My personal favorite automatic door has been the Hen Hut Automatic door. It was only 65 dollars, and for that price it is made out of quality metal and has been reliable for months. I would recommend The Hen Hut if you are looking for an affordable and quality automatic door.
I’m glad that you all have found a chicken coop door that is satisfactory. I’d like the three options for opening and closing the door and it seems to have a good battery life.🐓
Hello Ms. Cara, Cute chicken door. I have not seen one that opens to the sides. All the ones I have seen open up and down. I have heard that Chicken Rub has some really good automatic doors. TFS! Blessings to you! ✝🕊🙏🏼💖
Very cool. I am guessing at this point it is safe to say your chicken coop build is working without any real issues? Would love to hear if you had to make any alterations to the build or if you were able to stick with what you had. Thanks and I hope you have a great day! God bless!
My question is concerning the chickens kicking or tracking bedding into the door track. Have you had that issue yet? Your rooster is very handsome also! 💙
Yes we have had this issue. Dirt and bedding gets in the track and then the door doesn’t close. I use a small screwdriver typically to clear the track if it becomes an issue - Ryan
We have the chickcozy door as well, and this is our only complaint. The track is the perfect size to get filled with bedding as the hens exit the coop. When this happens, the door will make multiple tries to close, and then will stay open. There is no warning light or anything that alerts you to the fact that the door is jammed. What this has meant for us, is that even though we have an automatic door, we have to manually check to make sure it closed at night. I am going to try adding a lip to the coop to try to contain the bedding so it will not get caught in the track. Very sad for us as we lost a hen to a predator because the door was jammed and did not close, allowing the bad guys into the coop at night.
How do you feel about it now after some months? Do you live in a place where it gets extremely cold? Sometimes it can get to -40° with windchill and I just dk how to find one that will stand up to that. Even if it doesn't need to opened during those Temps I've heard of them freezing so much they then break. Thank you for the video.
We still really like this door! I can not speak on how it does in extreme cold though. We do not experience cold winters like that here in Virginia. I am in zone 7 for comparison. It drops into the negatives only a few times each winter and typically only at night for a short period. For the most part our winters are pretty mild though. Sorry I can’t be more help on that specific issue. -Cara
Very cool door! Chicken farming has come a long way. The automatic door sure beats the old fashioned way of keeping the chicken door open with a stick and or hook 😅 Great review Cara!
I would love to have a rainbow basket full of all different colored eggs one day! There are several different breeds that lay each color. Olive Egger hens typically lay green.-Cara
@@bluebirdhomestead ohh really? I didnt know that. I have a hen that lay light blue.i think its the white one with some kinda black around its neck.i just dont know the breed..we have very small space so it would be not ideal to get all the hens i like.they poop so much I have to clean their coop everyday 😂.faye
@@gracieshomeandgardens5089 haha yes they do make a bit of a mess, that is why we move ours around the yard as much as we can. There are all different colored eggs, google "rainbow chicken eggs" pictures, there are pink, blue, green white, light brown, spotted, dark brown. So many fun variations. :) -Cara
We are in zone 7 with milder winters so I cannot say for sure, because I don’t have personal experience. We currently use normal batteries in it (there are other options for charging) and they do need replaced a little more often in colder weather. Our is also slightly protected from rain because of the roof so it has never iced over. -Cara
Do you still love it? I lost 3 girls to a raccoon, looking for an automatic door that is tried and true, can't afford to go wrong and have to buy another one.
Hey. I think this coop door is NOT able to protect our chicken from predaters. I have test many coop doors, but this one the most insecure from all! Kind regards from Germany ☺️
Which one do you like the best? Do you live in an area where it can get extremely cold? Sometimes we can hit -40° with windchill and even though it would not have to be open those days I've just heard they freeze so much they break. Thank you.
@@Starz1288 here we have temperatures from - 20 degree Celsius if it is realy "cold" 😉 My favorit coop opener are the AXT VSD from Germany whit a separate clock, or the "Chicken Cooper" solar opener from Austria. They are not realy cheap, but they make a very good Job 😊🐔🐔🐓🐓
Sorry to hear that! We haven’t had issue with predators accessing the door. Make sure the door is closely fully. There is often dirt in the track of ours that prevents the door from closely - Ryan

I like this door. Note that if the door is in an area where racoons can access it they can pry the door open. My coop is fully enclosed and secured

It is really nice to be able to have variability in the options to close it, that was something that our last door was lacking. -Cara
I love that there is an anti-crush function and that is opens from the sides.
That is a great feature for sure!

Opening side to side is a nice feature if your coop didn't have space for it to go vertical.
This is so great! I need to replace my coop doors soon and I was looking at an automatic door, so thank you for this video!!
Glad we could share it with y'all! :)
What a fancy door 🥰 I love it especially the colour and stickers which Rooster 🐓 appreciates 🥰 lovely video Cara x
Aren't those stickers so cute!? I always appreciate a good sticker haha
I've been skeptical about these doors! I couldnt decide if I liked them or not 😆 So nice to get an honest review ❤
The first one we had defiantly wasn't the best, but we like this one so far :)
cool video! I like the door, The battery reading is a great feature. I forgot how cool your coop is! haha
The battery read out is defiantly a big plus on this door! Thanks! :)

I check my girls are in EVERY night anyway@@rubatoguy
So in theory it might be better option to go with the up & down doors instead of side ways ?

Excellent I’m sure the ladies will be much happier not get stuck in the door 😂. Have a lovely weekend, Ali 🇨🇦
Indeed, they were rather grumpy if they got stuck outside before
They’re adorable 🥰 I like that door.
Thank you!

Indeed! That was one of my chores growing up, to let the chickens out each morning, I like the "laziness" that this one provides haha -Cara
Ohhh wow.i love the blue eggs.what kind of gens is laying blue eggs.hope that works for you guys

Looks great. Will this door work in northern climates where we get lots of snow and cold?

Just curious with the track being on the bottom does debris get in it and keep the door from closing all the way
We have never experienced any issue with it closing.
Dang I wish you could have sent me the old one
I could have used it
