- This week of trying to speedrun Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy was probably the most frustrating week of my life. But all my improvement made it worth.

You're actually really good for how little you've played. The trick to not raging or getting frustrated is just accepting it and thinking of it as practice.
Unexpected life tips
Reacting to failure is a self fulfilling prophecy, it causes you to get more angry, intentionally not reacting is really helpful. It works for stubbing your toe too.
@@brooksfaucette296 Thinking bout how much something hurts makes it hurt more. In some ways you can trick yourself to thinking it doesn't even hurt at all although it still will a bit :)
I think that’s why it’s called getting over it you have to get over obstacles of frustration and let it go

I first beat it 2 years in, took 20 hours but happened eventually.

I just got a sub 1:40 somewhat recently. This video reminds me of back when I got those times and how happy I was to get them. It feels weirdly nostalgic thinking about the start of my somewhat painful journey. Thank you for this video, it was a wonderful reminder of the insane skill ceiling to this game.

This game has been out for a long time but halfway through your video I decided to get it. Your videos are really good!
I actually really love this game! I’ve played it a lot more (I think), but less consistently (and also I didn’t know about the trackpad tuning thing) so my best run was a 13 min 13.917 sec
The game means a lot to me, but I feel like I probably invented a lot of that meaning for myself, and not all of it was intended, but nonetheless this game is beautiful (if frustrating at times) to me. Love your channel, and best of luck!
(To be clear, I mean I played it for a larger length of days, maybe not hours; I've played for about 80, maybe 82 hours)
Dude I am quite impressed as to how fast you have progressed through the game, I have about 50 hours and my best pb is 4:30 but that was pretty lucky and my avg was probs 10m. Nice vid btw :D

This has to be one of the most satisfying ends to the week long challenges. Over an hour to sub ten, and now you're finally over it
This game is literally my fav game atm, my first run way 2h 40m and my pb is now 3m 23s and I’m still trying to improve and I’m on my 52nd win can defo agree that practise makes perfect and you typically get a good hang of it on your 10-15 playthrough

Your first speed run was super good. I did a casual run on my channel and I used some of your techniques
getting over it has become a zen game for me. My pb is 6:24, and I play it to vibe because I fall so little now. I have truly gotten over it.
Great video, 15 minutes for a 7th win is pretty good. You'd be close to sub 5 by 50 wins. Hope you try pogostuck or jump king someday they're the same experience. (pogo being much harder than goi)

Tip: Make your arm more relaxed (especially for orange)
my pb 3:22 and btw on your first speedrun the reason your timer and in game timer were different is because you stopped you timer when the credits started but you didnt skip them strait away so in game time still counts up in the credits
I remember playing getting over it on and off and never beating it. Then I beat it once, and then by the times I replayed the game, my skill gets exponantially better.
The hardest part for me is the snow mountain, and the tower. Orange hell was something I unexpectedly never failed after the first 2 runs.
Wild that speedrunning still uses the terms set orignally on the NLSS. Where Northernlion and Rockleesmile just played the game casually.

This game is more rewarding than frustrating IMO. my first run was around 9 and a half hours (5 of which were on orange), and my second was 35ish minutes. this improvement really satisfied me, and now my pb is 5:02

After going for the golden cauldron this quarantine, I was able to shorten my time from around 2 year long runs to 5-6 minute long runs lmao. It’s definitely possible, but REALLY challenging for sure :D
I didn't realize the Scratch one by Griffpatch is the same map, the ice mountain bugged me (even though in the Scratch version you can see the notches-) until I got bored and changed the code so I can fly xD

I used to play getting over it during class in college, first run was 2h04, second 31mins, thirs 14 mins and now i'm at about 5-6 minutes average but i can't get any faster. The game feels very rewarding i recommend everyone to play it
Getting over it was the only game I ever did speedruns on. I totally agree that it is one of the most rewarding games to speedrun. I managed a sub ten after grinding it for almost a week. It's been a few years but I believe I got 9:58.

Getting over it was weird for me. First time took me a couple hours. Then 30 minutes. Then 10 minutes. Now I get sub 10 and normally around 5 minutes every time.

Orange hell, just windmill off of the platform, takes like a second more to do, but it is super consistent.
I at one time decided to spreedrun learnubg yo speedrun and the first time, I completed it in 1 day not even joking anymore.

my pb is 3:33. the game manages to get more infuriating because after completing a obstacle hundreds of times you think you shouldn't have trouble but then you fail at orange hell 4 times in a row after over 200 wins
