@SIMPLE SPIN I'm gonna speak for everyone here and remind you that nobody asked for your guess... Point is Morikawa and his caddy have a great relationship, and it's cool to see how much Collin respects his partner.
U know when I play with a caddy I do the same. I feel like mentally that's much better, as a team you feel more confident. Responsibility for your mistakes is also shared so you get less mad
Not sure if he will but he sure has all the right stuffs. Look at Phil, there is one that always elude him, been runner up twice even, i think. Hope the Masters will not be Collins nightmare.
*This is EXACTLY what I want on AIR with these new directional microphones and a whole lot fewer commentator's opinions on what they would try that was a different club selection even from 2000.*
Colin will probably be the most likable dude on the tour because of his mannerism. He is 5’9 160, isn’t much on the power side but his game is precision/finesse which fan can admire whenever he beaten bigger dudes. Kinda like Steph Curry.
He will become world number 1 within 3 years, to say he will contend tigers resume... a bit over the top lets save that talk for if and when he delivers a few more major tournament victories. Collin is my favourite player as well.
So, the problem in contending with Tigers records is Tiger came in uncontested. No one was as fit as he was. Courses were WAY easier relative to his skill. Lots of other factors. Collin comes in when courses are already tiger proofed. The field is way stronger. It will be harder to replicate the ferocity at which tiger won tournaments. But I think this kid could actually have as much game as Tiger did. With a little bit more experience, we might see it. Let's not forget, he has 2 majors in 8 tries. It took Tiger 12 majors to get 2. 1997 Masters was his first major and 99 PGA his 12th as a pro. The problem Collin will have is that Tiger won 6 majors from 2000-2002. Then 2 more in 2005. So 8 majors in 5 years. But I think Collin could have better consistency than Tiger. Tiger retooled his swing 2-3 times and each time he'd basically disappear from majors for a year or two, then storm back. This kid doesn't need to change a damn thing about his game. His swing looks more controlled and less abusing to his body.
Who would dislike this video. Must not be a golf fan. I love the way they work together. Maybe thats why they won the tournament. I'm talking about to open championship.
We're watching a modern day Iron Byron. This kids ball striking is off the charts. I read that in college he did testing and his 6ir dispersion was as tight as the Tour Pros...pitching wedges. 🤯 It's almost inhuman to have this much control over the ball in this game.
Collin is fast becoming my favourite player. Ive been betting on him for the last 5 tournaments on the tour because he is always in the mix and safe to say i made out well at 26/1 on him winning the Open! I wonder...is his caddie tall or is Collin small? 🤔
imagine being able to change your shot by 1-3 yards... felt like every shot they were debating a 1-3 yard window which is just nuts. I can't even hit my clubs within a 50yd window lmao
He's also earned his MBA from one of the top business schools in America, so if this golf gig doesn't work out for him, he's got something to fall back on 😂😂
Well… he’ll def know how to invest his 14+ million just from career earnings, not even counting endorsements, all before the age of 24. So yeah… great to have something to fall back on
Choke down means to move his grip/ hands slightly down the club grip from where it would be normally. At this level, choking down will result in a shot that will go 1-3 yards shorter than normal. It is how these guys talk about hitting shots to an exact yardage. If a normal 8 iron goes 163 yards, a slight choke down with a normal swing might go 161 yards. These guys are good and they know how to hit it to exact yardages!
On wet days, when there is a concern about feet skipping many will wear metal spikes. On drier days, most will go with soft spikes. Only guy I know who wears metal spikes all the time is Bryson Dechambeau, with his club head speed and swing torque his feet could slip on most shots. New rule changes now allow tapping down spike marks on the green.
Men !!! Me and My caddies have this kind of conversation all the time. How come i always ended up in the woods, bunkers or water Hazards ??? By 10 or 11th hole he just shut up and hand me a club. He always have an excuse for not carrying my bag when we have a club tournament. I need to change caddy. Yup, thats what i ll do. I will be my club new Callaway champ, for sure.
Yesterday I hit a 9 iron 162, another 9 iron 114 and a 7 iron 142, 174 and 194 in three different shots. The yardages, shape and feel are often more important than the exact club when scoring and shotmaking is the concern. This takes really great chemistry and conversation, like these two have.
The way he talked and listened to the caddie tells us a lot about his character. Great guy

That is what you want from a caddy, positivity. Keeping Colin mentally in the round.
