like that please. P.S Kinder is adorable 😍 ☺️ take care.
Really great to see you both for a brief moment, hope you enjoyed the rest of your walk with the Herd. Kinder is my best mate, he's like my shadow 😁 Thanks for watching and hopefully see you out there again soon. Dean
Thanks for watching Col, it was a really enjoyable run. The race will be a bit more intense but as long as I make it round before the cutoff times then I'll be over the moon... Even if I don't it will be great to have a crack at such an iconic race at this early stage in my running career. Just wanted to give it a go 😁
@@DeanRead I always enjoy watching your videos. Just watched your Crib Goch video, I'm hoping to get over there either April/May time and I'm staying at the campsite at the start of the Watkins Path, so seeing you hike to Pen-Y-Pass from that area gave me a good idea of the route to take as I was hoping to do the same loop as you did.
Nice to see the Peak District back to its glorious best Dean after 3 less than glorious weekends! Best of luck with the Edale skyline race. Good idea to speed walk up Ringing Roger and not run! I don’t think I’d fancy running down there either!
Thanks for watching Anthony. I ran down Ringing Roger to Edale last year, it's an exhilarating experience. Looking forward to the race, will see how it goes 😁
Thanks for watching Alex and thanks for your kind words re the beard 🤣🤣 I mentioned in another comment that I'd not realised how long it was until I started looking back at this footage
I was going out with backpackers and bruises but was Not well, if I had gone I would have seen you again, last time I sore you was on a running weekend in January. Next weekend I am doing the dark and light peak Castleton loop run over mamtor
That was a great weekend in Hathersage, we got very similar weather on the Sunday. You booked on to any more of Geoff's weekends? I'm in Snowdonia this weekend with the Focused Performance crew.
@@DeanRead no I am not booked in on any of Jeffs weekends. This month I'm doing the spring series of dark and light peaks races in April I'm doing the longhorn half marathon with my dog , I have got a weekend booked to climb Snowdon and a weekend to do Scafell. Got some swim run events in the summer hoping to run more in the Peak District as I have a 20 mile Run booked for November starting at Derwent Dam. I just bought a new ebike so have plans to go out with the mountain bike club a lot more this summer and hoping to get into the Peak District with it
Done that a few time's back in the 80's when I was a Fell/Marathon runner. Still doing it at a more leisurely pace. At least I now look at the scenery and not the floor for two hours!!
wonderful .walked many parts of that area but, it was 40 year ago ,found our limits now around 6-8 mile then getting tired. Love you video's brings back many many happy memories from when we done the Yorkshire 3 peaks . we have loan of a cottage in Buxton now from a friend. Hope to be visiting june -july and trying to get fit enough to venture out into the hills ,Three shire head, Padly gorge etc .Stay safe & healthy and all the very best when you do your challenge .
He'll be a great mountain companion when he's old enough, will wait until he's at least 18 months old before we start running him on the hills. Thanks for watching Adrian
Thanks for watching Hannah.. Kinder can be a nightmare navigation wise in bad weather, my friends and I used to head there and intentionally try and get lost to practice poor weather navigation skills 😁
Really enjoyed following along with you Dean. Such a beautiful place to be. I'm impressed you don't even sound winded as you run along. Good luck with the race. ( Nice music 👍).
Thanks for watching Julie. The weather was very reminiscent of our Pennine Way adventure 😁 I'll be happy if I can just make it round in the race, no real time goals other than beating the cutoff
Love it, that’s my favourite area in the Peaks, did the Edale Skyline last year starting and finishing in New Mills, running the Sett Valley Trail into Hayfield then up to Swines Back that was a tough Day. More videos please, been a long Winter.
Thanks for watching Sarah, we thought about you as we ran through Edale... Still need to meet for a run 👍😎 I'm either brave or stupid for entering, I think the later is more true... I'll give it a go and give it my best shot, just wanted to be part of a race I've dreamed of doing even before I started running. It's such an iconic route isn't it.
@@DeanRead ahh that's nice, I was away in the Lake District otherwise I may have seen you out there! It's an amazing, challenging route! I've only completed it once, and even that included a coffee top up and food stop in Hope. I bet it'll be amazing to be part of the fell race! And I bet it'll have a lot of interest after a two year gap.
Fingers crossed the weather is as nice on race day as it was this weekend. I'll be ready for coffee and cake when i'm finished if I make it all the way around 😁
Great video Dean! Very jealous you got on Mam Tor, we got to Mam Nick for about half 9/9.45 after visiting Little John at Hathersage and it was rammed. That's how we came to walk the Curbar Circular. Kinder looks a lively little pup.
Hi Jamie, sounds like you had a great time in the Peaks at the weekend even if you did miss out on parking for Mam Tor. Kinder is my best mate, I'll be taking him everywhere I go when he is old enough to run with us. All the best. Dean
Walked this route many a times, however never been fit enough to run it. Hope you have a good race Dean. My mate says i always seem to do a little run on the last bit back to the pub though lol.
Nice one mate, a beautiful day for it. hope you make the cut offs on race day, but I'm sure you will. ive started my running again, just over 2 weeks in, and can't wait till I'm back running the peaks agin. hopefully catch you on a camp soon Atb Mark
Definitely catch you on a camp again soon mate, even if it's a week night one when we have some more daylight hours. I'll give it a good go but I'll be happy with the experience even if I don't make the cut offs. Thanks for watching 👍
Fantastic weather for a run like that. Great scenery, still one of my favourite Peak District areas despite often being busy. Looks like your training is going well! Great to have you back on UA-cam 👍
Thanks for watching Greg. The training is going reasonably well, I've dialed it back a little as I was running every day at the start of the year. Focusing on distance rather than speed but trying to keep up the consistency without overdoing it.
Great video dean watch all the pennie way video have done sonme of the pennie way but just day walk done blackstone edge to Hebden bridge but I went to widdop reservoir to follow burnley way to get back home as I live in Lancashire good luck with the run
Great video as always Dean. Could be one for 2023 for me. How were the TerraUltra's on the terrain? I'm always a bit wary that once the ground becomes really wet, that their grip isn't sufficient
Thanks for watching Ashley, get it booked in for 2023 mate 👍 Yeah the Terra Ultras are great but once it starts to get really muddy then I wish I had some Inov8 MudClaws 😁
Thanks for watching 👍 I use a GoPro Hero 8 Black for running, I have the image stabilization turned on so it gives really great footage while running..
