Professor Rinehart, please keep shinning those important lights on us - poor writers hidden in dimly-lit corner struggling and withering upon approaching deadlines.

Here's an example that supports what you mention.
    It's from The Great Gatsby.
"At any rate, Miss Baker's lips fluttered, she nodded at me almost imperceptibly, and then quickly tipped her head back again"
Makes a good case for using commas to separate showing clauses or phrases fitting the A,B, and C format.

We need to write , proof-read, n identify the use of the comma. I know some but maybe not all parts of speech yet .

Do we need to define which Carol as restrictive? Or non-restrictive ? We could do both. Either or. I do follow your aspects..

I've read that if the phrase is small enough and it starts the sentence the comma is not needed. Example: While walking Ann came across a bear. Is this correct?

Ahh ... the joy of the English language. Either is acceptable; it's really a preference (and I prefer using the comma!).
