    Still catching up. 1:40 looks like a book clasp. That was quite the rainstorm and just like the one I got caught in at Detectival. I was within 500 yards of getting back, but I sheltered under a hedge instead. Interesting about the hedge dating and a beautiful shilling found there.

      Thanks for the watch and comments Andrew and for confirming the book clasp!

    hi Ellie... credit to ya for braving that rain..i told myself a good few years back that...when rain is forecast, i wait for a better day which isn't usually too far away, & the items that are in the ground aren't going anywhere...just waiting for your next visit, i'm ex military & i spent the first 3 months of each year for 4 years on exercises in Norway...doing stuff in Minus 30 - 40, so when people over here in this country complain about it being cold...phhff, what a lovely place you detect on...stunning countryside with a sea view... all the best to you, GL&HH Gordon.

      I actually don’t mind the rain. I work outside as an artist. That was a bit heavy for a few minutes! But I’m not afraid of weather I’d much rather be out than in. 😊

    Fun video! Very atmospheric weather the first day. Beautiful hedgerows. I especially love the narrow lanes between the two hedges like the one on which you were walking at the end. Thank you for sharing!

    I've tried detecting in rain like that and didn't enjoy it lol. at least you got your kit dried out for the following day and got out in the sun 👍. as for your hot water and lemon, I used to work with someone that drank hot water and that's it 😳. each to their own I guess. #LP 🤜🤛👍

    Your not crazy, just young. I did the same thing in my younger days hunting arrowheads and other artifacts. It's raining here in North Texas near the Red River, and I'm inside with the fireplace going. Then again, I still envy you. 😊 BTW, I agree with the pistol theory regarding the sheet metal that may have been bent. It always amazes me how we find these one off pieces scattered about. I do love a good mystery.

    Wonderful video. Love seeing the beautiful countryside! I had to laugh at your comment about your Georgian coins being " not that old" Just a different perspective! Here in the US/New England finding what we call Colonial era coins are some of my biggest thrills in metal detecting. You have such a fantastic opportunity, to find REALLY old things!

    • @miss_detectorist
      @miss_detectorist  10 місяців тому +1

      I must apologise for that I meant comparatively to the ancient hedgerows many of which are well over a thousand years old! Also the day previous I was thinking Bronze Age so I was kind of in that frame of mind! Believe me a Georgian coin is STILL a welcome find every time 😊😊😊

    So glad I watched this latest vid, Saturday morning I found a large lump of bronze about the same size as yours, (quite deep with a cracking signal), I did tell the Farmer that it was possibly a by product from smelting, you've just saved me a bit of researching. Cheers, keep up the great informative videos.

      @miss_detectorist I've noticed on other detecting channels over the years bronze axe head hoards have been found mainly near old walls and boundaries. It's thought they weren't just hiding them but it had a symbolic meaning. Anyway good luck Ellie 👍
