Taoism's Secret Power Attained by Letting Go of Control and Trusting Life
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 жов 2024
- In this podcast, we will explain the secret power we all attain when we let go of control and trust life. This secret power is the heart of all the Eastern spiritual traditions, especially Taoism. Lao-tzu advocated for us to seek the low places in life, essentially meaning we should embody the essence of humility. In the same way water seeks the lowest places, but at the same time is the most powerful force in nature, so too are we if we understand this metaphor deeply. What is this secret power and how can we align with it? Find out!

Another great video, Jason. I really like listening to you break down the great Eastern Masters and traditions. Your examples and explanations are extremely relatable, logical even, and understandable. You're doing great work. I've been searching and seeking really hard for the past 2 years and I've found a lot of great authors, teachers, philosophers, spiritual leaders, disciples, and so on who have, and are helping me to find my own way, guiding me within - this suffering can sometimes seem so unbearable... But thanks to you and a few others like you, I'm learning to accept, to be in the here and now, I'm learning how to not only live in a more harmonious way, but that I am Life itself, One with All. This may sound odd, but I seem to learn the most or to be able to extrapolate the most out of videos & lectures by you & Jordan Peterson. Maybe this sounds like an odd combination, but of everyone that I listen to, watch, and/or read on a regular or somewhat regular basis - Jordan Peterson and you are two of the best for me. So thank you for your UA-cam videos... And thank you for your books too... I've not yet read any of your work but yesterday I purchased Effortless Living and it will arrive in the next day or two. I can't wait to read it. Finally, I just want to let you know that you are greatly appreciated! During this ongoing process for me, this life long fascination with learning and knowing what can be known, and now the search for freedom, it's unbelievably awesome to find people like you sharing your love and knowledge with the world. Thank you for your hard work and effort in spreading Spiritual knowledge and understanding! ❤️❤️❤️ 🕉🙏☸️🙏☯️🙏
I'm absolutely blown away by your heartfelt appreciation, Vincent. I'm so glad you get a lot out of my work and also Jordan Peterson's work. I love Jordan, a genius for sure. Hearing about your journey is music to my ears my friend. It really means a lot to me when wonderful people like yourself share their own spiritual unfolding. I'm just so grateful my brother to be able to share this experience with you. Don't worry, the hard work will continue. Shanti brother.
I've always been ridiculed & thought of as weird for appreciating & seeing beyond a finished product. It takes years of hard work, maybe lots of rejection that people don't see to achieve success, but success is a state of mind. I'm not rich nor famous, but my success in life, my life, isn't measured against others. My success is peace & the happiness that comes from that. It took a lot to get here & I love that the two of you are talking about this. I'm learning every day. Thank you.
I'm so glad you found my channel, Cathy. I absolutely love what you said my friend.
Same here. Jason Sir is a refuge from this cruel world for me.
Some people possess a lovely yin humility, which is the Dao. She is one of these. The gentle space between words, the breathing space between concepts is the Dao. It is worth the patience it takes to listen and thereby resonate with this gentleness.
It's really interesting about humility, taking the low path, losing arguments, etc. Thank you so much for posting this! It's truly life changing.
Listened to this and felt like I was amongst friends. Thank you for this wonderful conversation.
That's because you were brother. Obviously it would be better if you were present too, but that may be for another day.
Exactly! Where can friends like these be found?
So happy and fortunate to be invited to hear you two's conversation, sharing in your paths insights, even if you both are light photons to me, i am happy and honored. You bring the far near friends. Thanks
That's wonderful to hear, Obo. Great to have friends very far seem near.
I loved that story in one of your videos a story about a farmer and his neighbors “ oh how fortunate you are , oh how unfortunate you are “ this actually really deepened my observation of life . Thank You 🙏 You are both amazing !
You are amazing Sara. Yes, the farmer and his son Zen story, one of the classics. So glad you found it.
I love all of your talks ive heard between you two. I sit and listen to you! THank you for helping others with true wisdom and insight
Wow, thank you my friend. We appreciate you.
Hey man, your channel is growing so quickly! Love to see your progress, because you've worked hard on so many different projects. Keep emitting your positive energy out there
Great to hear from you brother. Yeah, teaching Eastern philosophy through UA-cam has taken a while for it to grow. But I've just been persevering with it while I continue to write books. I guess if you hang around long enough the right audience finds you. In the decade since I've been teaching Eastern philosophy in hindsight I probably should have taken UA-cam more seriously way back in 2009. Anyway, its great to hear from you. Thank you for the support brother.
As much as you put out with this knowledge, your able to keep up with new ideas and different slants. Jason, what really resonated with me is the concept of "humbling". Thats what has helped me learn although it doesn't feel good at the time. Well done Brother.
Thank you brother. It is amazing how you can look at humility from many different angles and there is still more gold to mine.
During my divorce I would go to my father for advise,he said once that my suffering would be a benefit to others if I accepted responsibility. I had no idea what he meant and if I did have a clue I certainly didn't want the "responsibility" of helping others through the rough parts on this road of Awareness. But as hard as it is to see and hear of my fellow beings sufferings, the lightness and warmth one receives from helping far surpasses the cold darkness of isolation. We are here to help...where you are, with whatever you have, however you can...Love Leads 💖🧠👑
A beautifully authentic exchange of lucid clarity and depth. ‘ you know the truth by the way it sounds’ x
Thank you for the kind words my friend. The truth is also in your humble words.
Jason Gregory bless you sir. Keep shining. Much of my musical journey has come from a place of connection with oneself... for no other reason than that I’d love to send you some links on ? To truth x
I would like to thank you for your efforts. Your videos actually help me cope and align me and my mindful self alot during season (covid). I may forget your exact name, but I'll never forget your efforts in pulling this kind of videos, It helps a lot.
What an Ocean of Wisdom! 🙏🙏🙏
This is such a relaxed and enlightening conversation. Thanks guys :)
Thank you my friend. Glad you enjoy it.
This is the best thing I ever listen to since the bible audio 👌🏾☯️ thanks 🙏🏿
What a beautiful couple you are!. How I would love to be there with you both and join in the debate, however, I doubt I could add much to your discussions as they encompass all I need to know and much much more. I discovered Taoist principles through the wonderful Stuart Wilde and I find it to be the heart and essence of true spirituality. Love your talks and you both. Thanx from my heart!.
You are an amazing individual Jonathan. Thank you for your kind words my friend. Funny you mentioned Stuart Wilde. I remember reading 'The Infinite Self' when I was younger and I loved how he explained Taoism. Sad to see him pass away a few years ago. Thank you for all the great support, Jonathan.
Thanx for your reply Jason, he's Stuart was a great man. I adore you both two, I have much love and respect for you both and need to catch up on quite a few of your video's!.
"student mind or seeker's mind" - yes I would love to be more receptive to this way of being. "learn as if you are never going to die" - wow, wow, wow what a profound concept! Yeah its difficult to be honest about oneself. Love what you guys are discussing :-D
Glad to have you with us, Bernardo. Enjoy my brother.
A brilliant discussion, as always
Thank you, Jorgen.
Love 💛 from India 🇮🇳 Jason.
Only love for India my new friend.
Love you guys and thank you for uploading this 😍
Thanks for this information, it arrived just in time
So glad you enjoyed it, Hector.
Love love love. Thank you so for this and all you bring here!!
Thank you dearly, Madalina. Only love for you my friend.
I felt like it was both sides of the coin giving a good lesson 🥰
Definitely my friend.
@@JasonGregoryAuthor you sound Aussie lol
Thank you for this 🙏🏻🤍🪔
Thank you my friend.
You do a great job. Thank you!!
how does one show compassion and or humility in the face of sociopathic narcissism ?...obviously I'm not developed enough...
You allow other people's poor behavior to control you?
Riki Mitchell I struggled with this issue for 40 years and still am having difficulty letting go 7 years after the death of my father. There is no compromising from a narcissistic master of the material world. Understanding and forgiveness is the way forward I think but it took me until recently to understand how our relationship became so strained. My self esteem suffered a lot from a lifetime of harsh criticism.
compassion, humilty and other virtues are unlocked in us by life situations at the right time, otherwise it would be too painful... something like walking through a salty mist without our skin. When these virtues are permanently unlocked in you, "you" will not be able to see any sociopath narcissists anymore, so there will be no need "to show" "your" compassion 🤗
I like this podcast and the message of humility especially in a time like now where it's more obvious as to whats more important in life on a human level (unless the person is truly fighting against it.)
Well said my friend.
Thank you for helping me out on my path. I never understood the reason for humility. It was always an abstract concept to me. But now I that I understand the why of humility it makes practicing it all the more effortless. And though I'm not doing it to get anything, I see the results accruing in my life already. Thank you Jason.
What's the name of the guru who attained enlightenment at age 16, went forth from the householder life, vow of silence, and then explained to his mother the reason for leaving home and his vow of silence? Please and thanks.
Thank you for the gratitude, Elroberto. Great to hear that you are seeing the importance of humility. As for the guru who became enlightened at 16, his name was Ramana Maharshi. I'd recommend reading 'Be as You Are' to understand the depth of his teachings.
@@JasonGregoryAuthor Thanks for getting back to me on that! This awareness, the practice of meditation and the understanding that arises is helping me to become better attuned to my family, my society and to myself. It really does have the taste of sweetness and liberation.
Not paltry compared to the Rock! You’re doing great things! You’re *MY* rock. =D
The Tao, say's 'seek the opposite', so for 'perceived' power, seek no power. This often leads to more powerful outcomes, without the power. The sage takes action by 'what appears' to be no action. This is a wonderful study of the base line qualities of processes; being the directions. (the way) In 'a way' the Tao reveals the underlining ordination process, beyond our own ego. That when danced with, dances with you. At root is generic 'self' ordination' and the working towards, the conservation of energy.
Many thanks for this valuable content 🙏
Good to know I'm not alone 😁
Good to know you're out there my friend. You are definitely not alone.
Unicorns need love too!! unicorn-ist lol J/k solid points love this dialogue. I'm guilty of diluting my dharma with fake self images, and literally throwing away my power!!
The instant you raise Bezos to the level of wise and humble man you have lost me. He may be a giant but he has it elevated humanity unless by elevation one considers vast consumerism driven by slave wages and a rabid accumulation of personal wealth.
Thank you great stuff. Just being is heaven.
Right on my friend.
I own a business, if I am not constantly out there doing things, my business suffers and I don't make enough money to do what needs to be done. How do I just let it go and let life happen? I would have no food on the table, my children would not have what they need and so on. Am I missing what you are saying? I would love to just sit back and let things happen, but I have responsibilities not just to my children but other people. I understand humility in not reacting to what life throws at me or what people say or think of me. Being like water sounds so freeing, I want to be like that. Maybe western thinking is too much in my mind. What are your thoughts about this? You both are right, it is absolutely exhausting to try to be who everyone expects you to be. I have been trying to be someone I am not for years. I am so tired. I do not know how to stop. In the personal growth western thinking, they say going with the flow of things, is basically ignorant. I just heard this at a conference the other day, "crap rolls down hill. Don't be like crap. Take control of your life." Thanks so much for all you do, Jason and G P.s. Sorry for the lengthy comment, I am adding comments as I watch.
It's perhaps difficult to balance your freedom when you started family. Nonetheless it can be achieved if couple have common vision and they do not compare themselves against others. The universe cooperates :)
Again, excellent. Thank you.😊
Thank you Gavin. You're the best.
Well, i while ago, i fell of my bike.. ( a Stromer bike , it was a winter morning, in a bend) it was an incredable experience: i understood!
Great video, good sir! 💓💞💕💓
Thank you my friend.
Who we really are becomes the spiritual quest then, instead of projecting someone we are not. We are mistaking this apparent becoming a no-one as a vacuum which has to be filled in some way, but nature always fills a vacuum, so the saying goes.
great content!
You're the best Fredy!
No forcing , let the natural flow..... flow.
Yes, that's what nature is. It's not 'things', it's the system that gives rise to the natural things. Its in the space between things and in the things themselves.
Very helpful
Those who everyone called giants, where just humans with the capacity of everyone else...just vibrations off the self.
I have watched a few of your videos now, and have subscribed to your channel. But, who is the lady with you? You don't mention her name in the comments of your videos...seems like an oversight. I would love to know her story and background, since she seems to have so much wisdom and insight!
Hi Ed. You have only watched a few videos that is why you don't know her name is Gayoung and she is my wife. So its not an oversight. Her name has been mentioned in many videos.
Beautiful couple you two are! 💓💞💓
You know what's funny though everywhere there are artists, laborers, leaders, naturally they exist so I guess he's right everyone flows into their own channel there is no need to be told to fit in a channel It's human nature.
Don't mind me just leaving a bookmark 20:36
Jason, Love your videos and your insight and all your talks. How about you becoming Aussie cricket team's humility coach. They can benefit a lot, specially after the recent Indo-Aussie series. I am serious, not joking or sarcastic. Aussie team can benefit a lot from your wisdom. Less sledging ,more focus.
It has nothing to do with the desire to be "lowly". It has to do with realism, & not trying to interject your ego into a worldview. If anyone is desiring to be "lowly", thinking this is proper or necessary...they're not walking the path. There is no need to correct the Tao, thinking, do or eat yin to counter yang, & vise versa. The Tao balances itself because that's it's nature. Don't try to do or behave this way or that, just be sincere & calm. Humility is not "good". Rather attachment is a distraction, so avoid attachment. That will get you there.
Yea rock is very humble ,what is next mike tyson is sage
@@deniscity7247 , Hi Ronni. I have no idea what you're talking about.
How can Bezos be a humble man!! he's a man of yang. Amazon destroys community. Billionaires are not humble enough, I think it's a mistake, to assume monetary success, or that power over humanity means that they are men of the way. People love it when stars say humble things, it's like they come down to your level and then you run off name dropping about how down to earth they are, because they speak to you. Too easily impressed by power and wealth. Its helps these guys to pretend to be kind. It is kinder to be impressed by the common man and take community over individuals. I like your videos. Caring for community can be at odds with caring for certain individuals. I don't write off others anger, because so many are angry and abused and I feel for them too, its a sadistic spirit that laughs at the suffering of others. There are whole cultures based on sadism. Tolerating intolerance can be intolerable and those scoffing and joking at the expense of the abused are doing so for the benifit of the oppressor. Bezos, Elon, Gates, they are our idols, they represent success of a materialist ideology. If that is the unconscious archetypal projection onto the world of our highest values, then we will justify these people we idolise no matter. Care for oneness not individual exceptionalism because that is not humility.
I have this "supernatural" power.
Quoting Jeff Bezos about being kind. He is a billionaire who treats Amazon workers very badly and doesn't allow them to unionise to improve their conditions. Is he a good example of kindness?
Does this mean we should just drift around and have no goals?
Forgive my lack of knowledge.
Love the videos!
Goals are ok, but when your mind is more still, your intuition and spontaneous action becomes clearer.
people remember the pricks! love the topic.
I got question, is Tao more of a religion or philosophy because I’m a Christian?
I don’t want to mess things up but I like Tao philosophy and I want to apply it.
If you can’t improve the silence, be quite....
🙏
Don’t forget..coming from low places to grow... the buddha was a.....prince. So...don’t take sides, low needs hi ...yin needs yang. Explicitly different and implicitly the..same.
🌸🌸🌸
These things sound fine, but in reality when you go limp and allow "reality" to have its way, you end up being homeless and depending on others to help you. Or if there is no one to help you, you just starve to death. "Reality" doesn't give a damn about you. The truth is, the world is screwed up, we need to use our intellect and egos to survive this place. You don't have to be an egomaniac but having an internal driving force is definitely useful to plow through hard times. A spiritual path doesn't have to be gushy fanciful fake humility. Just be yourself, be kind to others and keep an open mind.
Letting go of evil is not easy
Humility is EXACTLY humiliation. Feel free to choose another word that better relates to the idea you're trying to confer.
She's pretty.
hmm.
