Spice Up Your Tapping to Sound Crazy Fast by Adding an Extra Note....the 7th
I had to learn the solo to Don't Tell Me You Love Me in record time. I played what I heard and then years later found out I was completely wrong and yet it worked fantastic, but during this, I found a really nice way to make my tapping passages sound blazing fast by adding this one extra note.

How Hard Should You Pick and Press Your Guitar Strings?
How does the single coil sound with funky rhythm chords. Example Doobie Brothers, Michael Jackson funk guitar?
That comment about shimming was brilliant.
Thanks brother.
You need to see an audiologist. He sounds nothing like him.he is singing words no feelings to them.
I did not say he sounded like Perry.... I said he sang it better. You need to watch the video again and listen to what I said.
I got the same exact , for 279$ from music shop. Love it
Yeah great guitars for the money.
Thanks for taking time to do this. At around the 45:00 mark the clean tones single coil was amazing, even with 1 ear bud in.
Yeah dude this guitar and pups are amazing. You cannot go wrong with this guitar....and for 2k...one of the best guitars on the market against guitars that cost thousands more.
@Guitars-GearandMusic I just purchased one from Sweetwater. I havent received it yet. I'm going to deck the bridge, im a dive only guy. I have small hands and im hoping this guitar feels and plays really great. Thank You for your input and the review you did.
@@kewlbreeze6877 Nice. You will love it bro. I have small hands also and didn't have any issue jumping over to this from my wolfgangs. Had to make a couple adjustments on my playing but the neck is so nice and so fast it was worth it.
Thank you!!
You won’t find another Wolfgang with a floating trem, because they’re not supposed to. Chibsons have corrected that in the newer models, and it’s dive only like it should be. Eddie was right about blocked Floyd’s. They’re just a pain in the ass. If you notice he would take all the unnecessary parts of the Floyd too. Those springy fingers and the extra plate. They aren’t necessary and I’ve never understood them. It doesn’t really matter with a floating Floyd because it’s not making full body contact. They still aren’t needed though. Even with the d-tuna
Yeah ALL Wolfgangs are supposed to have hard mounted trems.
Excellent review and comparison. This was a very helpful video. Thank you!
Glad you liked it. Thanks my friend.
I never thought of compressed air for the hard-to-reach areas. Brilliant idea. I had my own little brainwave today: using an electric toothbrush with an old head you don’t mind throwing away. Worked really well
Yeah the air works great. Also pipe cleaners for the tight little spots.
Lol funny I just bought mine and I have a non-functional tone knob too
Yeah, I don't think they put a lot of effort into making sure everything is good.
Ibanez tremolo systems are, by far, the best systems you can find on double locking guitars!! In fact a bunch of guys put Ibanez tremolo on non-Ibanez guitar just because that's the best choice available😄 The second one is the Gotoh 1996t tremolo system, which is the best tremolo you can find for the money they ask...! There was a bunch of hate toward the Ibanez new system ZR tremolo, my S770 which is a model under the one presented here in this video had the ZR tremolo system and I can't be happier, this trem is so precise and smooth! I don't understand why the Floyd lovers can't agree on the fact Ibanez and Gotoh do better tremolo than Floyd Rose itself!?!
I think they’ve ranked these guys on the wrong lists, because some of them might not belong so high on the list but would and could be absolutely high in other categories
That clean tone is hypnotic!🔥🔥
Thanks bro. Alot is the guitar, but I have actually improved on that tone a bit also.
I think a good in-between is a prestige. Since 2020, the workmanship quality of the premium models has dropped quite a bit. I've never experienced guitars as bad as the premium models. You can just as easily buy a Prestige for 1500 to 1800 bucks that is hardly worse than the J.Custom. The prices of the premium have risen immensely and will no longer be worth the money in 2025. In addition, Ibanez releases far too many models, which are increasing every year. How is this supposed to work...
To sing like Steve Perry while playing drums is absolutely phenomenal
Bottom line: This song is at a whole new level. There's a reason it sounds so amazing. It's because it IS amazing!!!
Yes. This song is a masterpiece of music.
A slight rise on the bridge? Ibanez disagrees with you. All their manuals and technical sheets say parallel.
No no. If you look at the bridge, the bottom plate is to be set exactly level, but the top of the plate, the raised section on it, needs to be slightly slanted up. If you set that level then the bottom plate will actually be slightly slanted down.
deez nuts
Do all Wolfgang's come with the trem touching the body of the guitar?
Yes. EVH made them this way for stability. They do not bend backwards.
There aren't stupid questions, there are stupid answers.
I play and this is the way I do it it makes complete sense.
I know right!
That’s how I learn stuff as well. You make sense to me. One section at a time.
Thanks brother.
So chunking is great but if you identify a deficiency in your underlying technique you’ll have to address that first if you’re ever going to get your lick up to speed. I’m on this journey myself. I can play fast legato lines but my picking is terrible. Fixing that has involved a lot of work on basic picking technique which I neglected when I was younger. But chunking or speed bursts are a core part of my training regimen for building speed so maybe in a future video you might cover how chunking fits in with overall technique development. Keep up the good work!
Oh yeah. Thats a great idea. Thanks for the tip. I will be doing that video.
😮 Novice level and up: Muscle memory doesn't discriminate - it imbeds mistakes and slowness as readily as preciseness and speed. So, don't imbed bad technique - hard to unlearn. Best to imbed Slowly with Precision (and of course use chunking). Repeat the chunk, etude, riff methodically and technically acurate a minimum of 4 time in a row slowly, (like way slow - 40-60 bpm slow), muscle memory begins to take hold and the peice will eventually become part of your repertoire. Fairly, this should take mere minutes, half an hour. At this point, crank it up in graduated spurts to beyond what you can handle. Rinse and repeat for a weekend. Sure, you'll suck, but... slowing back down to your target speed will seem like cake. Oh, and relax all that tension in your hands - dang 😄
First... Sweet assed guitar. Second... 👋😮👋 Face slaps to wake up those that just don't get you, they'll catch up soon enough. Third... Haters suck. Fourth... Rock on bro 😊
All true. Yeah I love this guitar. It is an Indo Ibanez they only made for one year which I don't get. And yeah....the haters will always hate but I am cool with that. That comes with having a youtube channel. Thanks bro.
Dude.! . You just keep talking and repeating yourself. And to demonstrate your idea, at least play a proper lick or phrase instead of some random six note line. And that too sloppy with a horribly processed tone.
Don't really pay attention do you. See....I used the last little phrase I used last time on the previous video since this is a continuation. And funny about the "processed tone". This is from my fractal and the tone I get asked most about. So....I went to your channel to see how a pro does it and hear your EVH-ish tone....but there was nothing there. But you keep rocking bro.
I guess there are different strokes for different folks but I think this philosophy only applies to people that already have great technique. Babies go from not being able to move, to crawling, to walking, to running. Not from the crib to a sprint. Def seems like good approach if you are already experienced.
Well this is meant for people who already have some skill but are wrestling with certain things. This is not for a beginner at all.
Subscription earned, thanks Trace!
Thanks brother. Greatly appreciate it my friend.
Ah, stop, we're free wheel burning. I learned this in 84 . Let's try painkiller. I'm just messing with you. There are mostly kids. That dont understand. I learned to run when i was 12 years old in 77. Its fine now. I prefer chugging.
Yeah I should have said this was not for beginners. I didn't think about that at the time. thanks brother.
Clearly you have no clue about running or endurance sports training :) You would spend a lot of your time running slowly to build base to run faster :)
I'm not saying your wrong about guitar tho :)
Just get the evh wolfgang special for 1300 and you get all that
Well you don't. The special does not have the same appointments as the american.
My usa peavey wolfgang was $1200 brand new in 1996
There is a difference but your philosophy makes sense. Its about learning where the notes are first then increasing speed.
It does work. I would wrestle with certain parts of songs and then I started putting them together little by little at the speed to be played and I found that I not only learned it faster but it also improved the tech.
I took it out and replaced it with a real edge.
What amp were you using for the sound test? Sounds amazing in combination with the guitar
That is actually my custom patch on a fractal FM3.
I enjoyed your video. A stieght neck with no relief is the best. You should show a fret level and crown
Yeah I have been wanting to do a level and crown but most of my guitars have stainless frets and hardly need any work.
i think you need to listen to steve perry sing this song live. perhaps you may change you mind, Dean is awesome but not a better singer than Steve Perry live ua-cam.com/video/3kx24YtwPKA/v-deo.html
Great video, just got a 7 string with this on, not much for them work and I usually block a Floating tree but this system is very solid and works very well so it's not getting blocked. thanks for making this as there is very little information about them out there.
Yeah these are great systems and hold tune very well. I am very hard on my trems and I never have any issues at all with them. Thanks bro.
I love this review I have one coming in in the next couple weeks! Can’t wait!
Thanks bro. you will love this keyboard. The pad sound are simply amazing.
So can anyone who actually PLAYS guitar using an Ibanez RG with the Edge Zero II ZPSFe and who has found a DECENT video on UA-cam explaining how to do the various adjustments kindly put a link as a reply to this comment? I'm finding videos where they play (and I don't care what your level of ability is, I'm interested in the mechanics of the tremolo and how to properly set it up!) and don't do ANY setup or videos with setup that go right past my very very very simple question: How to PROPERLY set the tension via the SPRING ADJUSTMENT KNOB. So simple yet not covered ANYWHERE that I have seen.
It's not really the tension you are setting but the height of the back of the trem. I have this in a different video but I cannot tell you which one. You want the plate of the trem to be even with the body, and mine is about 1 mm above the body from front to back. If your action is correct the plate will stick up about 1 mm, if you like high action about 2mm. Once you have that adjust the plate to straight and that will give you correct tension. The beauty of the knob is if you go with different gauge strings it is very easy to get back to zero without having to turn those damn screws a million times to adjust from side to side. this pulls evenly all the way across.
The setup isn't just at the bridge. If the bar isn't in contact when the bridge is at the correct angle, the setup then moves to the machine heads. It's not done at just one end of the strings. That's why you don't see vids.
It's confusing because I've always been taught to learn slowly. If you learn at full speed, your mistakes will be harder to undo because they become muscle memory. Mistakes become part of muscle memory. If you learn slow and build up, you can catch and correct mistakes before you get up to full speed. How do you get down the correct notes and movements without first playing slowly? I would think you'd have a lot of mistakes if you went right to full speed. But I see both sides of the argument. Good video. I know I've done both - learning slow, building up practice speed to full speed and learning slow but practicing at full speed. I'd like to avoid having to undo mistakes once they are part of muscle memory. Thanks.
If your alternate picking is good, there is no reason for not to go full speed. And if it's not then work on that in isolation. I built up my speed with some shred licks from an app. And I was 48 years old at the time.
That's not necessarily true. In the video I said that you have to be cognizant of what you are doing. Once you have it down to where you know what the picking strokes are, how to start and end, then move to full speed. It is at that speed you will correct your mistakes...and that it why you have to know how to start and end. If you are ending differently fast than when you played it slow then you are doing it wrong, but practicing at a slow speed is nothing even close as far as tech then doing it at full speed. And why spend weeks working up to that speed when you can spend that time perfecting the lick at full speed.
studies pertaining to muscle memory would basically contradict this completely
How is that? I clearly said learn the lick at slow speed to learn the mechanics of it. Learning it slow is completely different muscle memory then learning it fast. You engage different muscles at speed that you do use when playing it slow.
Apart from the complete impracticality of learning something at full speed, I like the concept of intentionally misleading gullible people. It's how our entire government is designed.
At no point did I say learn it at full speed. I said learn the lick, the mechanics of it and then practice it at full speed.
I hear you! I think he means learning at slow speed but practicing at full speed, rather than learning at slow speed and slowly building practice speed. My thing is, I don't want to play at full speed and have to worry about undoing mistakes that are a part of muscle memory.
That's how to do it. When I learn a new solo, I learn it slowly to know how it goes. Once I did that, full speed in small parts. After that the whole at full speed. And to build speed quickly is to practice short bursts.
@@Bognerman14 Yes. that is what I mean. And if you understand the lick at slow speed then there shouldn't by any technical mistakes at full speed. it will be just learning to play it proficiently.
See Guthrie Govan's lesson on improving your picking technique for better, safer development.
This advice is a recipe for shoulder and elbow injury.
Exactly how is that? Playing fast will give you an injury?
I beg to differ. While you are correct that we swing wide at slower speeds, there is no reason why we cannot narrow that swing at a slower tempo, where it is much easier to control. Awareness that you bring is important, and now that we are aware, we can do exercises that narrow our swing at a slower tempo in order to train the picking hand, much the same way we train the fretting fingers to stay close to the fretboard in picking syncronisation lessons. Once the technique is comfortable, we can begin to raise the tempo. Then the part you want to learn will be much easier to take at tempo. If you try to practice at speed before the technique is ready, it is the equivalent of trying to lift the 1000 pound dumbell before you can lift the 10 pound dumbell and you will learn a lot of bad technique, possibly hurting yourself in the process.
I get what you are saying but you will engage different muscles while playing at speed then you will when playing it slow. Like I said in the video, every one has that wall from slow to fast and this is why. You simply cannot use the same tech as speed as opposed to slow. You can narrow your picking, but it will not engage the same muscles.
Maybe he's talking about finger fatigue..try playing the solo of Rock bottom of UFO you will know what he is talking about🤣👍
Tal Wilkenfeld told me to practice slow. I'll take her advice on guitar stuff.
This is dumb as fuck.
I like how u let us hear the headrush
Yeah I used to always use my FR in the room then people started complaining about it so I started running direct.
