I know one dnd is coming soon, but i still plan on running 5e games, and having just got this adventure for christmas i couldent be more grateful for this playlist, i cant wait to run this.
Wonderful. I’m just about to start making a series on running The Shattered Obelisk. One dnd is basically still 5e anyway. Hopefully you can find some helpful things in it.
About to run this for my friends in the next month, I've ran half of a homebrew so I have *some* experience but I'm looking forward to running a written module and the fact there's a whole playlist/series here is very helpful, thanks!
Fun addition I had the cultists start as humans, kobolds, dragonborn, and elves Overtime they recruit orcs, barbarians, yuan ti, and lizardfolk, and gnolls Each with their own rogues gallery of captain/chief/generals Given blue robes to signify their alliance I find it helps spice up the combats Also The party has a chance to seek out each faction before or after indoctrination to attempt and recruit them as well
I highly recommend leveling up the party after the dragon is made to leave. This lets them deal with the rest of greenest more easily. With leveling them up after greenest don’t level them up after the raiders camp and then their levels will be back in track.
@@robodad1 before leveling them up they had almost died twice and barely rallied enough guards to chase away the dragons. They were contemplating not leaving the keep again so I leveled them up and they finished the rest of the night haha
One of my favorite parts of Chapter one was Save the Mill. One of my players was a Fire Genasi Bard who has Produce Flames. She goes into the mill with the others and she casts Produce Flames inside the mill. For those of you who don't know, open flames were banned in mills, often by law, because grain dust (or any particulary fine particulate dust) can explode on contact with flame. I said somthing along the lines of "The atack hits. Now,who can tell me what happens when you have an open flame in a mill?" One of my other players had read or seen the movie of Michael Crichton's Timeline, so we had a nice moment of suspence where I had the offending Bard roll a flat D20. On the 17 or higher everything was fine.16 or below: BOOM. She just BARELY rolled a 17, so they got to live that day. Good times!
Love the video! I'm thinkin of bringing my players from Descent into Avernus into a tyranny of dragons type of game. They have found interest in dragons as I've been making tiamat's activities more involved than the campaign suggests.
Have only DM'd 2 or 3 times with a pretty inconsistent group, finally got another group together that should be way better, and this is the first campaign I will be running so I'm pretty happy I found this
I'm starting this campaign this weekend, and your videos have been very helpful for preparing. I like your walkthrough style (but the music is a little loud at times for headphones) - thanks for making these videos!
Do you have any videos preparing the adventurers league modules for Tyranny of Dragons (Defiance of Phlan - Escape from Phlan)? I'm currently running these missions as a first time DM and would really appreciate advice on how to run it and weave in the lore! 😊
@robodad1 im nervous to be honest haha played alot when younger but recently started playing then my son seen some of the game and now im dming for him my missus and little brother all dnd virgin's dear God haha
This is so helpful!! The video format makes it so easy to understand. I'm going to be DMing this campaign soon as my first long campaign (done lots of one-shots). How many hours does it take to roughly get through each chapter?
Players choose the order in which to tackle them. That gives you the illusion of control. But all should be tackled by the end UNLESS the players decide to not go but there’s an unspoken agreement outside of the game that you are all going to PLAY the books.

Thank you!

I’m excited to hear how it goes for you.

Wow that’s fantastic
This is a big help for me! Just done a session 0 and having a video like this will better help prepare me DM! Great vid matey
This video is totally made for people like you. Plus getting a comment like this makes the efforts worthwhile.
Extremely awesome & wonderful video by you sir.....👽👻😉
A high compliment from a polite soul. Thank you
Thanks. I'm going to be running this tomorrow, but have had almost 0 time to prepare. This is a big help.
That makes me happy.

Great advice!

but doesn't this campaign use the milestone experience system?
@@adamuss yeah. I’m saying add a milestone level to defeating the dragon and removing a milestone at the end of the camp to balance it out

That would work really well
This helped me out so much on session one, subbed.
Glad to hear it helped.
This is so awesome! Thanks!
Ah a new user. I hope it continues to be helpful

I hope it helps a little bit on top of your prep . Best of luck with it.

A single session for short ones and two at most. 3 hours a session .
Best of luck
Hey no clue if you read these but if you do I was wondering where you got the play mat I’ve been looking for greenest maps and can’t find any
Yes I read all the comments. Search for Tactical Maps reincarnated by official ‘wizards of the coast’
From where do you have the playing mats?
amzn.to/47R1SCW these are called Tactical Maps officially for dnd
Are you meant to do all of the missions? Or just choose?
