Speezy did the nyoom Pog So often I get asked for tips; After learning the basic movements, tricks and slide skip generally I just tell people it's all practice.. When people are in the 3-10 minute area my suggestion is not to try and go fast! it causes more mistakes then it's worth. If you can complete the map at a mediocre speed with no mistakes you should be sub 4 minutes, the speed will come naturally the more you play :) The skill ceiling is so incredibly high you can improve forever xD GGs!
I honestly think this game does progression really well, each time you complete it and get better at it the more the cauldron becomes gold. I love that detail.
This is so great! I remember first coming across your channel about a year ago when you did your other video about Getting Over It, so it's awesome to see you doing this game again :D I love that you can make a video entertaining about a game that I've never even played, great stuff!
I have never seen someone document their progress and mental strategy like this in Getting Over It, it is very entertaining to see the logical approach that some newer speedrunners might take. You were right on watching people of the skill level you were aiming for, it is a tip I often give to people so they can watch and learn. Furthermore doing full runs without resetting actually is a good tactic to get a nice balanced skill at all sections in the game, so you did some pretty efficient stuff with your gameplan. Fun video, hope your channel continues growing in the future :)
this video is one of the many reminders I have about the correct rules for a growth mindset. I had it figured out 5 years ago and forgot them with all the stress I got
I remember watching this a while ago and thinking this is time is absolutely impossible for me. Now I have a pb of 2 minutes 44 seconds. Funny how that works. Thanks for inspiring me internet person. This game has become one of my favorite games of all time.
I relate so hard to plateauing around 5-7 minutes, took me literally 30ish runs (not including resets) to get sub 5, and each minute after that is even harder, improving one or two seconds at a time with many runs in between. I’m currently barely sub 3 but always improving. Keep grinding!
I get frustrated just WATCHING people play this game. You beat it 100 times with most of those being under 10 minutes, and often closer to 5. That is seriously incredible, and takes a huge amount of grit. Great job!
This is why I love Eazyspeezy so much, because you make these videos so fun to watch but your so determined and you put in a lot of effort and determination and pull off impressive runs in the process
I love this style of video as compared to speedrunning a game for 1 week. I know it's basically the same concept but being able to see how you improve through the amounts of runs you did is a lot more insightful in my opinion.
idk one week feels more natural to me. 100 runs are not the same amount of practice in a game where the average run is 4 minutes long than in other thats 2 hours, while a week is roughly the same amount of practice on both even if the number of runs vary. plus, if you speedrun a game yourself you probably wont keep track of the number of runs, but rather feel a sense of progression as time passes. though it is nice to have him talk about each specific run, i still like both formats
"Imaginary mountains build themselves from our efforts to climb them, and it’s our repeated attempts to reach the summit that turns those mountains into something real." - Bennett Foddy For me this line always felt tailor made for speedrunning. The collective effort and attempts we spend trying to be faster makes a new PB or even WR into something more than just a number
@Obamium and also its just subtly mocking the player. its kind of both, just like the entire game. its just life lessons being taught through a very cruel joke of a game
Wanted a challenge and just bought this game today. That slide-skip setup really helped at 5:40. I would always mess up the slide part and fall way down to the beginning because of the inconsistency of a full swing, but that setup isn’t even that hard to learn and it helps a lot.
Hey, there are many people who have not even beaten the game yet, so I would say your speedruns show how skilled you are at the game. The skills you learned for your runs and the constant trials made you get a pretty nice time. Good job.
Ceres Fauna from Hololive is currently gaining quickly. After a couple streams and a fair number of resets, she's already down into the 6:30 range with around 15 completed runs. Pretty cool to see these improvements.
Yes! This is one of my favorite video of yours. With all do respect, I felt like most of your "speed run" videos weren't really speedruns. This style of video seems much more true to the intent of the channel. It's cool seeing how well you can do without absurd unrealistic grinding.
this just reminded me of trying to do all the speed challenges on Split/Second. slowly losing my sanity trying beat their insane time requirements that demand near perfection, to the point of missing the mark by fractions of a second.
As someone who is pretending to be a speedrunner(pb of 3:49 but with fast start so realistically 3:55) I'd say I'm very impressed by you. It took me over 100 runs to get a sub 5(4:36) but it took me another 100(and a lot of practice with anjo2's modpack as well as blastbolt's sub 2' guide video) to get another sub 5 a few months later. I got my sub 4 pb after around 250 wins. So don't feel bad at all. You actually did amazing dude!
I love this style of video! Very educational about the speed run aspects of the game and really let’s us see your personal growth, which is really what speedrunning is all about! I’d love to see more 100 speed run videos of other games

For people wondering how to do slide skip: Position the pointy part of your hammer touching the satellite pole while standing on the roof. Maintain this position while letting yourself slowly descend below the roof, then align your shoulder with the corner of said roof. Maintain this vertical position while lowering even further, then quickly flick your mouse down.
"slide skip" (not what I called it but I noticed it in speedruns) is honestly so good, the way I mastered it is lining up the tip of the hammer directly on the satellite dish, then would just hit a full swing. Edit: just realized you figured that out later in the video, nice
Finally one of my favorite speedrunners speedrunning a game which i myself speedrun my pb in getting over it currently is 2:31 and had sub 2:20 pace a lot of times but space suck we all know it ruins runs
200+ runs, 4:21 PB. This game has a surprisingly high skill ceiling for speedrunning since your movement is physics-based, so don't feel bad whatsoever about "only" getting a sub-5. As for the bucket, swing slowly to the right before swinging back to the left. You'll almost always launch yourself onto the left platform. Slower than the skip, but a bazillion times more reliable
Another way to do the hat jump is going onto the rock below the one you jumped off of and pogo-ing up at a slightly more tilted angle. Its easier to do but takes a bit more lining up to do.
Word of advice if you ever feel super discouraged and dont feel like finishing take a small break and look at your older runs, see where you improved and where you failed. Focus only on your faults will lead to disaster mastering your greats will come in handy.
