I sell both. I friggen love focal tweeters. I love that really clear definition of a cymbal crash. Silk dome doesn’t cut it for me anymore, but that’s just personal opinion. My customers love the smoother lower end and musicality of the morels, but it’s for a specific customer. I must say that between my brands, morels are the ones that can’t be mixed with other brands so much, you either need to enjoy that distinct morel sound or other brands will overpower it with sheer sensitivity- and I hate level matching a speaker down for something that is meant to play louder and brighter. Actually just finished a 73 bronco this month that we built custom enclosures for audiofrog 6x9s and 8” subwoofers in the rear of the cab, but the only piece that would actually fit in the front kicks (client refused to make any modifications to the front doors) was the virtus nano integra 6.5s. Level matching a power hungry 2 ohm 6x9 to a 4 ohm 6.5 morel was a bitch. Fixing everything with dsp took time.
You are missing a basic physics lesson here son, sure lower resistance is louder, louder however has a downside, like motor control, no free lunch exists , especially In car audio. There is much more to audio than how loud it gets. Just saying. Sq is thing, and it is much harder and more expensive to achieve than a spl system. Just saying
@chippsterstephens6800 I agree completely, I think you mistook the purpose of my comment. When selling a car audio system to a customer, I had to take into account multiple factors, which included clarity, timbre, AND spl. Mixing and matching a mostly audiofrog system with a pair of virtus nano carbon integras was terrible in the end, because while I was able to equalize the frequency response, I was unable to balance the sound stage without removing about 30db from some very articulate speakers in order to have the morels fill the front sound stage. They are quite inefficient speakers. Their RMS ratings are not a joke. I would not sell a better quality morel speaker to a customer again if I'm not pairing it to a 150-200w rms/channel multi channel amplifier, whereas I am able to reach the same level of clarity and definition, as well as volume, with an audiofrog or focal speaker on an average 120w/channel multi channel amplifier. And in my honest opinion, morels tweeters are a hair above standard.
I haven't heard them side by side, but going off this video, I prefer the Morel top end and mids (I don't like the top end too harsh), but found the bass loose and bloomy. IF the top end could somehow be tamed on the Focal, I may lean that way (the HU EQ wouldn't be able to it without a parametric EQ).
The Focal sounded better this time, so the HU settings worked...Somehow the Focal edged it out this time, but Morel sounded less fatiguing. We're splitting hairs at this point, I'm just nitpicking.
@Balgaz I picked up the Kenwood dnr1007xr and it sounds fantastic. It has made a DRASTIC change with basic DSP eqing on just my stock speakers. Enough that even my friends noticed the huge improvement. I have a full set of Utopia M's waiting to go in next.

What about it ? Tell us more I was told that Diamond Audio can be a good speaker too vs the morels the Diamond Audio will give you a very close sound to the morels with a cheaper price
Having had both had focal in a previous car and morel in current car at basically the same price range, morel all the way. The focal were way too bright, morel are freaking crystal clear and balanced. Although the difference is the focal was running with crossovers and the morel are running active.
@@ssjdavid The midbass drivers of the nano carbon are extremely shallow. I heard a lot of good things about audiofrog. I'd lean towards those. I replaced my morels with stereo integrity components.
If both systems are tuned properly and there are no install issues then the Focal Utopia M’s should sound better with all things being equal. That being said it’s an unfair competition as it should be Focal Utopia M’s Vs Morel Carbon Elates.
The problem I have with Focal, like many other people also agree, is that while they are clear-sounding, bright and lively, they simply have absolutely no depth of sound. On the other hand, Morels have more depth of sound, but they sound very hollow and airy

Focal makes some of the best home speakers and headphones in the world so it is no surprise that, by bringing their technologg to car speakers, the Focal will shine with a y kind of music you play through them!
As humans one thing we share is the fack we are different. Honestly I think your mood sometimes will determine which one will sound the best. Later in the day I perfer a more laid-back sound. Earlier in the day I like a more forward sound. Taking that into consideration I actually like both.
There are so many variables. Are they running dsp?, same or different units?, are they tuned and time aligned? Really its how its tuned and by who that will make the difference.
Both vehicles are running a DSP. I personally aligned and tuned both vehicles. Both on Audison APF8.9 BIT. All Morel on the Toyota. Focal speakers on the BMW.
Funny, I actually run both in my car!lol Morel hybrid series midbass from 75hz -300hz, focal es100k set for midrange and tweeter. Midrange from 300-3.5k hz, tweeter 3.5k and up all running active. I have set crossovers and time aligned everything ,but have yet to run rta and set eq. But so far sounds amazing!

The Morel has better mids (albeit both systems have too much of a scooped V-curve to the tuning), not so harsh on the top end, but the bass is bloomy and loose. I prefer the tightness of the Focal, but the top end is a bit harsh. Typically I prefer silk dome tweeters. Never heard Morel in real life, but I had Hertz, and with JL side by side with Focal, I prefer the balance of JL.

In this Test, Morel Better Sound, Good Balance…. Although I installed Focal on my Mitsubishi Pajero… Focal Sound like Strong, High and Bright. While Morel is like Soft, Clear and Romantic sound in the Ear. I am planning to transfer my FOCAL in my Pickup truck Mitsubishi Strada and install MOREL in my Mitsubishi Pajero.
