- The Mercedes Benz AMG GT is notorious for its high depreciation. This, however, is only partly true in today’s market. Current depreciation rate are in line with the Porsche 911 Carrera. Yet, it only applies to reasonably used cars.

AMG GT prices are falling. After all, it is 2023 and most cars started to depreciate again. Depreciation rates are, however, not extremely high. All models lost approximately 12.5% compared to their market top. This is in line with the Porsche 911 Carrera. Yet, it only applies to reasonably used cars. Low mileage cars have a significantly higher depreciation rate than the 911. Up until approximately 25,000 miles, the AMG GTs loose a lot more. If you keep a new car up to 40,000 miles, the difference could amount to $10-$15k. In practical term this means that it pays off to buy an AMG GT with a slightly higher mileage. Especially if you plan to drive it a lot.

Which car would you like to see analysed next?
Hey, love your videos. Would be interested to know what the trend would be for Classic Defender prices (old Defender). Not just in the US but in Europe as well as the Defender market in the US is a lot different.
C63 please
I check out your videos all the time. I bought a Porsche a few years ago after watching your videos and I ended up owning practically for free! I would be really interested if you can do a Shelby GT500 depreciation analysis. The latest model was done from 2020 through 2022. Prices were crazy last year, but they seem to be coming down.
Nissan GT-R please
SLS!
If I have to guess, the high mileage sensitivity of the AMG shows the lack of consumer confidence in its reliability vs the porsches. I shopped the GTC a month or two ago, I found that because of such high depreciation, most of the used cars have really bad cosmetic condition, even for low mileage ones, as the owners dont treat them like 160-180k cars, but treat them more like 120k S-class that will depreciate to 30k junk.I had numerous porsches before and wanted to give the AMG a try, i think it's a great mix of luxury and performance, unlike the porsche is more on the sporty side over luxury. However, despite the fact that these cars continue to depreciate from winter into spring, the dealers are very stubborn on pricing and there's no good deal to be found, so I still ended up with another porsche and moved on
Thanks for sharing your experience. Interesting observations.
This is very true. Im also in the market for GTR but the dealers are being stubborn but the market is forcing prices down. I will wait till the winter
Hi What is your experience of the reliability? I am thinking of moving from Porsche 997 Carrera S to AMG GTS
I can’t believe you just posted this video! Exactly what I needed now! Congrats for your great work!!
Great info. Thanks for sharing!
I’d like to see analysis for the GT 63S 4-door please. Thank you for all your very thorough and comprehensive analysis videos.
Great business intelligence. Thanks for sharing
Appreciate your analysis. Would be great for an update
Very helpful
Thank you
With German cars it's not so much a question of can you afford the car as it is can you afford the maintenance and repairs.
I believe once the new gen AMG GT55 & 63 are out and about, and te car enthusiast realize that the uniqueness of the front mid-engine, low-slung, beautiful body, and the way the rear diff comes into play, are engineering marvels, the prices will begin to rise.
Brilliant
Another great statistic video. However the biggest variable here are the pricing options. The AMG has significantly less options available; whereas porsche's are notorious for extra options and the prices they incur. I'd say the majority of porsche's have at least 15% of tacted on options relative to base msrp. Unless you're dealing with a porsche of the GT variety (and taking markups out of the picture); responsible Used car shopping will forever remain king.
Id like to aee the GT53 analysis please
I own both an amg & a Porsche 911 outright love them both due to work commitments I don’t really drive them that much as most of my driving is done daily commutes to my business place and back in a works van . My point here is I wanted a 911 I got it but my amg is a rare x218 shooting brake , what I’m emphasising here is to avoid as much depreciation as possible with the models I own currently as I don’t buy generic cars but desirable ones😊
That 3D graph was kind of wild, at first I thought it wouldn't really be helpful but now if you also pair that with virtual reality, 3D graphs are very useful. If I was using VR, I would use 3 variables way more often. Interesting...
VR statistics 😎
Any update to amg gt? I see prices tanking!
Does this analogy apply to black series amg GT?
E63 S wagon .... please 😁
Don’t waste your time analyzing the AMG GT 4 door, the thing is discontinued and no one really wants them.
update pls
Why is the base AMG GT more money than the AMG GTS?
Because gts came out like a whole year before the normal gt
Can you do c63s?
Unless you have a 2013 model coupe or black series which was the last naturally aspirated engine ...forget it its all down hill.
981 Base and S in Europe please
Hi Fourwheel Trader, me and my dad are looking into buying a 992 GT3 (second hand with 3000km) and let it sit in the garage most of the time... so more as an investment and only drive it lets say a 1000km per year.
Will the car keep more or less its value? I know it will not double in price but if lets say it depreceates 10% then we are satifised with that or do you think it will be more 20 or 30%..? Thanks! love your content!
even second hand GT3's are selling at high numbers due to the initial markups and obvious market demands. For the most part if you're looking to gain a profit in the long run and it has to be a car (especially a porsche) I'd recommend a GT4. Especially the 981 generation.
PLEASE DO 4 DOORS
Time for an update? I’m in the market for a 991 GT3 or AMG GTR and the latter is definitely getting softer.
I included them in this video: ua-cam.com/video/kP4NDFUm0DE/v-deo.htmlsi=mtf5Iqwx0A1QhdsX
@@fourwheeltrader thank you! I probably already watched it and forgot but will double check.
Lewis Hamilton should leave his f1 car silver and fight for amg depreciation instead.
AMG depreciation matters.
4 Door
4 door GT’s would be good too. TY for this vid!
I hear it's because they fall apart.
It will definitely continue to drop in price. This is no 911.
It’s just a mix of SL63 and C63.
It will depreciate in price to just slightly higher than those 2 AMG models.
My bold take is that they depreciate faster because they don’t have Apple CarPlay 😂
@@knick11695 2020 models and on have CarPlay lol
This car is junk in value and junk in reliability junk to drive and junk to own
Which year of this car do you own ?
A dream car for me and i will pay anything for it no expenses spared just to make my dream come true i’ve found one gts for 75k with 10k miles fully loaded im about to get it
@@josephvucinic what year ?
how much would a 1 owner gt-c 2019 with 13k miles go for?
