On your point about left hand palm against the underside of the neck/fretboard edge, I sometimes wonder about guitar reviewers going on about the roundness of the fret ends. When I first heard about that, I had to go and check my guitars, because I hadn't noticed whether they had 'sharp' fret ends or not. I realised the reason is, my hand isn't really rubbing against them.
Yeah. I lot of blues guys really put the palm of their hand against the neck for the constant bending. I have caught my hand on a fret and it sucks. They will cut the heck of you if they weren't filed correctly. But proper technique is like the way that you play.
Thanks for the video and advice! I've been playing for almost 20 years and feel like some of this might be what's holding me back. Any advice on using a guitar where the jack placement doesn't really allow for classical position without destroying your cable? I definitely prefer classical position with my extreme-shaped guitars (RR Jackson and Ibanez Falchion), but i have issues with other guitars in classical position.
Sadly there is not much you can do about that. Most of my guitars have the jack right where it sits against your leg and makes it very uncomfortable. The only one that I have that sits properly is my J Custom in which the jack points up so you can rest it against your leg. The guitars I have that I cannot sit and play like that I usually just strap it up. But, if you are having a few issues this will help your technique in cleaning up some of those areas. I try to play like this when I can but as you know that is always not the case. Thanks for watching and your comment my friend.
That's a tricky one. I rest the edge of my palm against the bridge or trem. But you take like Gary Moore, he uses his fingers against the body below the strings. The picking hand is more of an individual technique thing but for electric the standard is edge of palm against the bridge.
@ what did you see discourteous here ? i am his fan as well , i just think kids playing in guitar center is awesome,Its my opinion.i enjoy it.stop commenting without understanding the motive.
That little bit of advice will help me a lot too!
Thanks!
Thanks bro. Appreciate it my friend.
thanks fa telling me why I suck sometimes.
Great lesson. Back to the basics
That's funny. Wasn't trying to tell you you suck but this will help with your technique guaranteed.

whats wrong with a young kid playing loud at guitar center? that's the reason i go there to hear some new kids in the block playing guitar
New kids on the Block? They don't play guitars. Hell they can barely sing.
Trace is right, be curtius.
