Thanks for catching this. I always enjoyed seeing or riding on that street running section. Will miss it but nice to see progress too. Sounds like the double track project is going to take a while. Hope you can be there for the first revenue trip over the new line.
Thanks for capturing history for us! I was in La Grange a week or two ago, taking some video for my channel, although I have yet to be able to post it. All in good time. I really enjoy your videos and what's a cool surprise on a Monday morning when I get up for work. Also a good reminder that road destruction starts this morning. Lane closures go up from Charlotte to 94 and airport rd to 96 on i69. Eb 96 to eb 69 ramp is closed completely. I suspect the one off Francis rd will be as well. I believe you're from up this way somewhere but don't know exactly where so just a heads up for you and your viewers.
I am willing to bet that there are a lot of people who would rather see the trains right where they have always been for the last 100 years. I can also understand why they would want to double track a new alignment. Bitter sweet is what that is.
Hey man remember meeting me a month ago probably not I was the kid at Deshler and you were standing and I asked you what your channel was and when you told me I recognized it
Double tracking will also mean much less freight train interference as well! Now there can be more passenger trains in both directions anytime! Now next should be double tracking from Michigan City IN to the South Bend International Airport.
@@RailFanRob It's a much-needed capacity increase to shorten headways along the line; the fact that it's been single track for this long has been an extremely limiting factor for the services' expansion.
I guess photographing the train going down for the last time was hoping for to much. Guess you ran out of room on your camera. Nice catch on the light change. You can do better. You're welcome Bob
I'm glad people were sharing the last days of the interurban street running. There's no way I could have made it out there to see it myself.

Great video! Glad we made it down there in May 2021 to check it out
Hey Thanks Alex. I really enjoy your channel. Thanks for making this effort.
Thank you

Nice keeper. Can't wait to see after construction.
its sad to see that the last street running train in that town is no more
love streetrunning trains. Too bad they abandoned the track running downtown in my city
Sad to see this go. But the new track project should make the south shore way more fun to watch

Don't pull down the wires. Put a pantograph on your Tesla.😀

Why is the street running going away
Double tracking the line
Is this the last train ever for this Railroad line or will they start back up at some point?
They're suspending service through Michigan City while they double-track the line through the town.
@@crashcast_e6339 what do you mean by double track?? They are putting a second one in the street?
@@drbuttblast2387 New track in new location to eliminate going down the street. Buses will be use meanwhile to get passengers around the gap.
@@crashcast_e6339 cool.. So they must be expecting more rail traffic since they are doubling up...

Why are trains no longer street running?
