Glad you like them Gear Runner! Just got back from FLA today, so I'm just now seeing this. Still loving mine a year and a half later! Love the fact that they light my entire step bar up, especially if I have passengers.

@@gearrunner Awesome to hear! Had a good trip except the day we arrived...it was 42 degrees that morning, but quickly rose to 80 in the afternoon. Have a safe trip!

Gear Great video as always. Like the look, good job mentioning the temperature aspect when doing these always want between the 68 - 78 degree range when double sided tape is involved.

Same happened with the factory tabs on both sides of mine, snapped instantly. I can’t remember the brand I purchased for replacements, but they are awesome and look identical to the factory puddle lights.
Been using Vled products for years, top shelf quality.
I put these in because of this video. It was like a 5 minute mod and they're pretty awesome.
Great idea! Just had to walk out in the rain to see if my 06 Silverado had puddle lights. Sadly no.

Those are the same switches my 07 has. Cmon toyota, give us a true 3/4 fresh tundra. With the v8 diesel.
Sooo there is the other big gripe other Tundra friends and I have.... the non-illuminating panel where the mirror and window controls are.... any mods for that?

Same. Just walked out to check mine because I had to make sure. I see the shape for cutouts but it's just solid plastic under there. Guess if I want them, I'll need to bore the hole out.
Does anyone know if the lower trim models, like the SR5, have been pre-wired for these puddle lights? Mine doesn't have a light, but I could install my own if the wires were there.
How did the adhesive hold up on puddle lights?
That is a awesome mod now Rob is going to still that mod for you and put it on his truck

I recommend putting electrode grease in the vehicle side connector as it is exposed to water....it will help it from Corroding

Hey Gear! What made you pick the Platinum over the TRD Pro or the Limited? I watched how the F150 almost caused a major, major accident and that was a game changer for me. My next and last truck will be a Tundra.
Dazz Jackson It really came down to right place at the right time. I found a demo with like 14k miles on it. Not already had the lift and exact wheels and tires in it that I wanted. I couldn’t pass it up.

I believe these are only available on the platnium model. Don't think my limited has these lights but I will edit if they do.

Yes only on platnium model. My 17 limited doesn't have it.

If you wanna fix it and it ain't broke. Why not take it apart to see how it works? ... you know, for research. Oh no! I broke it. Time to upgrade!
If you need more justification. The plastic was old and brittle. It was waiting to fail. Notice how no one is complaining about Toyota quality in the comments when that puddle light broke when he tried to take the factory pod out of the mirror. Unforgivable with any other brand.
I need to check to see if I have these. If I do they are so low I cant tell i have them
EDGE everyday I believe you should have these on your truck. Our trim level should be the same.

Will the rain effect the tape that is on it?
Miguel Gonzalez I hope not. It looked to be the good 3M double sided tape so there shouldn’t be any issues.
Gear, what you didn't share is whether you went with the natural white, or pure white! We can't be copy cats if you don't share every detail lol.

How have those held up after a few years?
It’s been around 3 years or so now and they still work great. One did drop out but it was because the double sided tape came loose the light still worked. I actually glued it back in with no problems since.
If my mirror has a light under it, I've never noticed it.

Hey good video, except, you said this is how you install puddle lights? That's not true because not all Tundras come with oems puddle lights. All others will have to run wiring.
So you should say, "upgrade" existing. Not install.

The pods that I installed are exactly as the OEM just L.E.Ds , no tape at all

Just bought some on amazon for 17$ that clip in.
Koob Gaming Good call. Pass on the double sided tape. The mirror gets full of water every wash or rain. Be lucky to get a few months out of the tayup.
Somebody needs to show how to switch the gearing in the rear end of these tundras from 430s down to 373’s so they get decent mileage

Plastic gets brittle with time.
VLEDS are alright but not the best, drivebright.com/shop/led-puddle-light-pack-bright-trax-v4-extreme-toyota-mazda/ These from DriveBright are plug n play and attached exactly like OEM ones do clicking in and not with some stocky tape like VLEDS do.
