Years ago I noticed the same high E problem with the import Wolfie's. I wondered the MIM neck could be adjusted to get more space on the high E, but didn't feel like spending $1,500 to find out. You are the first UA-camr that I've come across. who has actually called attention to it. The MIM Nuts are 1.625, the USA are 1.650. The extra .025 makes a huge difference.Interesting that the EVH Strats are 1.6875. Great video
Thanks brother. I have tried 2 different import Wolfs and both had the same exact issue. And yes....the extra little bit will make a massive difference. But I did not know that about all the nut widths. Thanks for the info.
I thought I was going insane when I first picked up a MIC Wolfgang standard and the high e kept falling off. You are the first person to ever point it out. I am a very novice player, but had never experienced that before (I own single cuts from Schecter, PRS and Ibanez and a couple of oddball super-strats and never had that occur) Thought it was a style issue - but seeing a few answers below - it makes sense now.
Yeah dude. That has to be a design flaw....but amazingly the Mexican Wolfgang I bought was EXACTLY the same way. Those are the only two guitars I have ever played that I have had that issue with. The American didn't do it and My Peavey Wolfgangs are just amazing.
I’m surprised about the MIJ EVH. Ever made in Japan guitar I’ve ever played has been top notch. My MIJ Richie Kotzen telecaster is quickly becoming my favorite guitar I’ve ever owned and every time I try a Caparison or MIJ Ibanez I’m blown away.
Yeah dude. My MIJ Ibañez's are amazing. Hell my Indo Ibanez's are amazing. I was greatly disappointed in that MIJ Wolfgang. Before I played it I had pretty much decided on getting one. Thank God I played one first.
In 2012 I bought a wolgang special made in Japan. I had to unscrew and reset the neck because the high E was literally falling off. Last year I bought a USA edward signature in ivory. That guitar is something special. Fantastic instrument. Plays like a dream.
Yeah the American was nothing like the MIJ. My American Peavey Wolfgangs are some of the best guitars I have ever played. I do like the American Wolfs but they have gotten crazily overpriced.
Ads on Facebook? I never see ANY ads on Facebook. None. Not a one. But then again, I'm running about 20 different ad blockers and a HOSTS file that's so big it generates its own gravity. Highly recommended!
Wouldn’t you just need to reset the neck to fix the string alignment issue? It happens on a lot of fender (so evh) bolt on necks. I’ve had it happen on a custom shop strat during shipping. It’s pretty common and takes maybe 5 minutes to correct.
Thanks for the nice video. I suggest trying Ibanez AZ (prestige or premium). Also Mayones regius or Aquila if there is one nearby. A Peavey Wolfgang second hand came up, I regret not going for it. I am kinda leaning towards buying a guitar with Nitro finish on it. To just seeing it aging playing it, and not to worry about dings and dongs
Yeah I have played the AZ. I like them and one is one my list of guitars to get. Yeah if you get a chance to buy a good Peavey Wolf....get it. they are amazing guitars.
I have an MIJ wolfgang, one of the older ones . I had the same issue with the high E string being too close to edge and at first it was tricky to play. After a while, I got accustomed to it. I found that I couldn't be as heavy handed with that guitar as I could with the other ones I own. As to what guitar to buy next, have you considered a PRS?
Dude I have played every PRS I have come across....and I can't find that one. and I love PRS. What he did during covid earned my respect for him as a human and a builder.....I just wish I could find one that I really like. To date.....I cannot find a guitar I like better or plays better than my Peavey Wolfgangs and my Ibanez J Custom. The search goes on. Thanks my friend.
If you want a really well made and beautiful guitar,I just bought a Jackson concept soloist walnut,it comes with a Floyd original, which the American soloist doesn’t come with, stainless steel frets on it now cause I payed to have them changed but man it really surprised me
Yeah SS frets make a huge difference. I do like Jackson guitars. I had a USA soloist that I sold to a guy in England. I sold it for 1000 more than I paid for it. Here in knoxville I can find the cheap Jacksons all day long....they never have the USA Jacksons around here. I am probably going to have to cruise to Nashville one weekend just to look for a freaking guitar.
@TraceTaylor3 I've had for a couple of weeks, but now I'm on vacation in Atlanta, and I miss it already 😀 It's my favorite Ibby so far. Up until now, my #1 Ibby was an Indonesian RGT1220 (and not any of my Japanese RG's), but the J.custom tops them all by some margin.
I have the EVH USA Signature and the MIJ version. The guitars are effectively identical. Neither have the problem you're describing - but I have experienced it on other guitars. Find another MIJ.
Good to know. I bought that Mexican one and it was exactly the same. I really wanted that MIJ but that completely shut me down. I will try to find another and play it as well. Just hard to find in Knoxville TN where guitar center has squeezed out all the other shops. Thank brother.
the only japanese brands I have owned are the Ibanez guitars and they seem much better than most guitars out of the box. My Ju Custom, which is hand built is simply amazing.
@@Guitars-GearandMusic My Japanese Yahama Revstar is amazing. As is my Japanese Ibanez AZ and Horizon E-II, and my Japanese Fender Jazz Bass. I think Fender are using Dyna Gakki - to make their MIJ instruments these days (it used to be Fujigen). But either way, generally anything made there is very high quality.
Guitar center really blows man,I have been getting my equipment from zz sounds cause I can pay as I play and didn’t start getting them from zz sounds cause guitar center screwed me on a Jackson I bought that had fake emg pickups in it and I realized it too late
Yeah dude. I went down there a while back and looked at an Ibanez with Fishman pickups I was interested in. I pulled the guitar down and there was something seriously wrong with it. It played horrible. And then the sales guy comes over and says how do you like it? I said it was terrible. There is something crazy wrong with the neck on this guitar. He comes back a few minutes later and says yeah dude.....the neck has a slight twist in it. Do you still want to buy it? I said yeah...I will give you a thousand for it. He said they had to get 1700.00. I said dude...the guitar is 2200. It will cost me 500 for a new Ibanez neck. Why in the hell wouldn't I just buy a new one. He said....yeah you can do that....then hung it back on the wall. That is guitar center. They suck. Hell, I may do a video on that.
@@Guitars-GearandMusic if I buy a three thousand dollar guitar better have gold hardware and I mean solid genuine gold. And real mother of pearl inlays

Yeah they have some that are normal. I am not down for all the weird designs and I DO NOT LIKE that cut they put all the way across the top of the body. PRS does that and they look terrible.
