@@HearingTracker I was only joking! I've had tinnitus for over 20 years, due to foolishly riding as a youngster without inner foam plugs...
I've done a few endurance rides here in the UK (Iron Butts, 1000 miles under 24 hours) and despite the foam plugs, I can hear crickets for the few days afterwards.
I've never noticed any real difference, or any triggers..
I can hear the whistling when my surroundings are very quiet.
Which becomes very hard during a compulsory hearing test at work, when all I can hear is my own heart beat and that bloody whistling.
However, I can tell you when there's an Airbus A400M about to fly over at 30.000ft (sweet turboprop music!), or when a Ducati zooms past on the motorway... 5 miles away! 🤔
So I'm loosing some of my hearing but keeping track of some very specific sounds quite well...
      Go figure... 🤣

Salt. If I eat something particularly salty, the VOLUME of the ringing increases significantly. This is consistent and reproducible.

My Tinnitus was caused by 45 live concerts. Bands like The Beatles, The kinks, Grand Funk Railroad, Led Zeppelin etc... Not Oasis thou... my ear were buzzing long before that 🤡🎶❗️

Lack of sleep and being extremely tired makes my tinnitus worse. My tinnitus was caused by a head cold that went into my ears but was never treated.

Hi! Thanks for the information. Does problem with teeth apply to dental infection too? I'm terrified of my dental infection of tooth roots spreading to my ear. Tinnitus started right when I got that abcess 3 months ago (with a history of untreated complex dental problems for many years) I appreciate the reply and hope the removal of bad teeth will get rid of my tinnitus. Oh by the way, can tinnitus get worse and does it mean impending deafness?

Tinnitus today. Check. Grinding teeth. Check. Slight stress. Check. Out comes the gum and chomp away to avoid grinding. Whenever I have a ton of things to do, I tend to grind teeth. Never equated that or stress with tinnitus. Will be more aware going forward. Thanks!

Man, your tinnitus is almost exactly at the same frequency as mine, so much that I hear almost nothing unless I rise the volumen up a notch. What is your type and frequency in KHz?

Ive had it for 35 years. Volume has reduced over the yesars by 65%. I have no idea what caused it or what makes it worse. I do know it surfaced at age 26 I was perfect health. It came / coincided with the onset of my first ever pollen allergy. In the beginning not only the ringing but I had a full feeling in my ear. If anything maybe it came with me holding in my sneezes? I have hearing loss more in my tinitis ear. Its a terrible thing

Tonal tone 5-6kHz and hearing loss. Went to 2 audiologists so far for information and going to the last one next week to make a decision. Proposals so far are Signia Pure C&G IX5, Oticon Intent 1 minirite and Phonak Audéo Lumity L90-R. I tend to go for the Phonak as they can connect with Android phones. Will see what 3th audiologist will propose before start testing. (and probably I will check out the Phonak Audéo Infinio). Audiologists with super care (most expensive) to selfservice (cheapest - yt for changing filters-domes, cleaning, connecting Android, make changes in app....)., difference in price is more than 30%

A very common contributor to tinnitus that’s often underestimated and overlooked. It’s worth seeing a maxillofacial surgeon or specialised physiotherapist that has a particular interest in the temporomandibular joint. Often a commonly offered night mouthguard may not be enough. 💫

I've been a musician and a recording engineer for almost my entire life. At 75, I now have hearing loss in one ear above 8500Hz and the other at 8000Hz. I mention this because when you demoed what your tinnitus sounds like I heard nothing. I suffer from tinnitus in both ears and it is quite loud, although I couldn't say what frequency it is because it's quite high and seems to be made up of several overtones. I liken it to the sound of cicada infestation. I have noticed that if I clench my teeth or jut out my jaw it gets very much louder and interestingly, when I do either, the pitch becomes more well defined but different. I have mentioned this to my audiologist but I don't think that tracks with him. I'm also not sure if any dentists in my area would have any knowledge of the roll teeth play in tinnitus but still it seems like something to explore.
Another thing is that certain frequencies (of those that I can hear) can cause distortion, mostly in my right ear, sometimes becoming painful. I'm not sure it it's because of the tinnitus or my hearing loss in general. Also, my father was deaf and I wonder if you might have any thoughts on whether or note tinnitus and/or hearing loss could be in some way hereditary.

My Tinnitus intensifies with brain activity (writing something complicated, doing intense analysis, long day at the desk etc). If I wake up in the middle of the night, it's silent, until I start thinking, and then the noise ramps up. Loud noise had made the volume increase over the years - most recent was a Paul McCartney concert where they let of lots of explosions at the same time (Tinnitus volume doubled after that).
