We just started a band and are tracking our first song and all of this mixing and mastering stuff scares me. I’m using fl studio and it’s like a second language
agree, the vocal line is too much in the background so cant really hear it in the car. in the car i listen to the one take playthrough because you can hear the vocals better.
Okay... so lets name the tracks on the session... prepro... Okay... MT POWER 2... yeah... CㄩCK... yeah, very important... Oh! Don't forget about the GOOF's!
all cool, but what the fuck is this MT POWER 2 mixtrack doing there lmao, did he really used this shitty drum sampler on final mix, or did he just put it there for memes lmao (9:36 lower left corner)
tbh i wouldn’t doubt it hearing the mix lmao even tho they have an insane drummer, tbh i use to try and make it goal to never spend money on plugins and work 100% freeware and over the course of about a year or 2 i endlessly edited the MT Power 2 kit and kinda made it sound close to the fat and open snare sound i was going for, kinda desthcore/beat down style it was pretty dope. the biggest issue is the kicks and toms are annoying to edit
Very clear and detailed explanation and evidently a lot of work in that production, but... that hypersmashed vocal track, looking like it went through an overabused TC Finalizer, makes most of what is being added on here either redundant or mostly ineffective, and should raise as many eyebrows as the very audible hard gating on the speaker's voice - both are pretty bad practice, technically speaking. Can be an artistic choice, though! To each their own, but should be pointed out that as an "Academy" (??) this is NOT to be taught as an example of "How things are done", more like exceptions. Interesting ones, perhaps, but both pretty weird things to do.
@@LostSinceSundayBand Fame has nothing to do with anything (plus, one could e.g. be famous in Africa but unknown in Australia, so it's relative), my observations were about some logical and very evident technical/sonic aspects in this video. No one is telling anyone that this is the way to do things. URM lets great producers do their own thing and simply explain how and why they do it. I love seeing weird shit because I take what I like and learn from it.
Sorry to say, but he sounds like a smurf. Sounds like his screams and growls are done in his throat instead of from his sternum/chest. Sounds incredibly silly and naff and that is probably why his vocals needs a lot of distortion and compression to sound good. I prefer how ‘traditional’ death metal guys were/are doing it. Having said that, very clear explanation of the process and definitely helps in my own workflow
It certainly a style. If his vocals did sound like traditional death metal, this band wouldn’t sound the same/ not the same identity. I think why people like his vocals so much is all the pitch manipulation stuff he does with his voice
No vocals you do come from your sternum or chest, all of the distortion comes from your throat. People will say they feel it in their chest but that isn’t how the sound is actually made
yes sesssion forlder has whooping 10 layers mixed into one powerful we all know from bvideo or albums.10 to make this one .comparing it to one or two takes of otehr vocalsists i dont rate it as high as others as it relays heavily onj processing to be as it is on album anyone who ask me i upload foplder with ghelfire vocs folder for them so theyc an see for them self/
Bad choice to have him scream through a distortion pedal for the first introduction of Will. Almost lost a fan at first 8 seconds of the song. I skipped the track at first listen. You can't go from CJ to a guy screaming through a guitar pedal and expect to keep a fan. Just saying.
Insane vocals? No so awful vocals. So bad I can't stop laughing. Impossible to take serious. Would probably fit better as a qute monster in the next Disney movie. If this is the future of the metal genre I don't want to hear it.
good, the future of metal doesn't need ya :) imagine clicking on a deathcore vocal mixing video just to tell the people you dont like deathcore vocals. the internet is wild

I was thinking the same hahahaha
too short release? 😅
love the custom track icon in Reaper haha
That is so cool. Is that an actual picture of Will?
Great video and insight into the production!!
The compressor sounds like he's breathing backwards
There is so much going on with these vocals.

insane on the chorus

we used MT Powerkit for demo drums it isn't in the full mix.

Lorna shore lyrics are generally pretty intelligible compared to a lot of deathcore
