Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 will be added to your library with the Bundle purchase and will be available to play as soon as they are released.
Both titles are planned to be released within 2024.
The original 1996 version of Resident Evil is now available to buy on GOG.
Although it was ported to PC in 1997, the original Resident Evil has not been not widely available for purchase on modern PC storefronts. On Steam, currently none of the original Resident Evil games are available to buy.
However, that 1997 PC port - as opposed to the remake which was originally released on GameCube before being ported to HD platforms - can now be purchased from the GOG store, priced at £8.99 / $9.99.
GOG says it will also be bringing the original PC versions of Resident Evil 2 and 3 to the store later this year.
Players who intend to buy all three can purchase a bundle for £20.99 / $24.99. This makes the original Resident Evil available now, and makes the second and third games available once they’re released.
The new GOG release of Resident Evil is based on the 1997 PC port of the game, but has been updated to ensure full compatibility with Windows 10 and 11.
The game includes new rendering options and various modern fixes such as improved cutscene timing, an improved video player, an improved DirectX game renderer and issue-free game exit.
It also offers full support for modern controllers, including Xbox Series, Xbox One, Xbox 360, DualSense, DualShock 4, Switch, Logitech F series and more.
Each title offers different language support. For all the details, please refer to their individual product pages. Your Special Tactics and Rescue Squad has been choppered to a remote mansion to investigate a biotechnical experiment gone hideously wrong. Before you can say “mass murder,” you’re plunged straight into a deathtrap writhing with man-eating freaks, swarming crows and rabid dogs.
Arm yourself with knives and flame-throwers scavenged from dead teammates. Solve puzzles, disarm traps and unearth mysteries. But beware: every move you make draws you deeper into the deadly embrace of Resident Evil.

As a 25 yr old man I try and tell everybody that original RE2 is top 3 greatest games of all time and my personal favorite survival horror game BY FAR.
Yh one of my fav games ever, RE2 Remake looks so clean (which sucks) and isn't creepy or scary to me at all
RE2 98 is by far the greatest horror game ever made hands down.

I wouldn't expect a console release of this trilogy.
GOG themselves made this possible with permission from Capcom.
That likely means Capcom themselves were not working on these games to begin with, so I don't expect console trilogy.
Only way I see that being possible is if these ones sell well and fans are vocal about wanting console versions.
I bet this trilogy will sell very well on GoG so that Capcom will release it on console too. Money is power. They will do it 100%!
The majority of my pc games are purchased on gog.
This is amazing as I LOVE these versions of RE 1-3 (tho DS is my favorite version of 1) and hey ya never know they could release a console (PS/Xbox/switch) version someday who knows Capcom does like releasing collections
GOG doesn't do ports, they pretty much make the games work and it's all based on the original physical versions of the games, so not a big surprise.
The reason GOG is good is because it is DRM free and you can play off line. That is the main draw of GOG. They really do want to archive games

It is probable that Capcom is conducting market research to gauge the potential success of this product. Ideally, they will incorporate the SourceNext iterations of installments two and three.
A feasible strategy would be to develop remastered versions of all three games, akin to the recently released Tomb Raider remaster collection, and make them accessible across various platforms.
I hope that the SourceNext ports of Dino Crisis 1 and 2 will be made available.

Dics can rot. GOG is DRM-Free with offline installers. Buy it, download the installer and burn it to as many discs as you want.

GOG is not a launcher even tho they have one. You actually don't need a launcher to play your gog games and they're drm-free so GOG is really the ultimate place to buy any game if you dislike DRM and stupid launchers 👍

I so badly want this collection on Switch! Why it hasn't been done yet is beyond me, Capcom would make EASY money if they did that! It can't be that hard considering we got Tomb Raider and Metal Gear Solid collections on Switch, so obviously RE would run so why not?
I love the games I from gog, I absolutely HATE launchers…. I decided to build my first gaming pc since 06 because I figured things have improved since then(last pc I built o was excited to move from IDE to a SATA hard drive for increased performance ) and things would be better right…WRONG!!! First game i downloaded was gta 5 that I bought through steam, Soo what happens when you attempt to play it? Well leta say you just turned on your pc. Okay….first launch gta.exe and the game loads right?….nope! It loads into steam, uhh kinda annoying but I buy all my games through steam so well yeah that’s cool makes sense, Soo now the game loads right?? HA NOPE! After opening gta.exe it loads steam then launches rockstar launcher?!?!?!? Soo in trying to start one(1) game I’m now waiting for two launchers and o wait wait now I need to create a rockstar account to play???? Soo because I wanted to do the right thing I have to wait for a launchers launcher to launch a login screen to hopefully get to the game?!?!?!? Man I miss the NO-CD cracks we used to use back in the day

Re2 was the first one I picked up one thing I can see from the first resident evil to the second as the second had a lot better backgrounds, especially like in the bus scenes and like the sidewalks leading up to RPD even in there too the first time I had the control in my hand I couldn’t even get out of the first street( down from kendo’s shop - lmao I was like 6 I think- and just because I died so easily I had to get it so I think I rented it with my friend ( from PALMER VIDEO) - that was before Blockbuster lmao 😂 -and we just ended up beating it. Eventually, I think nemesis was the first one I ever bought. But man how impressive have the games gotten from back in the day till now it Amazing I still remember the first time I played resident evil four on the demo and just saying myself how amazing it looks ( if resident evil one two and three in the newly ported games was like upgraded to at least resident evil for original graphics. I feel like it would still have that old school feel but not laggy as much - and fun it’s cool for us to still have the files. I feel like everyone should have a copy of resident evil. Some way. Some how 😂
This is a weird Capcom L. sure re-releasing old classics is great. But It which is those half ass OG ports of RE trilogy. Expect to be unexpected if the remaster of dead rising 1 is gonna be half ass as well

My first time with resident evil was on PC I bought the first original but I didn't have the PC to run it, those were my first 3 original games, you could play with the keyboard when I played re2 remake with the controller I couldn't do it at first it took me long time to get used to the controller, I don't know why gog is cashing in there are many mods free even hd versions, I think Capcom will take them down when they announce the trilogy with the success of marvel vs Capcom fighting collection
And how are we supposed to get it with no Credit card or a Gift card worst decision for one I would rather have it for steam least they have gift cards to use
Game's kinda broken on Steam Deck. It installs but crashes when trying to boot.
They may release a classics collection eventually digitally.
I bought these original games on my ps3 recently. I’m not sure if I bought 1. But I know I bought 2 and 3 and one of those games was bundled with another. So I’m pretty sure I bought all 3 original resident evil games on my ps3. I had to add funds to my PlayStation account online, and then it let me buy them on the store from them funds. I nearly cried when I played the start section of 2 and 3 because I’d never had the chance to play them before. So. If anyone has an old ps3. There is a way to buy them already.

GOG's MO has always been to make old games playable on modern PCs, these are the PC originals with some QOL patches but not remastered

Could be prime for playing on something like a Steamdeck, which is great for lower quality games as it feels like a retro handheld in those moments and you’re not always expecting anything cutting edge.
Classic rebirth before this was my number 1 preferred way to play the trilogy but i might give this ones a try later, already got the 1 and 2 and i might experiment if these are compatible to the Classic REbirth dll.
They are, you can toggle to the Japanese version and install the patch exe and Classic Rebirth dll.

I feel like Gamecube version of RE2 & Nemesis played on Dolphin Emulator with Seamless HD Project is still the way to go.

I love the Resi games, and i will get these on GOG... But PLEASE by the name of Hades hairy butt hole..... remake, remaster or just damn straight release the original Dino Crisis and the SOCOM US NAVY SEAL games.
I really like what was done with the recent Tomb Raider trilogy. New coat of paint you can toggle on and off, modernized control options, largely the same experience for better or for worse
FINALLY another game video 👏 re1 director's cut was the first game I played after hearing about my girlfriend's cousin playing a game where a guy got his head chewed off by a zombie. Then re2 had just come out at the time and I played that and shortly after re3 nemesis(I still miss this version of the game, the remake was ok but not this game or the terror the stalking nemesis gave you or even the same "stars" that I would say around the house 😊👍)I don't play on pc but I agree about preserving games for replay and future generations. They should make a game vault that you have an account to and can purchase and play the games forever like the old days. Now with the internet/online they can just rewrite and erase things without any say from you(even of you "bought" it)nowadays it just feels like renting at full price 😔 you could still get a nes or snes, GameCube etc. Put in a game and play today if it worked and that just won't exsist for alot of stuff today in the future...makes me sad.
Resident evil 1(1996) was initially released only for Playstation. But now classic trilogy only for PC? this is a joke.

Love this. And thanks to GoG for doing this. It’s great to actually be able to own digital games.
I also like that they made in-game button remapping simple and easy to do. Even though I prefer seeing the door scenes, being able to skip the door loading screens is nice. Ink ribbons also not being required to save is nice, although I wouldn’t have minded if they made that an optional thing.
And one last thing but I hope we’ll get Code Veronica at some point. It’s never had a PC release.

The original, not that horrible mess from the US dual shock edition or whatever it was, this one has the normal music.
GOG is better than Steam because they will never have clicker and phone game trash on it because those games were never good.
God I'd love this collection for the switch it would be a blast and even to this day the Original Resident Evil 2 is still the best one to this day at least to me.

With discs, yeah. But in an age where discs are being totally phased out in the PC gaming market, this is nice to have.
there was never a digital release of the original version. This edition is more polished anyway: modern DirectX, modern gamepad support and so on.

If you got a ps3 you can buy it cheap on the psn. But I also own the physical copy which also plays flawlessly on the ps3.
