That first solo was 100% improv'd when it was recorded so even I couldn't recreate it 100% like on the record nor would I want to. And here you are, fucking nailing it like a true boss. Considering all the problems you had while making this video, I think you did an outstanding job for all the parts.
Haha, now that you mention it, that first solo was hard to transcribe. Harder than the one with the fast alternate picking run. No fingering I tried while transcribing made too much sense, even if it's "just" a pentatonic shape. At least that's what I heard. And those tapped slides also didn't make that much sense logically too. But again, it has the feeling of an improvised solo, and in that context that playing totally makes sense. Transcribing those solos was the reason I didn't record this sooner. Had the tab for a while now :D (btw I'm a big fan of improvised these solos these days. They are just so in the moment and more alive) But man, you got some fast fingers (and some fast alternate picking). I had some trouble connecting that harmonic minor alternate triplet run with the following arpeggio and the big 16th note descending run in the 2nd solo. Alone those three were quite playable but together it was quite a mess for me. And another thing which is a huge compliment and something I really appreciate these days: guitar players that have their own tone and sound. There are not a lot of guitar player were I think "hm there's no way I can replicate the sound/playing of that" but you're one of them. I couldn't replicate your tone to save my life (is that saying correct?) I'm pretty sure I can spot a random solo from you without knowing it's from you because you have such a distinct 80's shred sound and phrasing, without just being a copy of that era. So yeah, while I can play it on a technical level, I couldn't quite get the same tone.
WE NEED TABS this could keep someone interested for weeks to get it right . its absolutely a godsend to have stuff like this to recreate.. the ideas are marvelous.. Please Artisan Era Tabs....
Love binging your videos when I'm the mood for it man, they're the best metal guitarist videos on youtube imo, especially with the write-up you post in the description on the song's various facets ( production, guitar techniques, your opinion on the music etc) I know I've probably said this elsewhere in the comments, but I'd love to hear some original metal from you someday! I don't think there's many players out there who are as technically advanced AND as musically omnivorous when it comes to metal genres!
Holy, that was sick man! Nailed the solos too... Hell of a motivation for me to finish my cover. Haven‘t touched this song or barely even my guitar for almost a year now... You really got me hyped man, thanks!!! ... Won‘t be able to do any solos though xP
Hi Kevin, I used to, and still do, record my covers like this, save for a couple of songs. To me it seemed more work to record into the computer and then mimic it and, to me personally, it also feels fake doing it like this. Maybe in the future I'll change my mind on this... I did it on a couple of songs though; I got myself a focusrite audio interface and recorded into the computer. Never could get the sounds right, there was a lot of tweaking involved and felt the process of getting everything together in an editing program a long and drawn out affair. Maybe if I'll get the sounds right and the processes involved streamlined I'll be more enthusiastic... My mission statement is that I just wanted to do things as simple as possible; learn a song proper, then sit down and record the song I've been practicing in one go. What you see and what you hear is what you get, and you'll get a shot of adrenaline too :-D Sure, some songs require lots of takes, but it's a trial by fire from which you only can get better as a guitar player. For my last video I ended up doing two takes for the two different angles, and I think it turned out okay. The audio recorded differs a little bit from each other but "mixed" together and with the real track underneath it, I think it sounds at a minimum, passable :-D Disavowed - The Eternal Validity: ua-cam.com/video/TwuiDnUFFKk/v-deo.html
I've watched this at least 3 times a day since it came out. never heard of equipoise before then either. that's the great thing about your videos get to see amazing guitar plus discover new bands I enjoy. thanks a lot my only request is more original solos if possible
I'm glad you discovered new bands because of my videos :) Yes, there's one original solo coming that I already wrote a month ago but didn't get around recording. My schedule is 2 more full playthrough videos and then this solo, so later this month hopefully ;-)
This is pretty close to what I do, except that my audio is always from 2 of the video takes(cos i double track rhythms) and the other shots are fakes. The way u do it is pretty legit, no complaints at all. Looks cooler too + it's easier for you so it's a win-win for sure. I am soooo looking forward to that der weg einer freiheit cover.
This video is excellent and I think if you prefer this recording and editing style, I'd say go for it. Aside from that, I had a quick quick question about this particular guitar. There are a few spots that you manipulated the bridge to dive a note and I'm curious about why you didn't just have the tremolo bar on to start. Do you feel like it gets in the way or something? Anyway, killer production again, man. Thanks!
Amazing, as usual. I really think you should try shooting at 60fps to do justice to your playing. Strict one-takes seem unnecessary to me. Lord knows what I'd do if playing became a chore...
I actually really like the way 25fps look with this shutter speed setting. I think you can see everything fine. The Spawn of Possession video had too much blur. Problem about 50fps is that I can only shoot them in 1080p. (Camera doesn't support 4k 50fps) Right now I record in 4k 25fps, so I can zoom in, have some movement and can still render it at 1080p without loss in visual quality. With 50fps I can't do that and the video would be pretty static :(
@@KevinHeiderich It sounds amazing!!! Your talent can make any guitar sound incredible. Any other solo from Radiance (The burning sun) in the pipeline?
100 points to you :) This song has always been the one I wanted to record. I think it represents the whole album on a technical level pretty good. I'm currently sitting here and learn it :)

This is the only authentic way to do multicam covers where the audio and visuals are the same take. Killed it.
Fucking brilliant! You’re a real inspiration man, I love watching you tear through tunes like this. Equipoise are awesome, great work!
