Wow, intersting video. I drove for UPS when they were no DIADS, we used paper delivery records, hated that, lol . Ink pens would freeze up in cold weather, we had to accept cash for C.O.D.'s. Some drivers were coming back to the building with thousands of dollars in cash that had to be put in a safe. Stay safe out there, Im proud of you!!!

Trust me it is well recognized and very much appreciated by the customers to know you are delivering amazing service and enjoying it. Keep up the amazing job you do daily….. Ups should be lucky to have great individuals like yourself who delivers great care, and services to the public in Toronto…..
how hard was the integrad training? I am 19, and will aim to make this my career when I turn 21. All the men in my family have drove for them since '66!
Oh wow that’s great ! The training wasn’t too bad you have in class training for a about 4-5 days and then you’re on the road with a trainer or your supervisor for 3 days
The Teamsters Union with UPS has much more power now in their negotiations because since the pandemic more and more people are making their purchases online which requires parcel delivery.
I'm a USPS carrier. So I naturally feel bad for what u guys deal with. But, this route is a joke. This is nothing. I did more than this last Sunday. We get pounded hard....with no end in sight. It's only getting worse. UPS drives around. We have to walk all day in 5 degree below zero wind chills. I still think UPS has it worse.
Do UPS drivers need to load their trucks or is it pre loaded before you start your day by someone else? Also how do you know your routes? Is it pre planned or do you need to place packages in a certain order? I’ve been thinking about applying but I don’t know the fine details, etc. is this like a two days off/week but not consecutive like the post office? Thank you in advance and great video!
The warehouse workers on the 4am-9am preload shift have the trucks loaded by 9am (when all UPS drivers start their shift). The loaders aim to place the packages in a certain area of the truck based on the general order of stops that driver has to make on that day (the loaders have scanners that are connected to all the package label details with the addresses). The routes are planned by the building’s dispatch and they’re programmed into a handheld device called a DIAD carried by the driver. I’d say more often than not, it’s more important to be able to learn and remember the details and best ways to navigate the route, because the software on the DIAD does not always reflect the most efficient path to take. Most regular drivers work 5 days a week, many will get stuck doing 6 days until they move up in seniority and it falls on newer guys
My first day was yesterday only 40 stops but man then packages were not organized great they only let me go thru my truck for 2 min to organize like wtf lol took me 3.5 hours😂😂
I currently work for ups over here in maspeth ny. Been here for 2 years and plan on continuing. I love that ups pullover! We don't get a lot of uniform here in my center. I hope you see this!
Unfortunately I don’t have another one , believe it or not they’re actually very hard to get at my center as well and those pullovers are old so I don’t think they’re gonna be ordering anymore but I can look into it for both of you !
I just got hired as a driver and they're giving me a choice of the Brampton or Caledon location. Which one do you think I should take? Which location do you work at?
that truck light...I wished I had that I prob wouldve stayed longer, cuz they had me doing 170-200 stops with 30 pickups my first week...non peak... lol
I’m 2 years 2 months in as a package handler (21 y/o). I don’t know if it’s worth the wait or if I should go somewhere else and work full time now and work towards a house. I really see and saw myself with UPS but am I wasting time?! It’s literally preload, day, twilight, and night sort all fighting for 1 position.
I honestly can’t really speak on the package handler position, it sounds pretty repetitive though . If you’re interested in becoming a driver I would honesty suggest that . It can be pretty challenging at times but I feel like it’s much more worth it , especially once you’ve been a driver for 4 years .. based off of what I’ve heard from senior drivers .
@@itsniiikki at my hub to become a package driver you need seniority. It’s taking about 5 years right now. What state is this? I will literally move out of state if I find out a different hub will hire me as a package driver immediately
Sure. The road test is a 10 or 15 minute ride along with a supervisor. You'll drive just to make sure you can handle the vehicle. If you get the job you'll be casually used for a month or two and then let go.

What are the cons?
The pay is pretty good , can’t complain . The cons … it takes a while before you can actually get your own run in the meantime your bouncing around from area to area and it can get really frustrating sometimes . I’ll make another video to explain in my detail
Top rate brings home 6 figures a year!!
How many stops and packages do you have a day on average?
Do u all drop packages when they have no street number what u all do??becus I forget to out the street 3 an they said the package was delivered an sign but my shipping company don't have it
No they’re supposed to go back to the building for address correction .
I think of looking into ups,, will I be a stocker first and after so much time they’ll offer me a driving position or is it hard to move into a driving position?
You can Apple directly to be a driver to my knowledge you do not have to start in the warehouse first . I didn’t
I’m a ups driver. Christ I wish my truck looked like yours. I’d be done by noon
Did you start in the hub? Do I have to know how to drive manual transmission?
No I didn’t and no you don’t
Been trying to get on, but it seems so hard to do so.
Ive never had a route this light wtf lol. Lightest ive ever had was like 100 stops
How did u apply?
Very similar to being a FedEx Driver!
Except for the pay and bennies haha
the fedEx van really disrespected you like that :( 5:45
Lol right ! The audacity
I've never seen a truck that empty. Code 05 for sure
Never code 05.. we work 5 or 6 hrs and still stay 06 here
That’s a air route
Thank you for this video. I needed to see a this video to know what it’s like as a UPS delivery driver. 😊👍
This came just in time for me. I definitely wanted a females perspective. I have an interview tomorrow morning, I applied for driver position. How king have you been working there? Did you have driver experience before that? Do you have a cdl?
That’s good ! Good luck ! I have been working there for a year on the 11th. I did not have any prior driving experience and no you don’t need a cdl just a full drivers license will do
@@itsniiikki did you drive in the snow? I hesitated doing this position because of the snow here in Utah with that big truck. So I am applying as a PVD
My truck only looks like that when I'm delivering just airs LOL 😂
I wish Amazon dsp gave use branded gear like UPS. #lifeofastepvandriver. Great vid.
Since its brown won't the truck get 😒 super hotter than the blue amazon step vans in the summer?
Oh 100% those trucks have no AC , that’s why you’ll see a lot of them with the doors open in the summer time
Natural air is the best air - summer time summerrr time
looks like a rough area...hopefully you carry mace haha
Love da video 🥰 I work inside operations for Metro here in the South Loop in Chicago, and we call that truck ur in this video da BankRobber or Air Truck. Idk what yall call them trucks in your Hub 😄 🤣 😂

Jeesus, I load more stops into my private car and deliver them for UPS after the preload shift, every day. Greetings from one of europe´s oldest R&D Centers. :D
If you make more videos with content on work with UPS, and answering questions concerning it, I’m sure you would get a good amount of subscribers that are interested in it!
You seem to be informative, but this is the only video you have.
Thank you , I do plan on dropping a couple videos here and there and I would definitely do a Q&A for anyone who has any questions . This is my second video regarding ups .

How can I become a driver for UPS? Currently I’m at FedEx Ground, but I transfer over for a career purpose.
Start in the UPS warehouse as a package handler and then you sign a bid sheet to become a driver. People who have been working in the warehouse the longest get the first open driving spot. It goes by seniority.
You can also drive during every peak season too. You also have to be 21+ to drive.
You can also just apply to be a driver .. you already have the driving experience
@ItsNikki absolutely, but I’m hearing a lot about some what of a wait-list. And here where I live, whenever I check online, I don’t see any openings.
How long does it take to become a driver for ups? They have me starting in the warehouse first. Looking forward to becoming a driver.
Years 3 minimum that's if they keep you
Considering the fact that you’re starting in the warehouse I’m not 100% sure .
@@novaaceslegend3956 I stayed in the warehouse for 5 years. But you can become a driver sooner now days. Like 1 or 2 years go to HR put your name on the list ASAP
@@novaaceslegend3956 just got hired going to take the driving test an I'll start just driving right away ..
@@Jake-tq2vr did you have to go through the warehouse ? Cause I wanna start driving asap

Hey great job sis💯. I been with the company for 2 months now as a package handler how long did it take u to become a diver???
So it took me about 5-6 months to become a full time driver
@@itsniiikki thanks so much 💯
Have you worked with any driver helpers yet?? I got hired and it been 2 weeks since then and I haven’t started yet.
Yes I have worked with driver helpers before, you really have to get on your supervisors sometimes show them that you’re eager to work
@@itsniiikki ok ima give him a call tomorrow for the second time
