      @RhodesArtwork  11 місяців тому

      Ty so much for the kind words. Yes, with a go pro i could achieve that view. The problem is i have heart failure and i kind of have to wear a respirator while painting to protect my lungs and heart, and i was afraid that also having a go pro strapped to my head as well as the respirator might would be too much. But maybe there would be another way. I'll look into it...:)

      @@RhodesArtwork good to hear back from you, I was not meaning a Cam belted to your forehead, because that would definately be cumbersome, I was meaning maybe suspend a cam from the ceiling or like an L bracket which would hold the Cam with its lens downwards ... don't attach a Cam to your head as that would distract your concentration

    Big fan of your artwork. But, got to say as a Chemistry major and a spray paint artist myself, that mask does almost nothing for your health other than filter out the fine paint splatter, it doesn’t filter out the chemical fumes. You need the gas mask looking respirator with activated charcoal to filter out the volatile organic compounds ( VOC’s), tuluene, acetone, xylene. These are all neurotoxic and horrible for your lungs. Get the mask made by 3M at any paint store with the black stripes, which is organic vapor cartridge, and add the particulate inserts. With this mask on you can breathe fresh air and not inhale any of the bad fumes. Keep painting man!!

    • @RhodesArtwork
      @RhodesArtwork  6 років тому

      Ty for that info...i have one with cartridges now, but not sure if its the one your talking about or not. I'll check on that...i really appreciate that...:)

    • @eyeguyeyeguy1
      @eyeguyeyeguy1 6 років тому +1

      I guess I was talking about the 3M half mask respirator 6000 or 7500 series mask with organic vapor cartridges 3M 6001 with a 5P71 prefilter, held on with a 501 retainer. I see they do make some of those “dust” style white masks with activated charcoal, and you could have that. The way to tell, is put on the mask, spray a bunch of paint on your paper, breathe in through your nose and if you smell any fumes at all, your mask is not protecting you. With the proper organic vapor cartridge, no chemicals can get in to your lungs.

    • @RhodesArtwork
      @RhodesArtwork  6 років тому

      I might have the right one then, because my wife came out to the garage the other day and i guess a skunk sprayed near the garage and she started gagging...i was like what? then i took the mask off and was like...OMFG!!!!...lmao

    • @eyeguyeyeguy1
      @eyeguyeyeguy1 6 років тому +1

      Yeah, sounds like you do, if you cannot smell fumes through it. Sorry if I was wrong, thought you just had the dust type mask, wanted to make sure you were protected. If you ever want to upgrade to the painters style mask, with filters on both sides, it is really easy to breathe with these on. Keep on paintin’.

    • @RhodesArtwork
      @RhodesArtwork  6 років тому

      Cool....and actually you are correct...i did have the paper mask to start out with, but i upgraded and got the cartridge kind about 4 months ago...:)

    Can you paint an entire room like this?

    • @RhodesArtwork
      @RhodesArtwork  2 роки тому

      Yes, actually you can, it just requires some planning, and bigger versions of what i used in this painting. Also it would require a lot of spray paint, unless you use latex. If you do use spray paint on that large of a scale make sure to cover and tape off the areas you dont want paint on, and makes sure the room is very ventilated and wear a respirator and cloths you dont care about.

    I like the picture you painted for your aunt. I'm using an airbrush and have been struggling with "open water" affect. Like how you did the white over the blue with a straight edge. Looked to me you were using a razor blade? Maybe an old credit card?

    Can someone explain why he used the flames? Is it to dry the paint?

    • @RhodesArtwork
      @RhodesArtwork  Рік тому

      It does help cure the paint faster, but to be honest with you it is more for show...lol. It is better to just use a hair dryer or let it sit for a few minutes in between stages. It does hasten up the drying process a bit, but a hair dryer would do the same thing and is safer...lol

      Ty so much. It's white spray paint that i spray on my table then drag a piece of cardboard through it to get paint on the edge...i then run it back and forth on the poster board to create the waves. The colors i used were: Spa blue, Brilliant blue, Deep Blue, White, Almond, and Khaki.

    • @RhodesArtwork
      @RhodesArtwork  6 років тому +2

      I use rustoleum 2x ultra and you can get it just about everywhere even on amazon. The cloud template is pretty easy to make...just take a section of a piece of your posterboard and tear out a ruff shape that you like. You can also use the same template to make hills or mountains in other spray paint art...;)

    • @patfrey7242
      @patfrey7242 6 років тому +1

    • @RhodesArtwork
      @RhodesArtwork  6 років тому

      Your quite welcome...:) No, it was on poster board, just make sure to use the glossy side when you do it. You can actually spray on anything you would like, just make sure it has a glossy coating so the paint doesn't absorb. Please make sure to subscribe to my channel so you can stay up to date on future paintings and to show your support...:)

  • @impulsivecrafting
    @impulsivecrafting 6 років тому +1

    Very pretty, but I don't understand the reason behind lighting the clear. It's nowhere near the paint and not drying it. Seems like a waste. LOL Use a blow torch. :D

    • @RhodesArtwork
      @RhodesArtwork  6 років тому

      Tyvm...:) And lighting the clear helps to seal the paint. If it is to close it will catch the paint on fire, and using a blow torch would also catch the paint on fire. Spray paint is flammable, but a lot of spray paint artists use the flame to help seal it quicker instead of using a blow dryer or just waiting it out.

    • @impulsivecrafting
      @impulsivecrafting 6 років тому +1

    • @RhodesArtwork
