I'm watching a Turkish show, set in Macedonia in 1897, and they did the lead in the water foretelling and I had never seen anything like it. Then this comes up in my UA-cam...I think I know what I am going to try next!
I grew up in rural South Carolina, USA. I used to have bad nosebleeds as a child. My grandmother would take a skeleton key, put it on a string and place it with the key hanging down my back touching the skin to stop the nosebleeds. I have mentioned this to other people and no one has ever heard of it before. So glad to know the origin of this.
I live in Canada. My Mother's family is from ireland and they been carrying Keys froms génération to generation, therefor i have now a bunch of Keys (mostly old). My mom used to suspend them near to her door , so i did the same.
Ohhh sooo truly beautiful amazing ...As U walked searching for a home..An Anchor for My Children and Family and Foe..You always provide such knowledge...I sat in tears..and Your voice appears...I watch alot of you on "The UA-cam" as I say as well..Cheers J
I'm loving this practical application of magic. Thank you so much for sharing. I've always been strongly drawn to keys and small glass bottles with glass stoppers (particularly the sound the stoppers make on the bottles). And your hair is gorgeous 👌
Wow. Keys have sort of “spoken” to me for years and years. I have a veritable collection of them. Fascinating to learn all of this about keys and magic in this tradition.
i remeber going to the mall as a child and buying a goddy necklackele with bug key as a pend on it. it was my favorite for years. i feel the same. i remember i liked it bc it did seem magical to me- it was decked out in gems lol.
Thank you for sharing your resources and knowledge. My grandfather’s parents were Irish immigrants who gave up their language, and most traditions to assimilate into American society. Me and my mother are trying to learn what we can about our heritage because it feels like something is missing. I’m approaching this by adding traditional Irish magic into my practices but it’s so hard to find genuine sources that aren’t full of misinformation or are blended with other cultures and new age mysticism.
I was born to Mexican parents in the USA in March. I just happen to love Irish things maybe its because St. Patrick's day is in March. Either way I seek out food and story's and even want to visit Ireland some day. Thank you I look forward to more videos from you.
My first thought of using "a widow's key" was that it was a way to build and tighten community. It is a lovely idea for a widow to have someone with a key who can come in and check on them, help them out, etc. I like this community-building better than the idea of stealing a widow's key!
This was lovely! I know that in apalachan traditions they often make use of keys in their folk magic - particularly focused on the theme of locking away or unlocking & opening - knowing the history with Irish diaspora it's not surprising
Wonderful! Would definitely love to see more practical application of the lore and cosmology in a modern context. Really appreciate the way practical activities link up to the bigger picture in what you are offering with IPS. Thank you so much! GRMA!
So happy! After the recent move we have had. Bit of a stroke of bad luck. Will try the key protection talisman out and maybe do some dowsing in the area. Ty ty ty! GRMA 💖
Also I’d really really love to see more content about magic and how you incorporate the lore and folk tradition. It’s an area I’m really personally interested in but feel very lost trying to explore lol.
Thank you. This is great. I would love more videos like this. And thank you for all the great courses you have at the Irish Pagan school. They have helped me so much!!!💚
This is such a cool video. I had no idea. Thank you again for all that you do. I'm going to try and incorporate the several keys I have at home into my practice, now that I know of ways to use them. GRMA ☺️
Myself and my family have been having a lot of bother trying to sell our house. I think I'm going to try the sigil method when we go house hunting again soon, that it might help me to know the "right" house when I see it. Thanks for your video!
Tapadh leat! I always found keys interesting, movies about keys, but I was never one to collect anything so I mostly noticed how friends would take to them, wear them as necklaces.
Oh yes please! Do more videos like this🗝️ I've Always been attracted by a Key in my granny's house (who's a widow btw) and now I'm looking forward to do something with It💫
Really interesting, great info on the different ways you can use keys in a magical practice, definitely want to see more content like this!!! Thank you for sharing!!
GRMA! This was very interesting & I appreciate you sharing your personal practices. I have always had a pull towards keys and hadn't thought to look into key magic.
This was really interesting! I’ve always been drawn to old keys and I’m looking forward to doing some research and maybe developing my own divination technique from the info. Thanks!
1: love the new color 2: practical, modern applications of classical folk magics would be nice; especially in the format of this video. A bit of the historical lore/context and your modern interpretation thereof.
Ive been wondering about exploring witchcraft again recently. I explored it 15 or so years ago but as my sister found my items and asked to learn ive had to go back and explore but its been a long time since I did anything.
I grew up in a little village in the west of Ireland, and there was a old widow and if she got annoyed with someone she would say that she would but a widows curse on them, everyone in the village was terrified of her.
You keep little symbolic items on your keyring to attract their energies... You take them with you at all times and they unlock your home.. I have an infinity symbol among other things...
This is fascinating. My grandmother (who was a widow at least 2 times over) went to the orient when I was a younger and stole the key and ring from her hotel room. Or at least that’s what I was told. She gave the key ring to me, I’ve had it for over 20 years. Should I cleanse it at this point? Thank you!
Maybe the reason widow's keys were thought to be most powerful was because a widow would be a woman with property who was not under the power of a man? That would mean she was landed and fully under her own power, and since land was seen as a representation of the goddess then a landed widow might also represent a direct connection with the goddess/land. Anyway that's just my guess. Is key magic also useful in wealth/abundance spells?
Idk about the key on the back, but were they made of silver? Silver has antimicrobial properties so that kind of makes sense if they left the key on the face a while. The back, maybe its something to do with the body's like electric currency and the silver reacting. I don't know if they're silver, I'm just presuming. If not, if they're copper, copper has properties like antibacterial as well which is why some folk use copper dishes and cookware for the medicinal value. They could have been picking up on these things without realizing that's what is going on.
Ok I meant as I walked...and I am fresh in my studies watch would be appropriate onghm and can I use an old key...???they called me in away..I thought odd??? Ahhh the key is in the Key.. Blessings..
Question: I am in possession of my grandmother's keys and she was a widow. Would the luck of a widow still be present in her keys since she has passed on?
I have a question. I'm presuming the Widows would have known about the stealing of the keys. I was thinking of what would I do in that situation back then. I'd have a decoy key. Is there any talk or evidence that Widows kept decoy keys for this very reason? Or would it still work even if it was a decoy simply because it belonged to the Widow and was a key?
I would love to know your take on healing chronic illness. Not the sort that may kill you but the kind that causes permanent physical disability. Disability most definitely of the body not from an emotional or spiritual source. such as M.E. Fibromyalgia and genetically inherited conditions which do likewise, do you believe that such ailments, so poorly served by main stream medicine, can be helped or healed by any kind of magic?
Honestly, I'm ethically not going to give advice like that to a stranger on the Internet, and you shouldn't be asking for/taking advice like that from a stranger on the Internet, for your own sake. I do understand where it's coming from of course, and have endless sympathy for that position 😔 but it's just not safe - there's too many X factors in play.
Have you ever reused those keys? Meaning, let's say you find your perfect house and you don't need the key for that purpose anymore, would you cleanse it and then use it for something totally different, like unlocking the door to a new job or something else? I'd imagine that in an ideal world, you'd only use the key for one purpose each time, but that seems incredibly wasteful to me. And I know my nanny would have had my hide for functioning in that way lol!
What the heck, when I was about 13 or 14 I would collect sketeton keys and always sleep with them and do magic rituals with them way before I knew what witchcraft was that's so strange lololol
So relieved to hear her accent & her mention she’s from Ireland. Kinda sick of Americans with a great great great great great great great great grandma from Ireland being the “experts”.

Estate/garage sales are good places to keep an eye out for old keys. Would definitely recommend cleansing those, they can have odd energy sometimes
Blessings! This was Beautiful.

I always like learning about Irish lore & magic. Like the new color.

Love this ❤!!
LOVING the new hair color!

I really like that there is a short bullet point summary of what is tackled in the video. That makes the medium more accessible, thank you.
This was lovely!

Would you mind elaborating? I tried to search Google for this topic but I've come up dry.
This is great! Thank you for the instructions on how to use the keys for magic. I like practical things like this. 😊
I love keys..and in particular the big older ones. Love this information. Thank you ..
Awesome information...Things I would have never thought of, thank you.
I had a dream once about Key Magic, so when I saw your announcement of this video, I had to view. Thank you! I would enjoy more like this one!
I love keys, I'll only keep the keys to my great grandparents and grandparents homes/boxes
I would love to see more videos about how you make magic.
Thank you for sharing that. How fascinating!
This is so timely - house hunting and not even sure what country I want to be in! Thanks for sharing!
Please make more like this. I love to improve my own connection with the Natural world. Josie
I would very much enjoy more videos about the more and practicing of craft, connecting the two
I'd love to see more about this
That was a really nice video ! Thank you Lora !
If you're feeling it I'd be so happy to have more magical stuff on here.
Love this lore!
This type of video REALLY helped put so much of the rich information in the Irish Pagan school classes into great context. Would 10/10 watch more!!

My mom has a key collection so this made me think of her! 90% of her keys she has no idea where she got them! Very Interesting!

What material would most keys be made out of? Brass?
Ive been wondering about exploring witchcraft again recently. I explored it 15 or so years ago but as my sister found my items and asked to learn ive had to go back and explore but its been a long time since I did anything.

Growing up Granny always said to run a butter knife down your back for a bloody nose, it never worked for me but she was insistent!
Should used a key i guess?! 😉
We were always told to use the back of a big spoon. Worked sometimes lol
Would a widowers key work for the same purpose, or is there something specific about a widow?
This is fascinating. My grandmother (who was a widow at least 2 times over) went to the orient when I was a younger and stole the key and ring from her hotel room. Or at least that’s what I was told. She gave the key ring to me, I’ve had it for over 20 years. Should I cleanse it at this point? Thank you!
Yes, cleanse it in a dish of salt, then under some running water (tap, spring, river etc.)
Thank you Lora!
Maybe the reason widow's keys were thought to be most powerful was because a widow would be a woman with property who was not under the power of a man? That would mean she was landed and fully under her own power, and since land was seen as a representation of the goddess then a landed widow might also represent a direct connection with the goddess/land. Is key magic also useful in wealth/abundance spells?
This is entirely possible, though I've never come across it in the lore.
And yes, useful for unlocking anything 😉
This might be far out but do you think the shape of a key being like a sigil is the reason for using it?
Cannot find the ohm video on website please help

Actually I wasn’t looking for advice. I was just wondering what your opinion on it was in general.
Are these practices part of a closed practice tradition?
Have you ever reused those keys?
