Something I think that is overlooked here is that Britain has a big Superbike culture - and a domestic series that is a lot stronger and more popular than the national series in other countries. A lot of people are used to pay really cheap prices for BSB and WSBK, at tracks where they can generally sit nearer the action and can also get into the paddock as part of the price. Other countries don’t have that strong domestic series that feeds into WSBK. So when a MotoGP round comes around, it’s something that is a lot more rare there. Yes, Italy and Spain have multiple rounds each season, so they are the exception - but others don’t and have just one MotoGP round and a domestic series way behind BSB. I think that a lot of fans who like BSB the most feel that they get much better value and access there and so feel MotoGP is too costly for them. I think they all represent excellent value and enjoy going to see them all every season.
I used to go to silverstone in the seventy’s packed crowds but so far back with the run off and fence and so flat you don’t see a lot when it moved to donnington I enjoyed it more but I do remember a time when only about 20000 turned up as superbikes got more popular Keep up the good work
In reference to attendance. I just think the problem is most of us fans are motorcycle riders and there are just less of us today (that's why Asian races are more well attended. We are spread out there isn't a gp close to me and I like watching on tv where I don't have to deal with crowds etc.
The huge problem with MotoGP is it's cost so much to watch on TV. The reality is that I can subscribe to Prime, Disney+, Netflix for a combined price that is less than half of what it would cost me to watch MotoGP. I've been a fan for years and years and I can't afford to watch it so why would new potential fans pay all that. Just my thoughts..
I have the MotoGP Videopass and it's worth ever penny. Most of the time it's too much to watch over a weekend (Friday to Sunday evening). Push the boat out and get it next season. I think they do a half year deal too from now until the end of the season.
@@thetonetosser £30 a month is I think too much to pay as it's not all year round and some times in the season, like for instance the summer break there's no races. Even if you watch all three races it's not worth it. The subscription is too high maybe they should do different cost levels. £360 per season is way too much for the amount of racing. I'm sorry it's just not value for that kind of money.
Just be glad Dixon won and don't worry that it was the last race. It's like the butterfly effect--change one thing and the outcome could be totally different. Each race exists in a moment in time. In other words, don't fuck with the space-time continuum.
Unfortunately bikes are not as big in terms of sales and therefore audience in the UK. Attendance is down at all motorcycle racing events from the huge figures of the 80's 90's early 200'0s
@marksimpson5218 it certainly feels like that. Apart from the hard-core biking fraternity, I always feel motorcycling is somewhat frowned upon in the UK, you know, "oh you ride a motorbike, you must be mad, you'll get yourself killed" kind of vibe. Meanwhile, in other parts of Europe, the riders are quite rightly viewed as super sports stars. Whens the last time you saw a positive motorcycling story on UK news screens or even hear it mentioned on say, Talksport (or any other radio station)?
No Brits in MotoGP, bad spectator viewing = low spectator attendance. There’s no hope for Brits in MotoGP I’m afraid, there’s no quick riders coming through so the future is bleak for all World Championship racing, MotoGP or SBK. I really enjoy Kieth and Harry’s efforts, thanks 👍👌
I disagree completely this country is bursting with 2 wheeled fans. TNT despite all its faults is as good as it gets for MotoGP Coverage as much as what I grew with which was Eurosport with Toby and Jules plus Channel 5 yes SHOCK Channel 5 showed live MotoGP coverage at the turn of the century with the late Chris Carter, Jonathan Green, Rob Orme and Scott Smart. TNT you get everything Free Practice, Quali the works they do give a damn when it was on Eurosport it was sporadic due to other sports coverage and Channel 5 you only got the premier class race and highlights of the 125 and 250 races although in 2001 they showed the 250 British round at Donny live due to McWilliams winning in Assen. The problem is not no British rider nonsense its that no one sees it TNT is 30 quid a month plus Dorna can't bring in new fans
@@classicsportclassictiyl8547sorry mate. There is little investment in British, American and Aussie bike talent. It's all about money and in those countries it's not a priority sport. Watch the Scott Ogden interview on here. He lives in Spain because as Scott said, it's the hub of world Championship motorcycle racing.
@@thetonetosseryep. All the successful Australians have had to move to Spain at a young age. If your family can’t do that for you, you’ve got no chance
thats right what Marini said, in 2027 not much will be change on the Bikes, only the engine, the transm., the chassis, the aero, the electronic, the exhaust system, the swingarm, maybe the tires and so on.
Having a british motogp in may is going to be wild , it could quite literally be 25°c and mint or -5 and snowing thats going to be interesting to say the least . Get a bad weekend and attendance will be about 4 let alone 40.000 😂.
There are various stands at Silverstone where you can see the bikes for over 20 seconds. Club, Woodcote, Becketts all have this sort of timeframe. Several others have 15+ seconds. I much prefer than to most of Donington, where you’re sat behind a fence and see them for about five seconds.
Price and consistency. Constantly changing the date means people can't plan their calendar and will book time off for events they always know will fall on certain weekends. Glasto is always last weekend in June. Reading and Leeds always August bank Holiday. Price needs to be about 30% cheaper. I only went this year because the Darkess were playing as you'd pay £40 to see them on their own. Screens had no audio of the grid walks and race build up. Support races should be before the MotoGP not after! I went to find the historical display immediately after the Moto2 race and the hall was empty!
I paid absolutely no attention to bike racing until i started riding (at age 35) and took an interest that way. We need more people riding bikes in the uk. That requires licence changes at 16-20, cheaper bikes, less bike theft and better weather. F1 gets car fans because people drive cars and can appreciate what F1 cars and drivers do. Bike racing is dying in the uk because bike riding is dying in the uk
motorcylce racing in britain is almost entirely reliant on aquiring new fans from the families of existing fans. its no wonder motorcyle racing and bikers are a dying breed, theres been no fresh blood into british motorcyling since Carl Fogarty had a mini Mini Mansell Mania and brought in a load of new fans. when wsb dwafed gp in britain for years, no one knew ho Mick Doohan was, everyone knew who Foggy was.
I was saddened to see masses of empty seats around Silverstone. Especially when Jake won the race. With this new calendar date next year, I reckon it will crash and burn. I honestly believe the British GP should now be held in Spain.😊
I just prefer Donington as a spectator. That’s the reason I don’t go to MotoGP at Silverstone every year and when I do it’s just for a single day. I’ll attend WSBK at Donington for the whole weekend every year. If MotoGP went back to Donington it would be interesting to see the attendance figures.
I go to both every year and would never want MotoGP to go back to Donington and hope that it doesn’t. Silverstone is the best place for it in terms of facilities, the circuit and stature of the place.
Get hold of the World Supercross Championship promoters (who are running a WC at 2 venues over 3 events) and get an evening Supercross race built up like the Daytona Supercross.
Realistically Harry, why would it matter that the revised British Moto GP date clashes with Monaco GP or Indy 500? Are those the fans that are going to turn Silverstone's attendance around? I would say no, we need to do something to win over the domestic bsb/tt crowd, many of who rate those classes of the sport as the premier events. If an F1 fan was set to miss any of the races to witness Moto GP live, I would have thought missing arguably the most boring one (Monaco) would be the one? Keith, you mention the TT app, and I agree, its brilliant for those 2 weeks, however, the dorna subscription is something like 150 euro for a year for all sessions of all classes, watch on your phone, etc (plus historic races) yet people still complain that thats too expensive!
Clashing with the TT is just idiocy, the TT is popular in Britain amongst bikers, thousands go to watch and they are the ones who go to watch racing and most likely to watch other racing too. The TT happens for 2 weeks every year and one off payment of 20 quid is a good price, the Motogp subscription price is completely scandalous, it wants to be half the price it currently is to stand a chance of attracting new fans, only die hard fans would pay so much. Whereas the TT is like nothing else in the world, Motogp in Britain is almost unknown outside of motorcycle community, most could only name Valentino Rossi as one they'd heard of, so only has the bike community for its bread and butter, so has to compete with BSB/wsbk which is much more accessible and great racing with british riders as well. Motogp is too similar to all the other popular bike championships to possibly have just 1 grand prix compete with the Snaefell Mountain coarse which currently is growing in popularity, and a 1 off 20 quid is more justifyable for outsiders who are just curious. cant just rely on die hard fans, just as important are the fans you dont have yet, the people who would watch if they knew what it was, Motogp since the paywall has no entry point for new british fans who are just flicking through the channels, the next generation. i got into motogp at 10 years old, how is a 10 year old going to discover motogp in britain nowadays? its the 10 year old kids that you need to win over, that ask to go to watch, that will be fans for the next 50 years.
@theant9821 Wouldn't it be great if there was a free to air show, even just for qualifying and the races (or even the races!). We'll agree to disagree on the dorna subscription price. I still think 170 euro or whatever it is is worth it for the moto gp content for a year (which includes all classes and all sessions etc etc), but everyone's different.
Totally agree that winning over Superbike/TT fans is the key. But they moan about Silverstone not being bike friendly and it costing more than BSB and WSBK. Would be like BTCC fans moaning that F1 costs about ten times the price…
@olemoto yeah the british scene is so good and such bang for the buck that many would rather stick with that. My local football team is good to watch, too, but I'd rather pay a bit extra to watch the Champions League now and again.🤣
@@david_new46 Yep, have made the analogy that comparing MotoGP and BSB prices is like saying you expect to say the same to watch Real Madrid as Wigan Athletic!
Just watching the video and pausing to comment. Sorry if I'm an idiot. Mir,has he not signed for aprillia because he's fed up with it all, bike not good enough, just taking the money?
Silverstone don't help themselves, once Storm Stacy's UA-cam video has done the rounds. All I can say is disgusting treatment from Silverstone staff. I feel like the organisers are trying to kill off this event as they can't be making any real profits from it
The track days argument does not work as there are simply not enough motorcycle trackday'ers that would influence the numbers on motogp days. The cost is not prohibitive either if you compare what you get for your money against almost any other elite sport or entertainment. It is NOT Silverstones fault. Their main culpability lies with having empty stands all weekend
Ducati made a mistake especially bc Marc would have taken a GP25 at Gresini (prolly Pramac too despite his bluff). Morally, Martin was the right choice. I’ll be surprised if they don’t face consequences for their greed.
MGP is great. But with more Brits than just 2 in the whole MGP paddock it could be Excellent! Sick of the endless Spanish Italian riders getting a better deal. Let me give you an example. N Antonelli spent how long in Moto 3? 9yrs! Nothing but endless crashing and still gets a Moto 2 ride! R Skinner has a year in Moto 2 and is dumped. It's hard enough for our riders to get in the MGP paddock but they don't get a chance to develop in this era. Contracts mean nothing. I'm surprised Jake has actually been given an opportunity for so long but I believe Dorna are part of the reason. Look at Sam Lowes, one year in Aprilia and the rumors of them dumping him surfaced so early in the season. Even Aleix spoke out about his unfair treatment. Enough of my rant. Day if Champions ride in is great for £80. I've done it 5x times. Ride the circuit and get the lid signed by the riders in the paddock! The Wing is awful, the stand is miles away. There's a massive space in front of the stand then a big wide circuit then a big expanse of grass then a wide pit lane, and finally the pits! Riders are like ants! And then they sink the pit lane out of view!! Jeez put the teams back up the top. I'm not paying to park as it costs enough in fuel to get there. I don't think the ticket price is unreasonable though. My last straw was them trying to force me to download an app for one event a year when they could just email the tkt or put it in the account as previously. Because yet another company wants to sell your data. Finished now does that help 😂 If Jake had won that in the top class I gtee the numbers would go up next year as the euphoria of a Brit winning the Brit GP was intense. I shouted explicit things at my TV in joy when he won! Amazing, there was years worth of pressure unleashed. Hence why I'm an avid Kent supporter. He won a World Championship as well as a Brit GP. What good did that do him
I am surprised that the Harry keeps saying that because ducati factory signed marquez, they are losing jorge and enea. Ducati was going to lose 2 riders regardless. If they signed jorge, enea would have been out a 12:19 nd so would marquez. If they kept enea on the factory team, jorge and marc would have been gone. So i am absolutely blown away why Harry only focus on Marc signing and have not thought through the obvious
Here's the thing @OMG! when was the last time you watched a motorbike advert on British tele? I would'nt know as I gave up tele over 25 yeaars ago. Back in the 70's and 80's the motor racing on tele was epic! free to watch and no ADVERTS in the middle!. Now, it's all hide behind pay walls and extras, people won't pay for so you loose more exposure,( maybe include it in with the football package). The Highlights on you tube are a bloody joke! 480p? REALLY, and you wonder why the younger gen don't care much If you would like more people to attend then you will need to up the game and ADVERTISE more. Maybe make a Series on motorbikes, jobs, How to start racing, and make the highlights of better quality and longer (on You Tube). 3 minutes for moto2 or moto3 is not worth turning on a computer to watch. You need to shove it in the face of the viewers on media, from the likes of Celebs, etc. just a thought.
Enea top ride, as we all know a Ducati is gonna be w/c who. Pecco, Jorge or Enea. Time will tell. Joan Mir, wow have too admire his doggedness in not clearing off. Honda will come back, just a question of when.
I disagree, how is having a satellite team winning the championship an indictment on Ducati? If anything I believe it's the opposite. All riders on the GP24 have the tools to win the championship. Just because they aren't in the factory? That's just ego, when you see Jorge Martin on top. JM could have just as easily stayed in primac with the #1 on his bike and challenged Marc for the title next year 😁. Also am I the only one who has noticed the huge step between the GP24 and GP23? Correct me if I am wrong but the only podiums on the GP23 have come from the sir name Marquez?
the problem with silverstone is british (mis) Managment , too many funny duddies and too many scared to throw a pebble into the pool for fear of the ripples
Personally I just don't like Silverstone circuit, it's flat and pretty boring. I haven't been for 7 years.. I went to Aberdare park and watched fantastic racing. Why the hell do they want to run next year during the Isle of Man TT ???
Forget Silverstone for moto gp leave it to f1 & bdrc. Make Donington THE moto gp track its better to watch, u get closer to the track and see more of it.
No point commenting on Silverstone as you are labelled a whinger, tightarse, negative idiot or a troll. I would love MotoGP to do well but its determined to kill itself so im not going to shed a tear. Plenty of quality racing in this country to watch.
to clash the British Motogp with the TT is just idiocy, I will be at the TT and wont be at silverstone. To put it within a month of the TT isn't ideal, the TT is expensive but its a holiday, and its absolutely incredible, nothing in the world compares. In Britain the TT has an army of fans who make the pilgrimage, and they are the fans who go to the races not just watch on TV. The BRDC know absolutely nothing about the motorcycle community, to even consider it.
It really is not. Riders love Silverstone, with its fast and flowing nature. Donington doesn’t have enough areas to sit with good views. Craner Curves is great, but too much of it is through a fence and you don’t see them for long.
Why is all this talk about #23 winning when he's only 13 points ahead of#93 who is scoring almost every race as apposed to #23 who is there but got ahead in points because of the double win?
I attended moto gp for the first time in years in 2022, brilliant weather on both days , big reasons for going John mc phee last GB gp Rory Skinner first GB gp,Jake Dixon , Sam Lowes front runners in moto 2 British interest in all classes near the front, all good, as for viewing i walked the circuit during saturday, all the main stands that were open are too far from the action i watched on Sunday at the braking area for Stowe, fast! Then Maggots entry to Becketts, both places about as close as i could get to the track! Long time fans of the sport want to get closer to the action, not be stuck in expensive stand seats all day, also the track has hugely changed since Keith's 120 thousand days I was one of them! And just isn't nearly as exciting and as involving as back then for fans, to summarize, now not enough home riders, distant viewing through car catch fences, expensive, didn't even feel like a bike event as so few obvious bikers in crowd, even had an events area! Which was mobbed Thought the event was on the track! To few races and more, would i go back? Yes but it needs to be better for the fans.
Here's my point. Couldn't make the GP on Saturday or Sunday, other plans. However it happened that Friday was my day off so maybe get a ticket for free practice? Go to book ticket. £35. Mmm. Ok, but pricey but let's go for it. Ticket in basket it then takes me to the option where I then have to pay for parking. Another £10. Fuck off. No. This is a total fleecing. Didn't go. You wanna know why only 42000 turned up that's why. I've been going to circuits for over 35 years and I've NEVER had to pay to park. Disgusting. The ticket prices have to come down and parking costs dropped. Not everyone comes by motorbike chaps.
@@heymanmotorsports49 The riders love Silverstone, in the main. But it wouldn’t matter if they loved Donington, the place just isn’t in the same galaxy when it comes to ability to host this event.
Speaking for the 3rd episode now why is the attendance low in British gp is getting a little bit out of date now and thinking to the problem waaaay to deep and long. I’ ve met aprox 10 British fans in Portimao and every sing one of them said that it is to expensive. They get by allmost with the same amount in Portugal and see a foreign country. They rather go to Scarborough for tradition. And every one agreed that they would rather see GP in Donnington.
Nothing wrong with the racing. Really enjoying MotoGP. It's money. It's not advertising or promotion it's money. It's too expensive to go to Silverstone and when you do go the viewing is awful. They block any views with advertising to make you buy grandstand tickets. Food and drink prices I'm not bothered about. It's about right. If I'm trying to get someone new to come and watch MotoGP they won't pay ticket prices plus parking plus food etc to see if they like it. The more people say it isn't about money and it's us moaning bastards the less you understand your audience. Carry on, ignore people moaning about money and when British gp is no more you can obviously afford to go abroad. We aren't all well off
You get a choice of multiple grandstands with the general admission ticket and have done for two years now, so that’s just plain wrong. Also, the weekend tickets are similar in price to a lot of European rounds and cheaper than some too. A Sunday ticket costs a bit too much, but it’s still a quarter of the price of F1…
@@olemoto so why is it still empty? Just to spite you? You are like Silverstone management, won't listen to the truth and stubborn. Carry on. MotoGP at Silverstone will die a death. No loss
Sigh. I'm going to say the same thing I always say. It's too expensive. You can't view anywhere other than a grandstand because they block your view with advertising boards. You can't get in paddock. It's a long way around track. People say a weekend ticket is reasonable, yes if you are well off and you don't take into account parking travel camping etc. food and beer prices I haven't got a problem with. Take your own. If people keep saying to people like me oh you are being a dick not wanting to pay and moaning instead of listening to the people who don't go it will die on its arse. Just because you are willing to pay their prices doesn't mean others are. Stop being a dick and listen to complaints. It's not advertising or promotion it's money and a shit circuit for fans
During this episode there's over 1000 misspelled and absolutely ridiculous words that are "supposed to be" the commentary that is onscreen ! COTA is not k Ota, Silverstone is not three different misspelled or complete words. Mugello is NOT Mello and Ducati's spelling is 6 different spelling. This is a reason for the loss or NO INTEREST in MotoGP which is NEVER correct. The average motorcycle rider is embarrassed by the incorrect number of misspelled and confusion from the unreasonable mistakes that this top tier sport deserves.
All the bikers are getting older, me included. In the next twenty years most won’t be around.
It's all about money and in those countries it's not a priority sport. thats right what Marini said, in 2027 not much will be change on the Bikes, only the engine, the transm., the chassis, the aero, the electronic, the exhaust system, the swingarm, maybe the tires and so on.
Having a british motogp in may is going to be wild , it could quite literally be 25°c and mint or -5 and snowing thats going to be interesting to say the least . Get a bad weekend and attendance will be about 4 let alone 40.000 😂.
-5 in May 😂
I have the trophy... it's fuckin beautiful...😂😂😂. Best comment ever ❤❤❤❤
Yeah, there’s no comeback to THAT answer!
Why go to a track to watch blurs whizz past once every 2 mins when i can watch on tv and see the leaders race wheel to wheel for the whole race?
There are various stands at Silverstone where you can see the bikes for over 20 seconds. Club, Woodcote, Becketts all have this sort of timeframe. Several others have 15+ seconds. I much prefer than to most of Donington, where you’re sat behind a fence and see them for about five seconds.
As many people go to the iom as silverstone.....next year will be carnage for silverstone numbers
Reunion !!!!
Gold medal in the moto2 Olympics for team GB and not a mention in main stream media. So frustrating!!!

Honda would be better off pulling out and returning in 2027
Just watching the video and pausing to comment. Sorry if I'm an idiot. Mir,has he not signed for aprillia because he's fed up with it all, bike not good enough, just taking the money?
Mir has a contract with Honda and for next season
STORM STACEY - check out his experience of Silverstone..!
Who is that vinal es guy 😅 Viñales ears must have been ringing 😅
How could it be possible for MotoGp 2024 get any better?...well a 3 way fight would make it epic.
Come on Marc will equally be fast with a factory Ducati like Martin n bastianini and he has big market so Ducati made the best choice
No...he won't be
MGP is great.
Ducati made a mistake, they lost two great riders.
Yay.
Should do both imo and cut out these new nonsense locations
Besides Craner Curves, the viewing at Donington is not great. Most of it is through a fence and you don’t see them for long.
No point commenting on Silverstone as you are labelled a whinger, tightarse, negative idiot or a troll. I would love MotoGP to do well but its determined to kill itself so im not going to shed a tear. Plenty of quality racing in this country to watch.
Mir sounds like a test rider. He's had all the passion sucked out of him 😊
to clash the British Motogp with the TT is just idiocy, I will be at the TT and wont be at silverstone.
Why do you think that the BRDC made the decision? What makes you think it wasn’t Dorna/Liberty Media who made the call?
The reason there numbers are not there is because people can't afford it with the present economic situation
And yet people can afford to pay a lot more to see Taylor Swift or F1…
Bastianini, one swallow doesn't make summer
Did Liberty Media buy MotoGP yet? They also own Formula 1.
Deal should be approved by the end of the year
Silverstone imo isn’t a bike track. Donnington is better.
Because he is in current form and climbing while Marc is slipping down...
He's also capable of winning races...Marc has not been close to winning
Ducati should have left him floundering on the HONDA we don’t need Marquez anymore we have so many talented young riders we don’t need Marquez 🤦🏻♂️
Ducati management, who we can safely say know more about what’s going on in Motogp than yourself think otherwise

Silverstone never wanted and does not want the MotoGP, they only want the corporate do's and money makers, turnover is not important its profit.
If they didn’t want it, they wouldn’t have it.
The Spanish rider overload is the problem with GP and British crowds. Too many of them; too easy for them to grab rides compared to others.
