This is what his uncle says when he tells Mahmoud not to push it and to teach her islam and how to pray. In the clip he says that she has to love it and that it cannot be forced.
I’m not Muslim but I’m Catholic, from Quebec and I agree with you. My sister dated a Moroccan guy for 8 years, they had that conversation many times and he knew she would never cover up. This is just like the Catholic Church was in Quebec for decades, women had no rights, had to submit to their husbands, couldn’t vote, have bank accounts, couldn’t get medical procedures unless their husband signed consent, had to have kids after kids, even if doctors said that it could kill them. Most women had 10-20 kids, French Canadian families were dirt poor because of it. This stopped in the late 60s because there was a revolution. The Church controlled everything until then. Again, this was the Catholic Church misrepresenting the Bible. This backfired and Quebec went from the most religious, conservative province to the least religious province in CANADA. This could have been avoided
It's clear as day to me that Nicole went there with nooooooo intention in trying to make things work. I honestly think Nicole just came there to play victim. She converted to a religion without trying to research anything about it or the culture she would be married to. The only time she did not look miserable was when she got Mahmoud to agree to bring her to his friends after he CLEARLY explained it would make people uncomfortable. Plus, it seemed Mahmoud was asking for the head scarf to the uncle's house because he knows the uncle is more strict/ religious than him so it was to be respectful. Sorry for the rant but Nicole gets on my nerves and people tend to be over critical of mahmoud.
There are women ALL IN that restaurant Mahmoud went to with his friends. Laughing, and talking freely. HE WAS RASIED TO MARRY A MUSLIM WOMAN. She was raised in the land of "give everyone a chance" and "dont judge my race/religion". He was raised saying "if you dont marry a muslim woman, you will be disowned". HE made the fatal mistake here. And no, Mahmoud expects the head scarf EVERYWHERE despite clearly telling her he didnt to get her back there.
I agree. While I might personally find his culture something I couldn't live with, I highly doubt he ever made a secret of his expectations. Maybe he was naive in thinking their relationship could work, but she was downright delusional about it. Edited to add: she's delusional at best, it's more likely she's planning on being manipulative/playing the victim.
I agree that despite her exploring Egypt before meeting him, she's much like Yve was, thinks the conservative life is optional because she's American but chooses a conservative Muslim man. Mahmoud has told her his expectations, she just thinks she can "change his life", and the entire community.
A blonde potato reviewing a blonde potato. How meta 😂 Nicole has the emotional depth of a Lisa Frank pencil case. She's definitely in it for the money. Talmbout "I'm in fashion and do Uber on the side." Nah, Sis, you're an Uber driver. It's LA, you're nearly 40 drinking a 24oz corner store can of Coors Lite. You're struggling, girl we see you 👀👌🏾 I think Mahmoud is another foreigner who doesn't realize that he won't be paid for the show and Nicole is just trying to get that check. I don't think she ever packed her apartment, she filmed from a hotel room with her parents because she had supposedly sent all of her things to Egypt but there's not film evidence that that happened.
Didn't we already see this with Zied and Rebecca in Tunisia? Its like us Americans expect the world to revolve around us even though theres like 7 billion other people living different
I think you nailed it about them hating each other and *having* to spend this time together. Nobody in Nicole’s shoes would put up with this. Flying sucks far too much for that these days.
Basically everyone this season isn’t making well informed decisions before making the decision to uproot their entire life for someone they met on the internet, THE END 😂
I stayed in Egypt for a while. The expectations for foreigners are definitely different especially clothing(modesty is highly encouraged). As for entering different establishments reversed for men only it's definitely a big thing there. They were happy to serve me tea outside but I couldn't go inside.

Seems like these expectations of hair and body covering are more an expectation of M and his family. M also knew that N comes from a very different culture and had her own preferences. It’s up to them both to be knowledgeable about one another’s expectations and deal breakers regardless of her living in his country, because nothing she is doing is illegal in that country.

I am having such a hard time believing that this storyline is not entirely fake. Not only do these two look like absolutely horrific actors, but she basically says, "I am moving to a country where I hate everything for a man who hates everything about me". The whole thing just makes no sense. ETA: Oh, OK. I was typing as I was listening, and your theory makes perfect sense about why they are even on this show.
I love the title, every time I watch 90, my brain goes, u love him\her so much u didn't research the culture and what the person might be expecting u to do or how u might need to alter some of ur behaviors to make them feel cared for and loved....
That theory that they're not actually together makes so much sense why they say "I love you" and "my love" an uncomfortable amount. It sounds like love-bombing when you're trying to pretend that you're in love with someone but really just hate them.
I feel like the producers told them whoever breaks up first with the other person won’t get paid so that’s why they keep asking each other back-and-forth “so you want me to leave?” “Are you gonna leave?” But both clearly want out.
Just to clarify, it's not all Muslims and all Egyptians that follow the rules that Mahmoud & his family follow. It's only specific, very conservative Muslims. There have been many Muslim and/or Egyptians that have spoken out and said this. So I'm on Nicole's side with this. She's learning the language, dressing modestly and covering her whole body. She just doesn't want to wear a burka or a hair covering. Mahmoud only told her these rules ON their wedding day! I think he should've told her before that. Yes, they got married too quickly. But Nicole didn't realize if she married him, she'd have to change every single thing about her life. She wasn't expected to follow those rules before they got married. So I think people are being way too hard on her. Marriage should be about compromise. Yes, Mahmoud is from Egypt. But Nicole isn't. She's already given up her country, her family, her friends and is willing to dress modestly for him. I understand why she thinks there should be some compromise on his part. He knew he was marrying an American, just like she knew she was marrying an Egyptian.
Their interactions with each other... yikes. My guess is they applied to be on the show, then separated, then got the call to be on the show, and now are faking it for... TLC notoriety? Those small TLC cheques?

In the show they only show super traditional clothing but ik damn well Egypt has some stores where u can find more modernized clothing that is still modest enough. She calls herself a fashion designer yet she can't figure this out smh😤🙄
Because she shouldn't have to. It's HER body, not his and she was dressed pretty modestly in the airport, she was really covered up. They need to compromise and she's obviously done that on her end, look at how she was dressed in America vs Egypt.
@@pippetandpossum I understand it's her body but she shouldn't have agreed to being Muslim and making these agreements with him in the first place. It is modest but for this country and the place she's in the pants were to tight(not saying I personally have an issue with the pants like I said in my comment I've worn more revealing stuff). All the clothes she's worn with him have been modest but he's just very particular and she agreed to things she should have researched. Not saying I agree with him cuz they both bother me.. I think it is important to acknowledge the fact that this “culture’s” practices are 1000000% misogynistic. Religion doesn’t give you the right to treat others like crap. He is a man telling her what to do at the end if the day. No matter what the dominant religion is in a country, people should absolutely be able to opt out of those practices without being treated poorly or potentially facing violence.
@@Sleepparalysisdemon2 it still is misogynistic. And it's a misogynistic culture. if women were in charge and men discriminated with less freedom it would be misandrystic. It's their culture but the word misogynistic is still fitting.
There's a difference between culture and religion, I believe it's their culture (or his) that requires her to cover up. Alot of atheists don't like their woman showing too much so maybe it's just him as a person
Exactly. Funny to see all these supposed people who support social justice and equality say that she's 'playing victim', and that she should assimilate (to a culture that is objectively misogynistic and patriarchic). I wonder what they would say to an Egyptian gay person? Like what, assimilate and stop being gay? Respect the religion? Ridiculous.
@Anonymous I did not say that she shouldn't stay in America, especially for her own well being. I am saying, however, that no matter how you slice it, the culture is objectively misogynistic and the idea that women should simply conform does nothing but disempower women who live in these countries who may want to break the obviously toxic norms. The idea that women, native or foreign, should just sit down and take mistreatment in the name of "respecting culture/religion" doesn't acknowledge that treating women as subhuman isn't a cultural/religious characteristic worthy of respect. Criticism of culture/religion are not always off limits like some people seem to think it is.

We can see why! That girl is a bit dense
I am dyiiing this is hilarious 😂😂 you did amazing !
I don't believe that she didn't do her research on Islam. She knew what it was when she chose to marry Mahmoud. She's just playing dumb for the cameras.
They both even said that in the video. It was discussed prior to marriage and she agreed knowing she didn't plan on following through.
She also said she married him thinking there was ..”wiggle room”…just…how.
Nicole is getting on my nerves.. she is such an air head.. 🤦🏻♀️ this is not her first time there & also she is moving there, she needs to adapt to his culture.. they are exhausting🙄
💯
I agree on Nicole but why did didn't the guy just marry a girl from his culture. Ya know
His culture has nothing to do with Egyptian culture. This guy is from another planet. Lol any Egyptian can see straight through him and we're confused.
It's not Egyptian culture it's orthodox Islamic culture. There are plenty of Christian and non secular Egyptians having fun out there
@@nonayurbeezwax Thank you for clarifying it. I just figured that is the way, but also she knew him. This is not her first time meeting him and his family. She literally lived in Egypt before the show. She knows about the culture and what the dude expects. It's all TLC drama.
That's what I thought. Two months is long enough to know some of this lmao
im muslim and i can definitely say mahmoud went about this in the wrong way. if you take the will out of covering up it’s not valid in the eyes of God. like he literally can’t do that lol. it’s frustrating
This is what his uncle says when he tells Mahmoud not to push it and to teach her islam and how to pray. In the clip he says that she has to love it and that it cannot be forced.
Completely agree
If allah commands it, is it really a choice?
@@RedxRiot Humans have free choice. That’s a right granted by God yes.
Agree. She always acts like he yelled at her or something and is trying to make him look bad and us say poor her. She is so fake.
@@spoons250 both made that mistake. He expected to marry a Muslim woman and she wanted to Americanize him.

She can be fashionable and adhere to the religious aspect. She should watch Shahida and Bilal's season. Shahida consistently slayed! Hijab and all.
Why. He willingly married a non Muslim woman. So he should accept her as is.
@ariamason but she converted. Why she did this and figured she would not have to adhere to the rules of the religion is beyond me.

Since its the other way she doesn't get the money from TLC only moahmoud would receive the payments from TLC for each episode aired.

Basically everyone this season isn’t making well informed decisions before making the decision to uproot their entire life for someone they met on the internet, THE END 😂
I stayed in Egypt for a while. The expectations for foreigners are definitely different especially clothing(modesty is highly encouraged). But married Egyptian women from a Muslim household are expected to cover up or at least dress modestly. As for entering different establishments reversed for men only it's definitely a big thing there. They were happy to serve me tea outside but I couldn't go inside.
When they were in the cafe with his friends there was a group in the background and 2 women not wearing any coverings. So this is totally strange.
100% the class thing+ lighter complexion.
There were multiple women, unscarfed, eating and laughing IN the restaurant she was in, so try again.
@@spoons250 try again with what lol. Why would I lie???....I didn't cover up when I was there unless I was entering a mosque. As for women not being allowed in certain establishment that's very much a thing out there.
@@susanblack8317 I wouldn't call it strange. There's no written rule that women must cover up but also every household is different in terms of what they expect from their women. I have Egyptian friends who cover up when their home and those who dont at all.
So they got back together for the show 😂
I used to babysit for an Egyptian family and they had beautiful children. They told me only a little bit of why they were in America, and from what I gathered they were Christian and that wasn't always safe where they had come from. I wish I knew more about that.
This couple makes 0 sense…
I’m confused 😂
Btw you did a GREAT ON POINT JOB with this one 😅❤
I think her going back and “trying again” really proves that she thinks Mahmoud is trying to control her and STILL hasn’t grasped the cultural differences. I don’t understand how a person can commit their life to a culture they know nothing about and clearly don’t respect. I’ll be so happy when they break up and this is over 😅
It’s like Nicole DOES NOT live in reality. Like she was literally born yesterday. I think when Mahmoud calls her “my love”, it’s sarcastic at this point like you would a baby
Literally
Can I just say that you are great at mocking everyone’s voices lol
I've been to Egypt and there aren't laws that dictate what women wear. It was about 100+ degrees every day so I was wearing short dresses and showing lots of skin. You're going to get attention and you'll get stared at A LOT but you don't HAVE TO cover your body and there really wasn't anything I couldn't do that I wouldn't be able to do back home.
I think it’s okay for non-Muslims especially foreigners…however, she had already converted to Muslim (it is not surprising if Mahmood asked her wife to cover up)
She converted to Islam and I think that's the main problem she didn't research or understand the religion
@Amanda Garcia and you didn't research the fact it's Muslim not Islam we all can make mistakes 😂
@@halleyanntm Even for women that are Muslim, wearing the hijab is prescribed but ultimately a personal choice - as with every religion, people are going to practice differently. Not every Muslim woman wears a head scarf

Many bloggers struggling with this season. I can understand why. I still enjoy your commentary. 🥰
Nicole just rubs me like she jumped into everything for the ~*exoticness*~ of having a partner from Egypt and thought she could just do whatever she wanted. I have no religious preference but I've always acknowledged my fiances family being Catholic. I respect their culture and wishes - never had an issue even when the topic came up with baptizing my son. In the end, it makes them happy and feel secure.
Nicole is like a sassy robot. I really enjoy of emotionless facial expressions😂. This couple is one that you know just is not going to make it and Nicole just makes decisions without thinking about them clearly.

That theory that they're not actually together makes so much sense why they say "I love you" and "my love" an uncomfortable amount. It sounds like love-bombing when you're trying to pretend that you're in love with someone but really just hate them.
There's something about Nicole, I have a soft spot for her for some reason and I can't put my finger on why. I like her❤

I feel like the producers told them whoever breaks up first with the other person won’t get paid so that’s why they keep asking each other back-and-forth “so you want me to leave?” “Are you gonna leave?” But both clearly want out.
OMG your impression of Muhamad's voice was spot on! LOL for real!

I'm also very in to fashion and typically wear fishnets and crop tops and lots of skin showing, however if necessary I know how to cover up. I could very easily find some cute things to wear and match with a hijab. Correct me if I'm wrong but he doesn't want her to dress super traditional, he just wants her body covered and her hair...
@@ichLWmich Yes. You are correct. I was talking about Ethnocemtrism. Misogyny is when women are oppressed by men. Thank you. It got me researching.
