I had the same problem 40 years ago with my Triumph T140E Bonneville, when parked overnight the clutch plates would stick together. As the bike had no starter motor, I pulled the clutch lever in and give the kick starter a few prods to free the clutch plates. The bike clicked into first gear easily after the plates were freed off. I've heard of some Bonneville owners who didn't free the clutch plates and when they selected first gear there was a loud bang and the transmission gear assembly fell through the bottom of the casing and ended up on the ground. The Sportster bottom end can be directly traced back to the 1929 "Flathead" V-twins, so they need more care than a modern motor.
I was looking at those new Lithium Ion batteries at my HD Dealership recently. I was interested in buying one, my 2011 Harley Sportster Nightster is still under extended warranty, so I went downstairs to the shop to ask about it. The shop told me to only stick with the original stock style battery that came from the factory. They told me the brand new Lithium Ion batteries were not compatible with my Harley, and not to buy them. They explained the reasoning, which I can't remember now, but something about the new Lithium Ion batteries not holding a charge very well; or something about the performance. They did explain that the new Lithium Ion batteries were only for brand new Harley models, not mine. Anyway, the shop told me to stay away from those new development batteries, and just stick with the original stock one like I had. So while I was there, I had the shop check out my existing 2 year old battery, which showed Excellent Health. So I really can't argue with what already works. I keep my existing battery on the tender at all times I'm not riding. By the way, I did mention you in my video recently.
I just bought an 07 nightster myself I love it although it has a fuel pack I still get that hesitation thinking of getting the fuel pack 4

Would you recommend the bike as a first bike? I’m on the taller side at 6’3” but don’t want to go too big. I’m not sure if I’ll lose the sense of control with the apes.
No perfect starter bikes. 883 or 1200
TurboJosh thanks man. There’s one near me priced slightly higher than the one you sold. The bars don’t look as high as yours. I’m scheduled to check it out today. Are the controls mid or forward? They appear more forward than the mids on the 883.
Had some questions about maintenance, do you just put in the oil box or do you need to put some kind of fluid on the clutch side of the motor? Any info would be helpful
Clutch side is fed by oil I think the trans side has its own fluid where tou adjust gear chain

Can I know how many liter or quart of engine oil this nightster yr2011 takes?
The 1200 Sportster Nightster takes 3 quarts of oil.... 20/50 Mobil 1 V twin advance full synthetic oil. It works for me and never had any issues.
