i pretty cool thing i found out messing in arcade as swann is you can build 8 tank, seige them, put them into a hercules and when the tanks are dropped out they are still sieged so you can have instant siege tanks pretty much anywhere especially since his hercules can use the jump to go places even if you dont have vision,i can only image how good a full army of these would be except against air
@@ToxicSpilll ye sure if you want. unrelated sidenote have you tried using just megsks earthsakers cuz with a large number of them in central places you can make you feel like the imperial guard commander from 40k with all of the over the top artillery.great vids btw
I usually rush for max tech in the main base before i even consider the expansion. I build 2 depots, 2 vespin, factory, engineer bay, second factory, armory, 2 star ports, 2 more depots, second armory. Then i focus on supply depots to keep myself from getting supply blocked and prioritize survivability of turrets and units alongside enhancements of the drill. Once those are done i focus on pumping out some basic units, either hellbats/goliaths and science vessels with the upgrade of no energy needed for health, then i begin making the units better with all the techs of the technoreactor and focus on the expansion for extra resources, meanwhile i also put turrets in the main base and expansion so i can focus on growing my army until it reaches the deathball point. In any mission of defense i make tanks, otherwise i focus on hellbats/goliaths for starter and then thors with science vessels, i prioritize having the drill operational asap so i can rely on the buttons above, and leave the upgrades of damage and armor for last in my order queue. Swann's units are costly so ensuring their survival is key, the more survivability they have the easier it becomes, once you reach the point of thor mass production don't bother anymore with other units unless you need siegetanks for defense or science vessels to keep them alive.
First of all, I play him by using shortcuts. I also don't queue 4 researches. I also don't wait 1 minute at the beginning to build the first worker. I usually don't use towers, and base my unit comp on the enemy comp. If I go low tier units first, I may swap to thors later on. Usually I add research vessels for repair relatively early on, building them when I have excess gas. Losing your army is very bad, so keeping them alive is quite important. Once you get through to have a large army and can kill whatever the enemy throws at you, and you've basically won. Just rebuild thors and keep science vessel count at ~10 when around 200 supply. WIth tech-reactor you need 1 factory at the beginning, 2-3 after your expansion. The prestiges may offer some additional play styles, or rather improvements to them, and even though I have all, I prefer to go P0. P1 may be a valid alternative if you manually control the laser drill when needed. I don't see the value in P2 with the turret improvement, given the massive disadvantage of 50% higher gas cost for units. There simply are maps where turrets do not help. P3 is exotic, but fine. Don't go for too many unit types, as all need ~2 specific upgrades. Thors don't need an upgrade - the ability is micro intensive anyway, and may therefore be useful earlier on. Building thors early on is not too good given their high supply costs. Think this way: Early on you'll continually need more supply, meaning 1 supply is 12.5 minerals. A thor costs 75 minerals of supply depots. Later in the game where you already have the supply depots and a viable army, building thors is good.
Take advantage of pulling 2 extra servitors from minerals to help build things faster. You can be ready to immediately upgrade your laser when it comes online. I usually build 2 supply depot, 1 factory with tech attach, and armory to start.
You should try to make more use of swann's ability to use multiple SCV's for construction. Instead of building 2 refineries with 1 scv each and drone them up immediatly, send 3 scv to build 1 refinery simultaneously, it'll be done twice as fast and will automatically be at full efficiency with the 3 scv's that built it. Just with how quick this is compared to your build, you'll have more than enough gas to build the rest without having to drone up your ally, wich allows you to use that money for troops and expansion instead. Talking about the rest, even on brutal, a single factory with a single starport with add-ons will give you everything you need (or can afford really, as you said everything is expensive with swann). Just need to use the Laser Drill and static defenses effectively. YOu can hold out most early wave with just 2 goliath 1 sience vessel and 2 Flaming betty or hellbats if you dislike using turrets. Keep up the grind!
I'm getting a lot of that recently where people say that my channel should be bigger then it is. Its still hitting me and I don't even know how to properly digest it. Lets try and get up 600k why don't we!
@@ToxicSpilll grid hotkeys are a hotkey preset where the buttons to press are pararel to a grid of your keyboards keys. For example the sc2 console buttons is 5x3 so it will reflect into your first 5x3 keys (1st row Q-T 2nd row A-G 3rd row Z-B). Hard to explain though it is just a simpler way of memorizing hotkeys.
A shame that none of Swann's prestiges are actually good. P1 and P3 can be fun at times but aren't better than base, and P2 is just severly annoying. I generally play different styles for Swann. I tend to rush out an expansion using blaster billies then choose an army comp. Mostly Goliaths usually, though I go for Thors vs. Air Zerg or Explosive Threats. Vs Shadow Tech or Disruptive Artillery, bacically heavy anti-ground anti-armour comps, I play a lot of Wraiths with Science Vessel support. With both upgrades Wraiths are very powerful en masse, though they can be fragile. Don't go Wraiths vs Thors, storm or Scourge bois. I find that the best standard comp is mass Goliath and Science Vessel with Hellbats for a mineral dump and Zergling burning, with a Hercules carrying 8 sieged up Siege Tanks for ranged fire support. Notably science vessels can irradiate your own units, giving them a damage aura vs bio, very useful vs Zerglings and Zealots when you have no splash damage. Also can clear terran infantry comps like Raiding Party, Classic Infantry and Shadow Tech. Fun commander, but sometimes VERY frustrating. Also just a general Terran tip: don't queue up buildings with one SCV. You lose the resources but don't get anything in return. Instead, select all your SCVs on the Mineral line and make only what you need immediately. Swann has a nice mechanic from lv 8 where you can build with multiple SCVs (but you probably knew that ;) ). Pulling 4 SCVs to build depots one at a time is a lot better than one guy building 10 depots one after the other.
I like to run Grease Monkey. It can be a lot of fun on offensive maps having lots of SCVs on the front line and keep recycling turrets you don't need anymore
Damn... I really appericate you for putting this much effort into a comment. After reading it all, I can't disagree with your playstyle as it is strong against almost every single enemy. You are also unfortunately true when it comes to Swann's prestige as they are just crap.
You loss too many goliath at the beginning. Its okay to pull back and stay away from the siege tank firing range. I usually pull out 4~5 scv into the front line just to mass repair my precious goliath. The scv will do auto repair if your unit are damaged.
