I picked one up today and went straight into the range. Shot ball and hollow point in 50, 90, 94, and 100 grain. Ate everything I fed it. About 250 rounds straight out of the box. More comfortable to shoot than the LCP Max. Great video!
The fact I've yet to hear a single negative thing about this pistol from big reviewers to small has convinced me to get this. I've been in the market for a 380 pistol as well as something for conceal carry that fits my smaller hands and smaller frame and it seems like this a perfect fit.
I've seen one review where the person said they had a problem with the Bodyguard 2.0. It was about a week ago, so I can't remember who it was or exactly what the problem was, but if I remember correctly, the problem he thought might fix itself over time.. Basically he thought it was a breakin issue. Personally, I don't think it was a breakin issue because like you, I hadn't seen anyone else say they had a single problem with it. Once this gun gets on the MD handgun roster, I'm getting one. I've got a Ruger Security 380 and hate it! It has trouble loading and it stove pipes too! I've only got around 50 rounds through it, but I haven't heard of anyone else having this problem. Because of this, I never shoot it! I need to get a few hundred rounds through it to see if the problem persists or not. BTW, the Ruger Security is the only Ruger handgun I own, but when I compare it to my S&W, there's no comparison. The S&Ws are just built better.
I was surprised because I was far more accurate with the LCP max than with the new Smith. And I was also more accurate with the P365 380. That said, the new bodyguard feels much more solidly built than the Ruger or the Sig.
@crabjoe anything mass produced, you're going to have a lemon or two, that being said, the bodyguard from what I've heard seems to be reliable even with non typical ammo.
Excellent video. A top review of this new firearm. No annoying background music, no I.Q. dropping profanity. No blah blah Bravo Sierra. I appreciate seeing real shooting. Your draw-fire time is insanely fast! Does it get any better than 13 rounds at 15.7 ounces for a pocket carry?
Just bought one! Cant wait to get it! One thing to note is that pocket carry is a better for those that have issues with waist carry. Being over weight, even slightly can make it very uncomfortable and some cases impossible to carry all day. This causes many to pick and choose when to carry. With a pocket pistol this not a problem but you do have to train well because it could be a slower draw.
I switched to pocket carry from IWB due to my advanced age. It’s easier on my cranky back and arthritis in my joints. Currently have the LCP Max but will be getting the bodyguard 2.0 soon
agreed, im a fat guy, i switched to pocket carry only several years ago, its the ONLY thing that is comfortable to me, i think i have tried every type of holster made over the past 35 years or so.
Another good way to carry a pocket pistol is to get a big enough cell phone holster. The gun will fit in fine, horizontally with the grip up and the flap covering it. With your shirt draped over it no one will suspect you are packing. It is quite comfortable either standing or sitting.
To each their own, this is what makes things so great about this country. Great video bro appreciate the review and a thumbs up. Regarding your EDC I looked up the weight of a fully loaded G45 which comes in at 30.34oz. Add in light, compensator, red dot and holster and we are looking at what? 40oz more or less in AIWB. No way me personally I'm carrying that much weight on me. When you start adding in the weight of other stuff lots of us carry (knife, keys, phone, wallet etc) it's just too much for myself. S&W fully loaded with 12+1 mag and a holster will be about 15 oz of insane firepower.
not a fan of the 380 but bought this for my wife. Fell in love with it. now I own one and she has another on the way :) Once this gun is broken in (about 150 rounds) it's just fantastic

ever since I have carried a shield 9, I decided to go to the shield plus....but after shooting a bodyguard 2.0 ...no crazy snap like the original that made it explode in your hand and impossible to really get real shots off like the new one that has nothing with recoil....sooooo I carry the shield but....im carrying the bodyguard with the extended clip and this gun is epic....even for 380 it still is hitting past 50 yards which I don't care about...I like not having cross fire like a 9 but both are great....great carry
I picked up a Bodyguard 2.0 Tuesday.👍 The way I see it, It is a pocket pistol for a crowded environment where you only got room to pull it out of your pocket and shove it in someones chest to get them off of you, hence the extended steel guide rod. For me, it is going to be my, "slip into my sweat pants pocket when I let the dog out in the yard in case a skunk shows up pistol", much more likely to find me in that situation than a crowded environment.😁 I have been wanting a pocket pistol for a while, been fondling the Ruger LCP Max for over a year, I never took a liking to it... Held this sucker once, and I brought it home.👍 I had only one last round slide lock back in the 5 mags I shot, not sure if it was me or a break in issue, but I am not concerned, she is very tightly sprung and thankfully the Uplula works on .380.👍 Good review and good information on the option, thanks.
This is ...such a horrible take. With the sights and trigger on this gun you can easily hit 10-12 yard shots consistently if you actually practice. Also shoving your gun into someone's chest is just a horrible idea. Unless you have a revolver it can induce a malfunction and regardless of what gun if you put it that closer to an attacker they will try to snag it.
That's a good honest take. I think we all go through this phase of trying to find the smallest most concealable piece. Then you go to the range with it and realize it wasn't a good compromise. There's a time and a place for pocket carry, but it's the exception. Now a days I'm happier with my g26 over anything smaller.

I'm guessing nobody is watching you that closely. People don't see guns everywhere, they don't even think about it, not even when they should. Everyone else is in their own heads, thinking about their own issues, not yours! Get some suspenders with your belt and and wear a covering shirt- perfect base for a gun + holster, much more comfortable and concealed, no sagging pants. Even with a pocket gun like this, it's faster and safer with a proper carry rig.
@cascadianone I agree with you. I have tried suspenders. They aren't for me. I'm not real worried about people watching as much as I just don't like readjusting constantly. Sometimes, someone just has an odd body shape and unless you experience it, it is hard to understand.

I have a glock 42 and it shoots like butter. The only issue I have with it is when running defensive ammo, when I fully load the magazine the first round stove pipes and doesn't go into the chamber. If I take one round out the magazine I don't have that issue. I can run FMJ without an issue. G42 is only 6 rounds. I just purchased the new BG 2.0 & I can't wait to run it. This firearm felt perfect in my hands and offered more capacity and at the $380 price point I felt like I wasn't losing.
@n8sguntalk the only thing you gain from this is a bigger grip. Barrel length is pathetic at 1.75 inch. It's worse than a snub nose. Hey here's an idea, let's make a firearm that will give the 380 the worst ballistics
Do you happen to have a M&P Shield 380 EZ or experience with it to compare the felt recoil? The original bodyguard looked horrible, and once I learned the micros were snappy, I went with the bigger EZ and may aging hands have been happy, though it's a bit large to conceal. Also, was on the verge of getting a Glock G25 for my wife to try (potential nightstand gun) since the recoil on it is supposed to be butter smooth. Everyone raves about low recoil due to phenomenal bore axis alignment and the beaver tail helping hand placement on this BG 2.0, but maybe that's only low recoil compared to snappy G42, Sig 365-380, Ruger LCPs, etc. Once my local ranges have these, probably just going to have to have a rental session with several 380s versus my EZ to compare how they fit me. If the BG 2.0 is serviceable, being so much easier to conceal, the faithful EZ may just become my wife's nightstand gun.
@@friendofentropy EZ is definitely a better shooter. But it's a lot bigger. G25 is very bulky for what it is. If you want a "larger" 380 I would go with the ez or possibly the p365 380.

Does the Bodyguard 2.0 ding up the ejected brass, or does it eject pretty clean? I reload my .380 practice ammo to save $$. The LCP Max dings up the brass pretty bad - some people say it’s a gouge from the ejector. I am interested in maybe upgrading to the new S&W regardless, but this detail might clinch it in my mind.
Don't load Remington UMC 88 gr JHP into this pistol. Hard lock-up. I watched a video after loading them into my new 2.0 and the reviewer had a terrible time unjamming his Bodyguard 2.0 pistol. I immediately checked mine, and sure enough I could not eject the round from the chamber without hard force. Too bad because I like UMC 88 gr JHP. Great pistol though. I currently have Federal Versatile Hollow Points loaded, and they do fine. So do Sierra Outdoorsman.

This bodyguard with even just the 10 round mag is WAY more gun than a kel tec p32...not even in the same zip code..and not that much bigger tbh for its payload
@@kevinrichardson8859 definitely there’s no question about that! Right now I have the p32 and can’t afford the bodyguard so that’s another factor😂

I love 380 guns- been very happy carrying my security 380 - gonna pick this one up and compare them because I like smith over ruger usually
Nice review. I have not tested one yet, but I hope to soon. I like the S&W M&P series. I like 380 and believe it has a viable place in the gun world. Can’t be everything to everyone all the time. 👍

I need to learn how to make a wedge. The one pistol that I've tried to appendix carry, when I sit it angles in towards my pelvis. Probably not ideal!
My EDC is a Glock 22 or a Beretta 92. I too went down that “rabbit hole” and had a Kahr CM9, G43, GX4, etc. I never liked the Sig P365 and the $60 magazines. It felt like a popsicle stick in my hand.

My pinky was half way off the grip and the guy behind the counter, his pinky was 3/4 off the handgrip.

Bought a bodyguard 2.0 two weeks ago. Have not taken it out of the box yet. More news some other time
I have 8 380's and I already know that the 2.0 is one to get.

This video convinced me that i should be content with my p365 since its barely larger and is in a carry worthy cartridge but i still want the bodyguard😂
Me as well. P365 Manual safety and an LCP original. Perhaps a few revolvers, including a 9mm revolver to spread the wealth

Trying to decide if I should get this or the Glock 42
@@desmorris2193 I had a g42 way back when. Would personally recommend this.
I just purchased the new BG 2.0 & I can't wait to run it. i can't answer the question but I'm getting one of these
Do you happen to have a M&P Shield 380 EZ or experience with it to compare the felt recoil?
I have the M&P Bodyguard 380 with NO external safety and can ring the steel at 50 yards, it is NOT an all day range gun as it hurts the web of the hand after a while but it is accurate
