    Dude you kill it with these pontoons, not a huge fan of the barrel design as i think if you built something to match the firepit might look better but it came out really nice and looks functional too.

    As far as the keg idea, I think you should do the keg under the table with a tap coming out the middle or out of the side with a dispenser gun, then ditch the other barrel. That way you still have room for a cooler or people to get out and around to the back. Helps prevent it from feeling claustrophobic

      How are you going to refrigerate a keg?

    • @HiFiMRY
      @HiFiMRY 3 роки тому

      Keg is an awful idea. Going to need a way to keep a 5 gal keg cold. Jockey box? Tall ice bucket? If not ice you need electricity to run a refrigeration system. How are you going to push the beer. Going to need a co2 system, lines, regulator. Going to need a tapping device (American Sankey), refrigerated or thermal lines, a tower and a faucet. You will also need a drain under the tap for overflow/ foam. And yes, you will have a LOT of foam off a keg that has been on a moving boat. It can all be done… but the cost/usage/value factor is way out of wack. Good luck!

    • @heminator12
      @heminator12 3 роки тому

      @@HiFiMRY this is all true. As far as refrigeration I'm not too sure, but as far as electricity goes, you can buy a small super quiet generator and mount it on the rear of the boat with rubber bushings so it doesn't vibrate to boat horrible. I'd imagine if you stored the keg in a kegerator or even freezer and took it out and immediately put it in the barrel, with some insulation I'm sure it would stay cold for quite some time. As far as c02 goes, that can be mounted on the back as well with the lines running under the deck and up through a hole in the floor of the barrel. There's many ways things can be done, sometimes it takes a lot of creativity but it can be done

    The bubbles in the bar top likely came from air inside the wood. I see other makers doing a seal coat before pouring the thick coat to avoid the problem you have. Personally, I'd just leave it. It's an imperfection that fits right in with the "party in the back" vibe.

    You should put a wrap around bar behind captains seat and incorporate the barrels by cutting them in half and put in a recessed cooler with a flip top. Basically just a long counter room for making cocktails etc and you’ll have more storage good luck!!!

    You might wanna look into an electric outboard. The upfront expensive is considerable . But the Pay off is reduced maintenance and operating cost over time. I would've suggested solar on your upper deck to charge the batteries, but you already have plans for that. Another thing you could do is cut the second barrel in half. Place them side by side behind the captain's chair. It would take up less space. Use the remaining butchers block as a matching counter top and put that sink you want on one half of the barrel. Keep it up. Your opening my mind on projects i plan on doing. Thanks for the videos.

    Do like a treasure chest cooler
    Retro fit a cooler or chest fridge like one of those
    Dometic ones for overlanding into a old like treasure chest looking luggage compartments and you can have cold beverages instead of limiting yourself to a keg inside the barrel which is cool but your kinda limited to one kind of beverage if you do that 😉

    Sorry to blow up the comments. But as a 20 year veteran of the beer world I think I would recommend against the keg. There are a few problems.
    1. The keg needs to be well refrigerated and settled to pour properly.
    2. You are going to need a gas system of sorts to pressurize the keg.
    3. The keg will need to be kept refrigerated at all times. If you don’t finish it that trip are you going to bring it inside?
    4. People tend to overindulge when there is a keg involved.
    If you are determined to do it, feel free to ask more questions. But I don’t think it’s realistic and it won’t work right most of the time.

    So thinking pony keg and you need room for an ice bucket to sit it in and plenty of room for ice. If you can find a smaller barrel that may be best OR consider taking your bar barrel and allowing the top to come off exposing the inside of the barrel and put you ice tub and keg inside of it with the tap coming up in the middle of it. You can still have storage below the ice tub. Now you have plenty of room to do what ever you want and I think a small sink with a 5 gal gas tank and a pump would be great to wash grill utensils in or wet a towel to clean your bar. I would make it match your fire pit for the sink. The other thing is the sink counter will give you a lot of storage space. Just some thoughts to noodle over. So one other point with the motion of the boat once you pump up your keg, you probably wont have to pump it up for a bit. Learned that with a pony keg in the truck of my car on a long trip when i was you and dumb, but hey we did not have to pump the keg. just had another thought for your barrels. Take one and cut the top off of it only about 5" and then use it to create a light fixture over your bar and mount it to your deck above.

    A half barrel will be a tight fit in that barrel, if it’s was me I would use a 5 gallon soda keg then you would have enough room for the CO2 bottle and a container for ice.But I brew my own beer and that’s what I use. I have several in a chest freezer with a thermostat that adapts it into the perfect kegerator. Another idea would be to get a round water cooler and use it inside the barrel just need to find a small keg like a pony keg, and make it to where you can take the barrel in half to fit it all in.

    Cut the barrel for the sink to shorten its depth to the minimum you would need for the smallest sink possible (to maximize space around the bar) and either do a radius cut to put it in the back corner or make it flat across the back. Put a 12V water pump inside with a water tank and run the drain through the back and overboard. The back you put on the sink barrel could extend up above the sink as a backsplash (use a rusted metal backsplash behind the sink, and at the top of the backsplash add a rusted metal shelf with rustic "L" brackets on the backside). Take the remainder of the sink barrel (if enough) or another barrel and cut it in half, put a back on it and a door on the front similar to the bar and install it just behind the helm seat for clear acrylic bourbon glasses. Then install led lighting inside that turns on when you open the door.

    The particle board edge on the table top is a bummer. My first thought though was, put some edge banding on it. It would be pretty sweet to put steel edge banding on a table top sitting on a whiskey barrel. You could even distress the steel to match the banding on the barrel. Maybe something for another project, as the table top turned out great. Love the videos.

I would recommend after looking closer at it you should have some corner gussets added for strength and stability. I am sure the guy who built it could add them. Nice concept...but, the barrel is a bit large. Maybe remove 3 slats from the barrel and reduce its diameter. Make the table top not quite so big, is there room to trim an inch or two off its diameter and the cup holders still work? On the other side cut that barrel in half, vertically. But a back on it and have the flat part up against the fence. Cut doors into those halves and add a shelf or two for storage. Leave it at that or put a narrow butcher block top on it just to have another flat surface.

    Your problem with the bubbles in the epoxy is coming out of the wood pores. Might try putting on a really thin layer, letting it dry, then doing the deep pour next time.
    Im not a pontoon type guy but love the way you explain the build as you go

    Ditch the second barrel and build an insulated/watertight bench.

    Cletter over at the freedom factory in bradington fl might have a outboard left over from his boat challenge, and think he[d love the idea of the mullet bar boat as his main drag car is also the mullet

    Put your keg in the center of the table and then but a small fridge in the other barrel that sits along the outside but you would need a low power fridge or find a way to generate enough power for one

    Turn a barrel on its side and turn that into your cooler. Some insulation and lining and you’d be set.

    I buy vintage pine Ethan Allen furniture because it’s made out of solid wood.

    Lay the barrel on its side cut a opening and use it as an ice chest for drinks!

    Use a good brush to put the apoxy on. It will keep the bubbles out.
