Great video! I bought one of these last year. Was looking at a Porsche 911 as well but for the same age (2017) I believe you get so much more car for your money and the sound is simply amazing.
8:41 Very good points. Funny that i thought about this last night. A C63 on first sight looks like a C-class which is available for a fraction of what you pay for a new AMG GT. (And you see the c-class everywhere here in Germany) But still a used AMG GT is not that much more expensive than a used C63...so yeah if you want an exclusive car this is a no brainer. Also i totally agree that the new GT version looks like a fat 911. The old proportions with the stupid long looking hood where the best part about this AMG GT.
Former 911 owner here - nothing wrong with the Porsche at all - too good if anything - but it does not stir your soul or passers by like the GTS can - and that's before you get to the sound - its annoying, it's deafening it's unnecessary and truly, truly, totally brilliant - when did you last see one? Servicing costs are about on par with Porsche too
@@Kelvin_Ess The Targa - mine was 2015, is astonishing, if you find the edge you are going too fast. I never tried that hard - its a lot easier to park than the GT as well!!! Go for it you will not be sorry
@nelsonclub7722 good to know, thx!! I feel the Targa is one of the best looking Porsche, looks so classic. Ill enjoy the GTS another year, and then I'll search for Targa between 2015 - 2020. Unless a really good deal pops up sooner. Temptations 🙈
Thanks for the review! Excellent. I would have the Merc Gt amg over a 911 as a road car. It has bags of personality and that excellent engine and soundtrack. It looks fantastic. The Porche is clinical and boring. If it is the fastest laptime I am after I would buy a Radical for the fraction of the price of a Gt3 Rs and get a better time.
Great review. I agree with many of your points and its main rival being a 991. Also to consider in this price range in my opinion - a pair of dark horses - but the Lotus Emira and facelifted Jaguar F-Type
I had a F-type before my GTS..... To be honest, super fun car, but very small (I am 6'2) and interior felt cheap, and to be honest was kind of annoyed I had to adjust body panels in my own garage because of Jaguars poor craftmanship. HOWEVER.... the supercharged engine with the AWD is a ton of fun, but maxed it out on power around 675 horse with new pulleys. My GTS is now making 997hp on a mustang dyno with stock internals.
I was considering an AMG GT, but would have had to get a used one. My top dollar was $100k. I was concerned about the maintenance costs, eating away at my savings; Same goes for possibly a newer C63 or E63 V8s only. My E55 costs me an average of $3k a year. The reason I commented though is because I did get a Lotus Emira. So different, but checks all the right boxes.
I own two Mercedes and I love Benz but Benz is screwing everything up, so I decided not to buy anything past 2016. At least not beyond first gen AMG GTS.

I was going to get a skateboard but I had to buy shoes first
Me too! Love it

I need to get some F types on camera as well, considering they are now discontinued

hahah i came here to say AMG GTS? Buy a Porsche. Looks like the comment section is way ahead of me
What year was the amg you were driving in this video?
16' from Memory
Too many people have Porches. No thanks.

You are not alone, in the New car C class segment I think they are losing a lot of sales to BMW currently
Dude relentlessly comparing this car to a c-class is hysterical. Different planets buddy.
‘Relentlessly’ 😂 maybe a couple times, they’re both pretty boaty as it is, mentioned a similar year 911 more often.
My C63 is supercharged, and I also own a gts with pure turbos. The C63 is faster and might even beat the gts on the track. It’s a 2012 btw
What?
@@c63tay70 Nah. I have seen how fast it is and You aint beatin that shit.
@@truth6242 I said what I said, do you own both ?
