I purchased the system new from Amazon for $70 back in 2019 and have deemed it one of the best purchases I've ever made. I'd have a really hard time paying $300 for this Steelseries system, even considering the companion software features and RGB lighting. It still probably doesn't sound anywhere close to as good as the Klipsch 2.1 system.

The Creative Katana V2 has had a pretty positive response and I think they're in a similar price range as the Arena 7. I've had the Creative Katana V1 for a few years and it sounds fantastic, absolutely zero regrets, they say that the V2 is a real step up in comparison.
I also have a Katana V1 and it's been decent since they fixed the speaker pop a few months back. I like how it fits under the monitor. I've debated getting the V2.
Some features I've seen involve more power, new connections, and advanced headphone support, but for general gaming/TV is there really much of a sound difference between the original Katana and the V2?
Bought a new place and was looking for a speaker system for my office. Think I'm picking up the Arena 9 and this video couldn't come at a better time! I've bought a ton of products based off your reviews the last 2 years & I've yet to be disappointed. I love your takes and content keep it up Brian! PS: See you at the Novel Keys meet up 😉
Would love to see you compare these to the Klipsch Pro Media 2.1, a classic that was in my opinion (likely still is) the best 2.1 speaker set you can get for a PC.
Tbh if u plan on spending money on good speakers for gaming and overall use, I'd recommend Kanto yu4 or Kanto Yu6 speakers. Both sound and build quality are amazing, easy to setup and adjust to whatever you like + the look fits way more setups overall and doesnt specifically bring that "gamer" vibe. The bluetooth function works amazing as well! You dont really need a sub with it but if u do combine em, it really brings out the potential of the speakers! Way better investment imo
@@MMA_Cholo Yes! As long as you have the option to plug the speakers in. You have multiple connection options and even a bluetooth mode. I connect mine either to my PC, but whenever I have people over, I set them up in the living room and can connect them to either bluetooth by just plugging them in, or to any console or TV with the aux connection. I also have their sub paired with them but that's really an added bonus if you're looking for something extra. They sound and look amazing. I'd still recommend them over anything else tbh. Later, a second machine demanded a sound system and I went with the Vanatoo T1E monitors with the same sub and the Hel2E. The T1E is very impressive, though the price is getting up there and they do take a fair amount of desk space. Best of all, both sets of monitors work well with the Steam Deck over bluetooth.
My main concern with desktop computer speakers is its longevity. Specifically its volume knob. if you live in a place that is hot and humid like I do, the volume control will get destroyed.
Absolutely not. I'm in Miami, and these types of systems last for years. Hell, I've got a z625 system in my workshop thats not insulated or heated/cooled at all and that system has seen every bit of south Florida weather over the past nearly decade, and looks/sounds like new

Ugh, who wants to reach around behind the sub to turn the system off/on and adjust sub levels. The Logitech Z623 puts all that right on a desktop speaker. Most people put a sub this size on their floor next to their PC under a desk. Who wants to reach down there to operate this speaker system.
Can you confirm that all the input sources are able to mix for simultaneous playback? and if so how does the quality hold up and do the volume levels drop?
I'm using a Logitech z906 with a optical connection, and that thing shakes the crap out of my apartment. I put it at 50-60% playing CoD in the shipment map, and my wife sitting next to me and we can't hear each other talking.
I like the concept of this. I'm starting to use my speakers more gaming and don't want to add another piece of hardware to my desk. Plus I tend to sit a ways from my desk in some titles where I use controller. I'm trying to find something and not sure what outside of maybe a usb C Lavalier microphone. Any suggestions?
Well looks like someone's going to have to start checking out desktop or bookshelf monitors for comparison, and probably much better audio. I am loving the aeon x opens btw, what cans do you use for gaming?
This actually looks very interesting. 1 question though, must the Arena Mic be used in conjunction with Arena speakers in order to fully utilize the noise cancellation/echo from the speakers? I read on their website and it is suggested so.
"Gaming features" aside most people would be better off with larger monitors, they have both decent bass and good resolution, the only real minus is that they take more space but the difference in sound quality is worth it if you have it. And no, no one needs the LEDs on their speakers or in general but if you must have LEDs buy separate lighting.
I would cosinder buying those 5.1 for my console for gaming and watching movies, especially that two rear speakers are wireless! Whould that be a good choice for a price or is there something else more catchy? :D
It really needs to beat the Logitech z623/625 by a significant margin to be worth buying. Those are the value for money kings at the moment and I doubt they will be beaten any time soon, especially when considering the "gaming" branding premium.
Is it better to keep the headset connected to the gamedac and not the speakers? Also is there pros and cons from using the monitor 3.5 jack or plugging into a ps5 via usb c cable in the front?
They will be larger as there is no sub to handle the bass, so the satellites need to do it - the arena 3 also has no tweeters, so the whole frequency range is handled by the l+r speakers. I imagine they will still be decent for the money, just not as accurate. But tbf if you want accurate monitors, don’t buy gaming ones, pick up some H-series Yamahas or something like that :)
I have the Logitech z625 with optical cable , it's a great sound but it's too medium freq.. I'm looking for a full range speakers.. I don't know if this arena 7 will do that
Just bought these for xbox x and ps5 - how do you set it up? Both system hdmis going into rog monitor. Usb doesnt work connecting directly to system. Used 3.5 to the mo itor and the speakers work but no bass. Why are there absolutely NO vids or articles on how to set this up.
I built my PC few months back I bought Edifier 1280DB's...and I love em! Bass is killer for 2.0 setup. Seeing these...Im jealous of owners. They look awesome! I just wonder how the sound is... look superb tho. Maybe next time
I _loathe_ gimmicky, overpriced gamer gear. But even I apparently can be coerced when things like RGB and background software can serve a practical purpose. I've been generally impressed with Sonar for how complete and flexible it is, and in the rare instance it works, the Engine plugin that connects with Discord to change the lighting during specified events is incredibly nice. My favorite configuration has lighting change to a solid red when muted, which is extremely helpful in the fight against rambling for ten minutes before realizing I've been muted the whole time lololol. So yeah, changing this lighting rule from a mouse to a full backsplash is way too appealing to me. Not to mention how flexible the setup is on the surround version where the rear speakers are powered and wireless. This just checks too many boxes and I'm sweating from even _thinking_ of the guilt I'd suffer from dropping almost $500 on speakers; I'd likely die from the stress if I actually saved a few paychecks and clicked that "buy" button 🥵
I have 2 pairs of Logitech Z533 that were less than $100 when I got them. They have adjustable bass and go louder than I would ever want on my desktop. Would never ever use them for gaming since headphones are objectively better.
i have the z623 set from like 15 years ago and it is still impresses me all these years later for how much it cost. its been replaced with around $4,000 worth of stereo now but it beat all sorts of stuff i tried out in the $300-$1k range over the years. the performance for the price of them is just amazing. a great little set of speakers that would perfect for a lot of people.

Absolutely not. I'm in Miami, and these types of systems last for years. Hell, I've got a z625 system in my workshop thats not insulated or heated/cooled at all and that system has seen every bit of south Florida weather over the past nearly decade, and looks/sounds like new
@@Luke-qs2cg good for you mate! I might have had the bad lack for having 2 different speakers and a headphone failing with the same exact problem. two logitec and one creative.
@@AnoopTony no independent repair guy around where you lived?
@@drippingout6154 for the creative speakers, the volume control knob was on the aux cable that connected the speaker and the system. So i replaced the cable and i use the same speaker for the last 18 years. But i didn't had the luck with the headphones. the cost of the repair didnt make much Sense.
@@AnoopTony yeah maybe because labor cost, I replaced power supply for Logitech Z506 cost 17USD including labor cost
amazing review ome again king.
What do you recommend as speakers for a desktop setup? Cost is not a concern.
Been using the same Logitech 5.1 speakers since like 2007, still going strong. 99% of the time I'm using a headset anyway.
Same dude
Can somebody do a sound review of these, in comparison with Edifier and Logitech speakers?
I'd love to see a review on the Arena 9 or setting up a custom surround sound system on PC.
Great. I'll complete my purchase then. Cheers my man.
I feel like as long as the speakers are good it's always worth it. Though it is kinda funny seeing a gaming brand make speakers.
Ugh, who wants to reach around behind the sub to turn the system off/on and adjust sub levels. The Logitech Z623 puts all that right on a desktop speaker. Most people put a sub this size on their floor next to their PC under a desk. Who wants to reach down there to operate this speaker system.
Just gotta say that beard is majestic
**Slow Clap** expertly executed Dad Joke for a title. I’ve never been prouder.
Review Steelseries then have a new Razer V3 PRO sitting on the desk, I SEE YOU I SEE YOU BST!!! Awesome stuff man
Can you confirm that all the input sources are able to mix for simultaneous playback? and if so how does the quality hold up and do the volume levels drop?
I'm using a Logitech z906 with a optical connection, and that thing shakes the crap out of my apartment. I put it at 50-60% playing CoD in the shipment map, and my wife sitting next to me and we can't hear each other talking.
Excellent review, thanks so much
My ancient Altec Lansing ATP3's are dying and I was looking at the arena 7, nommo pro and soundsticks 4. This one looks nice.
You should check out the edifier 350db 2.1 setup they're 50 dollars more but boy do they soumd good
Well looks like someone's going to have to start checking out desktop or bookshelf monitors for comparison, and probably much better audio. I am loving the aeon x opens btw, what cans do you use for gaming?
I just got mine today, i wonder what a good EQ is
excellent and thorough work. !
Been using the Bose Companion 20 speakers for about a year and they have been fantastic.
This actually looks very interesting. 1 question though, must the Arena Mic be used in conjunction with Arena speakers in order to fully utilize the noise cancellation/echo from the speakers? I read on their website and it is suggested so.
No need any. Mic will work with echo canceled
@@pandar3n459 Thanks!
@BadSeed Tech, which speakers and sub would you suggest for music listening for a MacBook Pro?
I own a Logitech G560, but I don't know if I should switch with SteelSeries Arena 7 2.1.
I like your room setup. It looks like a grown-ups setup.
Do you have any experience with the Logitech G560 speakers for reference? Seems like that might be the main competition here.
AVR + speaker set for better investment
I want the speakers for music. Are the speakers good for music? For gaming I got the Arctis Pro Wireless ;)
How will this compare with Creative sound blaster katana V2? It's also a 2.1 audio system with headphone jack, in a sound bar format.
No way a soundbar will compete with a wide stereo field like this
Marketing team: "So when will we tell everyone when our products are coming out?"
Steelseries Executive: "Today."
Marketing Team: "Umm, okay...so which products?"
Steelseries Executive: "Everything."
Marketing Team: "I'm sorry what..."
Steelseries Executive: "EVERYTHING!"
How long are the cables ? will this setup work with a standing desk if i leave the sub on the ground?
Bruh this title deserve a like on its own.
These are 20% off on Amazon's Black Friday sale 11/24/2023. Just a heads up.
It really needs to beat the Logitech z623/625 by a significant margin to be worth buying. Those are the value for money kings at the moment and I doubt they will be beaten any time soon, especially when considering the "gaming" branding premium.
This is what I want to know, do they way sound better ?
Is it better to keep the headset connected to the gamedac and not the speakers? Also is there pros and cons from using the monitor 3.5 jack or plugging into a ps5 via usb c cable in the front?
I wish you reviewed Arena 3 too. That one is more compelling for the price. They are also a lot larger than this one.
They will be larger as there is no sub to handle the bass, so the satellites need to do it - the arena 3 also has no tweeters, so the whole frequency range is handled by the l+r speakers. I imagine they will still be decent for the money, just not as accurate. But tbf if you want accurate monitors, don’t buy gaming ones, pick up some H-series Yamahas or something like that :)
whats the mouse pad you use i like it
Would be interesting to compare to soundblaster Katana v2 soundbar with subwoofer to this Steelseries Arena 7 speakers. Same price.
arena 7 is one of the most sweet system for pc I think
I cant express how much I enjoy these reviews. Even if its a product I have zero interest in I still find myself watching these
10/10 Title!
I have the Logitech z625 with optical cable , it's a great sound but it's too medium freq.. I'm looking for a full range speakers.. I don't know if this arena 7 will do that
How do these analog speakers compare to a 2.1 soundbar via optical?
Solid video buddy
Solid review!
G560 is better because G560 support DTS : X (can support decoding all surround sound for movies), but Arena not support anything.
So many great videos, it's not something I'll grab because I prefer good headphones at my PC setup.
How do these compare sound wise against Klipsch Promedias I wonder
We're gonna find out bc I really want to know. About to order the Heritage now.
@@badseedtech did you get the heritage promedia to compare? I'm torn between this arena7 and them. Thanks
Sooo I can use the speakers without software I suppose? If i plug it in to my xbox?
Just bought these for xbox x and ps5 - how do you set it up? Both system hdmis going into rog monitor. Usb doesnt work connecting directly to system. Used 3.5 to the mo itor and the speakers work but no bass. Why are there absolutely NO vids or articles on how to set this up.
If you’re willing to look at more speakers, check out the JBL Professional 305p
Dude, help me, What's the length of the cable connecting the speaker to the subwoofer?
$379 CAD whats the point of getting this over the YU2 from Kanto?
does the arena mic have a lot of latency with the ai noise cancellation?
If my PC doesn’t have a USBC port can I still use these
Need to test Sound Blaster Katana V2 with steelseries arena 9 wondering which is better ;)
Please, do a review on the Klipsch speakers
i would invest in the sound but ive already spent too much money on audio....
Cuántos watts reales ofrece el arena 7 De los 160W que ofrece los Logitech G560??
Nah, get reference studio monitors. Much truer sound profile to what was designer by the devs.
Man, those new headsets are already making me regret buying the Pro and I haven't even seen your review yet.
