I had a blast mixing this song. I did things I've never attempted before and a few things that, from what I've learned, you shouldn't do and it worked out well. At least to my ears it did. Thanx for sharing your perspective and knowledge, i'm learning a lot.

Exactly what I’m doing and what I’ve thought I’m overdoing many many times but this Videos is showing me once again - if it sounds good and it flows there is no such thing as overdoing as there is no specific rules or boxes. Do whatever you like and think it sounds good. Thanks for reminding me 🤙

Amazing sounds in all the songs. I love the unique variations each song provides. Big difference to most songs found in metalcore & in the music industry as a whole. It's so wholesome to see how much this style of music has evolved over the passed 10 years alone. I would love to have the opportunity to see the band & audition. I know Will personally & it's been so long since I've seen him. Would love to see him all grown up now that we aren't the kids we once were. It's amazing he's taken my advice about doing everything to make his dreams become a reality. He has always been amazing at everything he does. Always giving more than 100%. So amazing to see how far he's come.

i was skeptical coming into this but the way he explained it and the examples he have made perfect sense, this seems pretty cool to play around with

Guys I have an honest question, is it me or does the studio version of this song has very little low end? (At least on Spotify and UA-cam) Every time I listen to the song on a playlist I feel this significant volume and low end drop, I’m not bashing on the mix but it’s something I feel every time I listen to this song.

its a little middy but its better than muddy

@@boychris1947 I don’t think that’s the case, as it doesn’t sound like it has a lot of midrange, to me it sounds like it has very little low end energy, Especially when compared to other modern metal tracks in general, every time I listen to the song my ears adjust to the sound like halfway through the song, again not bashing the mix/mixer or anything like that, but it’s something I notice every time I listen to the song.

@@GreatBurningNullifier Not an answer to this but I'm always perplexed when mixing, I have always lots of low end, have to cut it on the bass and kick, think I've done it enough but hearing a reference, there's still to much. And every mix video I see, people go +n dB at 50hz on the kick or bass, using sub kick mics to get more low end, etc. It's weird to me; maybe mixers and mastering engineers are "fighting" each other in their decisions too, sometimes.

@@HansHammer I’ve listened to it on my studio monitors with sonarworks correction, as well as in my car and all my headphones (cheap and expensive) and to me the song always sounds like it starts with this high pass filter, my brain tends to think that’s going to get removed once the song kicks in with the blast beat but when everything comes in I just feel this underwhelming lack of low end energy and bit too much top end, specially when compared to other top metal productions, I think the songs come across better on the Liquid Metal or something live session that’s around somewhere on UA-cam. As a matter of fact there’s where I first listen to the hell fire and when I went over to Spotify to save the song I was terribly underwhelmed about how much better the live version sounded to me.

Im wondering how you would go about creating or finding these sorts of samples in the first place. Do people just build up a collection of these over time?

The noise gate on the mic is so annoying, it keeps cutting inhales after a split second. I'm not trying to be negative, but it made it was very unbearable to me.

When I first heard this song those impacts at the beginning of every single phrase threw me off really bad. I thought id get used to them but til this day I can't stand them. I think its so massively overkill. Like constant bombs going off. It takes away from the build of the heavy parts cause hes already maxed out the amount of impact and sub frequency that when the heavy parts hit, they sound less meaningful. I think it was a bad choice. When he mutes them, the mix is so much more bearable. There is a point where less is more. At the end of the day it just sounds like hes trying to hard to make it heavy. Just my opinion. Now many other bands have adopted this trend and it drives me insane.
