      @Fraser Fir What air force has the US faced? Iraqi planes never left the ground during invasion... People die in war
      "The basic fact-no US ground troop has been killed in an attack by an enemy aircraft since 1953"
      "Since 2001, the A-10 has been involved in four friendly fire incidents that killed 10 U.S. troops. The next highest is the B-1B bomber, which killed five soldiers last year in one incident. Friendly fire deaths are exceptionally rare. There have been 45 total friendly fire incidents out of about 140,000 missions flown by the Air Force, Navy and Marines."

    Just the sound alone of this weapon of war strikes fear into all our enemies. You hear seventy thirty caliber rounds a second hitting the ground in close proximity before you even hear the plane fire. Not only accurate, lethal, and versatile, its payload is threatening. The 30cal was enough, 1000 rounds max due to the weight. But it can still carry almost anything as well. Anti-air, air to ground heavy payloads. As the senator said; simply ask soldiers on the ground how effective this is.

      A-10 has the highest friendly fire rate. Hence why it got replaced by a crop duster lmao

    • @danielcamacho1913
      @danielcamacho1913 5 місяців тому

      It has the highest friendly fire rate according to Air Force stats that cherry-picked data, for years that showed what the Fighter Mafia wants to show.
      If you include 2009 data, the B-1 is the top killer of friendlies and civilians.
      When a government watchdog group called out the Air Force on their bullshit report, the USAF said they did NOT claim the A-10 had the worst friendly fire rate, and it’s not their fault some reporter put that in a headline.
      The USAF spokesperson went on to say that the A-10 was the next most accurate plane after the F-15E and had the next lowest rate of friendly-fire per mission after the F-15E.
      Meanwhile the F-15 and F-35 each cost 3 times more, per flight hour.

      So keeping in service the plane with one of the highest blue on blue record in history and has itself one of the lowest survivability record of any Fighter/attacker in US inventory, is the best way to win a war with minimum casualties ? Like, it doesn't even have the most amount of ground unit destroyed, the fricking F-111 aardvark which was retired in 1998 did that job better than the A-10

    You know what's actually embarassing? That Congress is telling the USAF to hurry up and field the F-35, develop new drones, and get rid of old aircraft, then whines and moans about the budget when the USAF attempts to fulfill any of those missions. For that man to tell the General that its somehow HIS FAULT that the AF is underfunded for what Congress wants it to accomplish is utterly disgraceful.

    The Military-Industrial Complex, the one that keeps requesting expensive junk the military has not requested or needs in the future wars, the geniuses on the armed services committee recommended abolishing the A10 (which does not make enough month for some contractors) and swapping it out for more expensive platforms (F16, F15, B1-bomber) that would not serve as well. Sen. McCain pointed this out in a Senate Armed Services Committee.

      +1Smoking Lizard Forgive me if I'm missing something obvious, but at what point was Mr. McCain preoccupied with his phone? I went back to 0:31 repeatedly, and I think one of the gentlemen in the back may have been on their phone, but not the man himself.Personally, I believe the Chairman makes a valid point about the need to acquire a replacement for the A-10 prior to its retirement; however, the manner in which he berated General Welsh's opinion was absolutely uncalled for. Although I disagree with his stance on the issue, I have faith that the General is simply trying to do what he thinks is right. He may just be seeing a different path to a common end goal, but McCain appears content on refusing to see things from another point of view... A very experienced and decorated one at that.

      The air force wants to retire the A10 because close air support is used to defend troops on the ground. Specifically, the army and marines. He would like to see the army take over close air support and not burden the air force. Has nothing to do with whether this platform is effective enough. The A10 is a beast.

  • @Daveradcliffevegasrealestate

    McCain is a total disgrace and ought to retire. Gen Welsh is a patriot, great american and fine man. As soon as congress appropriates the money to keep the A-10 which Gen Welsh has flown, then we'll do it. We're short 700 pilots and 4,000 maintainers to date and Congress has ZERO plan how to field a new aircraft, the F-35, while keeping everything else.
