  • In this podcast, we will explain the secret power we all attain when we let go of control and trust life. This secret power is the heart of all the Eastern spiritual traditions, especially Taoism. Lao-tzu advocated for us to seek the low places in life, essentially meaning we should embody the essence of humility. In the same way water seeks the lowest places, but at the same time is the most powerful force in nature, so too are we if we understand this metaphor deeply. What is this secret power and how can we align with it? Find out!

Another great video, Jason. I really like listening to you break down the great Eastern Masters and traditions. Your examples and explanations are extremely relatable, logical even, and understandable. You're doing great work. I've been searching and seeking really hard for the past 2 years and I've found a lot of great authors, teachers, philosophers, spiritual leaders, disciples, and so on who have, and are helping me to find my own way, guiding me within - this suffering can sometimes seem so unbearable... But thanks to you and a few others like you, I'm learning to accept, to be in the here and now, I'm learning how to not only live in a more harmonious way, but that I am Life itself, One with All. This may sound odd, but I seem to learn the most or to be able to extrapolate the most out of videos & lectures by you & Jordan Peterson. Maybe this sounds like an odd combination, but of everyone that I listen to, watch, and/or read on a regular or somewhat regular basis - Jordan Peterson and you are two of the best for me. So thank you for your UA-cam videos... And thank you for your books too... I've not yet read any of your work but yesterday I purchased Effortless Living and it will arrive in the next day or two. I can't wait to read it. Finally, I just want to let you know that you are greatly appreciated! During this ongoing process for me, this life long fascination with learning and knowing what can be known, and now the search for freedom, it's unbelievably awesome to find people like you sharing your love and knowledge with the world. Thank you for your hard work and effort in spreading Spiritual knowledge and understanding! ❤️❤️❤️ 🕉🙏☸️🙏☯️🙏

I'm absolutely blown away by your heartfelt appreciation, Vincent. I'm so glad you get a lot out of my work and also Jordan Peterson's work. I love Jordan, a genius for sure. Hearing about your journey is music to my ears my friend. It really means a lot to me when wonderful people like yourself share their own spiritual unfolding. I'm just so grateful my brother to be able to share this experience with you. Don't worry, the hard work will continue. Shanti brother.

I've always been ridiculed & thought of as weird for appreciating & seeing beyond a finished product. It takes years of hard work, maybe lots of rejection that people don't see to achieve success, but success is a state of mind. I'm not rich nor famous, but my success in life, my life, isn't measured against others. My success is peace & the happiness that comes from that. It took a lot to get here & I love that the two of you are talking about this. I'm learning every day. Thank you.

Some people possess a lovely yin humility, which is the Dao. She is one of these. The gentle space between words, the breathing space between concepts is the Dao. It is worth the patience it takes to listen and thereby resonate with this gentleness.

Great to hear from you brother. Yeah, teaching Eastern philosophy through UA-cam has taken a while for it to grow. But I've just been persevering with it while I continue to write books. I guess if you hang around long enough the right audience finds you. In the decade since I've been teaching Eastern philosophy in hindsight I probably should have taken UA-cam more seriously way back in 2009. Anyway, its great to hear from you. Thank you for the support brother.

During my divorce I would go to my father for advise,he said once that my suffering would be a benefit to others if I accepted responsibility. I had no idea what he meant and if I did have a clue I certainly didn't want the "responsibility" of helping others through the rough parts on this road of Awareness. But as hard as it is to see and hear of my fellow beings sufferings, the lightness and warmth one receives from helping far surpasses the cold darkness of isolation. We are here to help...where you are, with whatever you have, however you can...Love Leads 💖🧠👑

There is no compromising from a narcissistic master of the material world. Understanding and forgiveness is the way forward I think but it took me until recently to understand how our relationship became so strained. My self esteem suffered a lot from a lifetime of harsh criticism.

compassion, humilty and other virtues are unlocked in us by life situations at the right time, otherwise it would be too painful... something like walking through a salty mist without our skin. When these virtues are permanently unlocked in you, "you" will not be able to see any sociopath narcissists anymore, so there will be no need "to show" "your" compassion 🤗

The Tao, say's 'seek the opposite', so for 'perceived' power, seek no power. This often leads to more powerful outcomes, without the power. The sage takes action by 'what appears' to be no action. This is a wonderful study of the base line qualities of processes; being the directions. (the way) In 'a way' the Tao reveals the underlining ordination process, beyond our own ego. That when danced with, dances with you. At root is generic 'self' ordination' and the working towards, the conservation of energy.

I own a business, if I am not constantly out there doing things, my business suffers and I don't make enough money to do what needs to be done. How do I just let it go and let life happen? I would have no food on the table, my children would not have what they need and so on. Am I missing what you are saying? I would love to just sit back and let things happen, but I have responsibilities not just to my children but other people. I understand humility in not reacting to what life throws at me or what people say or think of me. Being like water sounds so freeing, I want to be like that. Maybe western thinking is too much in my mind. What are your thoughts about this? You both are right, it is absolutely exhausting to try to be who everyone expects you to be. I have been trying to be someone I am not for years. I am so tired. I do not know how to stop. In the personal growth western thinking, they say going with the flow of things, is basically ignorant. I just heard this at a conference the other day, "crap rolls down hill. Don't be like crap. Take control of your life." Thanks so much for all you do, Jason and G P.s. Who we really are becomes the spiritual quest then, instead of projecting someone we are not. We are mistaking this apparent becoming a no-one as a vacuum which has to be filled in some way, but nature always fills a vacuum, so the saying goes.

It has nothing to do with the desire to be "lowly". It has to do with realism, & not trying to interject your ego into a worldview. If anyone is desiring to be "lowly", thinking this is proper or necessary...they're not walking the path. There is no need to correct the Tao, thinking, do or eat yin to counter yang, & vise versa. The Tao balances itself because that's it's nature. Don't try to do or behave this way or that, just be sincere & calm. Humility is not "good". Rather attachment is a distraction, so avoid attachment. That will get you there.

How can Bezos be a humble man!! he's a man of yang. Amazon destroys community. Billionaires are not humble enough, I think it's a mistake, to assume monetary success, or that power over humanity means that they are men of the way. People love it when stars say humble things, it's like they come down to your level and then you run off name dropping about how down to earth they are, because they speak to you. Too easily impressed by power and wealth. Its helps these guys to pretend to be kind. It is kinder to be impressed by the common man and take community over individuals. I like your videos. Caring for community can be at odds with caring for certain individuals. I don't write off others anger, because so many are angry and abused and I feel for them too, its a sadistic spirit that laughs at the suffering of others. There are whole cultures based on sadism. Tolerating intolerance can be intolerable and those scoffing and joking at the expense of the abused are doing so for the benifit of the oppressor. Bezos, Elon, Gates, they are our idols, they represent success of a materialist ideology. If that is the unconscious archetypal projection onto the world of our highest values, then we will justify these people we idolise no matter. Care for oneness not individual exceptionalism because that is not humility.

These things sound fine, but in reality when you go limp and allow "reality" to have its way, you end up being homeless and depending on others to help you. Or if there is no one to help you, you just starve to death. "Reality" doesn't give a damn about you. The truth is, the world is screwed up, we need to use our intellect and egos to survive this place. You don't have to be an egomaniac but having an internal driving force is definitely useful to plow through hard times. A spiritual path doesn't have to be gushy fanciful fake humility. Just be yourself, be kind to others and keep an open mind.
