It's sad that Japan doesn't focus on mental health as much, so seeing it took to a logical extreme like in this version of yandere-chan's backstory is so sad, i just wanted to give the kid a hug and make sure she was ok lol, but i've heard that japan is or is starting to focus alot more on mental health so that's good and hopefully it continues to get better.
Agreed! This is so important, and I want to make the distinction than my re-writing isn't meant to stigmatize psychosis or mental health in general, Ayano's case is the absolute extreme and rare case of what unchecked and untreated psychosis can lead to. It's so important to be able to receive help.
Every time I read Ayano’s backstory I remember Alex’s post saying how he wanted a girl to depend on him and not be able to live without him and etc To me Senpai is such and obvious self insert that it makes me cringe.
Even worse, he calls his self insert "Senpai" in his videos and the game to trick his fans into calling _him_ Senpai... Ew. (Senpai is not a name, it means something like senior, teacher or master. Feeling grossed out yet? 🤮)
she should have a friend showing how her possessive behavior isn't just towards senpai, and maybe they'll accidentally give her an idea for murder, like " Its dangerous to have hair that long! " or " This railing seems loose "
omg my brain said “well they’d have to be pretty naive and/or shy to be her friend despite her being possessive...” and I immediately thought of Oka now I’m suddenly craving a thing where her friend is Oka and the poor girl just accidentally gives murder advices 24/7 because she’s just trying to warn people but since she’s shy, quiet, and introverted (and leader of the the Occult Club) she sounds menacing and makes Yan-Chan think... And then when it’s Oka’s week, we learn that Oka fell in love with Senpai and despite trying to distance herself away from him because she knows Yan-Chan likes him, she has an arc where she suddenly goes “wait... why should I listen to Yan-Chan? I just want my own happiness. I want a chance instead of giving him to her.” And stops being a coward. (And I’m assuming she doesn’t know about Yan-Chan’s murders, obviously, and the poor girl probably wouldn’t link it to her.) This also might tie into another theory I saw in another comment... Where Yan-Chan’s family has actually been cursed by a demon. It could explain why Oka would randomly be friends with Yan-Chan, a girl who’s obviously pretty, popular(sort of), and ‘not on the same level as her’.
Here’s an idea: what if the player isn’t given Yan-chan’s backstory at the beginning of the game, but instead at the end of each day she writes in her diary. At some point in the game, maybe after she confesses to Taro, she would look back at previous entries and we would learn the backstory from her perspective.
Maybe she when she gets flashbacks she gets a playable cutscene of how she felt before the murder, if you keep calm and keep your sanity regular it causes her to want to write a diary entry to overcome her trauma, if you get all entries, you could get a flashback / playable cutscene mini movie with all of it shown one after the other as a mini ingame bonus for playing well and getting the best ending. And if she keeps failing at staying well in the cutscenes, her mental health will drop by 10% causing her to need more medication, aka hurrying you up, if you dont and your mental health drops to 0 she'll have a panic attack, which when someone calls an ambulance they will notice that she escaped the hospital. Even if your mental health is over 0 if its lower then 40% her rep would go down since if you're freakin out people would think badly of you, causing taro to give you a note about why he doesn't think you're a good match.. (This would probably take months or even a year to add into the game, so this is just an idea)
At the beginning Yandere Dev didn't even want to give Ayano a real name, he just called her "Yandere-chan". So he didn't really care about her very much and made her to an emotionless killer machine ... Also your Ayano looks so BEAUTIFUL!!! ✨
She’s MEANT to be emotionless and only attached to senpai. That is LITERALLy the point of her becoming a yandere in the first place, her infatuation with senpai is mainly because he brings colour and joy into her life and was the first thing to make her feel complete. I’ve seen so many comments hating on her character but that is quite literally what she was made for 🤦🏻♀️
@@Asaspecimenyesimextraoddinary real tbh the backstory was fine it just needed a little adjustments into it and more of realistic one's too bc ayano being an emotionless heartless freak that cares abt no one but her self is her whole personality but this person indeed did a great job in rewriting her personality and backstory I don't mind both
I think it would be really interesting if Yandere Chan had Alexithymia. Alexithymia is when the person has difficulty describing their own or others emotions or putting them into words. If she had Alexithymia I feel like the current course of the story would make way more sense.
@@callimara Yeah, its very interesting thing to learn about! if I remember correctly they can slowly learn to regain these feelings by going to therapy and being taught how these emotions work. I personally think it would be cool if Yandere Chan had such a strong attachment to senpai because he was someone who she met at the beginning of her treatment and he was someone who in an accidental sort of way taught her these feelings making her grow kind of attached to him.
@Michael Brody I think it's definitely a possibility but I don't think its the only thing that could lead her to having such an obsessive behavior. There are many different disorders or toxic environments that can lead to the way she reacts :)
My idea for Ayano's real name is Yua Byōki. The name Yua can mean Tie, Bind, Love, and Affection. The word Byōki in japanese can mean sick. If we take Yua as meaning love, and Byōki as being sick, you get the meaning behind her name. Love Sick. Not only does it match her yandere character, its a nod to the original concept title of the game.
I think callimara wanted Yandere-chan to be in disguise as the rich girl, I mean, considering their deal I would think that Yandere-chan making herself to look like the rich girl would be a requirement.
Yandere Dev, you don't want a relationship- you a want a codependency. This is a good look into what Yandere Dev thinks women are for, and why he acts the way he does when people ask questions or poke and prod at his intentions. You say "Why would a happy person need love?" because you've never been in a relationship and it shows. A relationship takes two. Not one person adoring the other and the other clinging onto the other trying not to be forgotten. Yandere Dev, you make me sick.
Anybody like how in yansim some characters have actual names like Saki, but others are named like "Bathtub toenail hair salon insect queen" and alex is like "yess such a good name"
Theory: what if Ayano doesn't really have feelings because an ancestor of the family sold his soul? Could the soul have anything to do with feelings? Ayano's family has had this problem for generations, and in the world of Yandere Simulator demons and supernatural exist, not to mention the mystery of the cherry tree that existed before school even existed, and the mystery pot behind the legend, and if long ago, in that place, the first woman in the family sold her soul to have the love of her life and it ended up passing through the generations, and all children were born women and without emotions because of the soul?
So a common thing to happen is a familial curse, where somebody wishes for something so big that their own soul is not enough payment so the payment would be the souls of the next 12 generations as well or something like that.
Actually, no. That is not her backstory. Her officially backstory is that most of the females because of a supernatural curse in her family are sociopaths. And they only start to feel something when they find a certain boy they must obtain, since they have been without feelings, most of their lives, this becomes sort of addictive to them. And Ayano did spent her childhood years in a psychiatric hospital because her father knows something is wrong with her and wants to fix her, but her mother is worried about it and teaches her how to clean up and get away with murder in a subtle way at a very young age. She was eventually let out of the psychiatrist hospital because she started to study people and mimic their emotions which made the people think that she had been cured and her father, extremely overjoyed, but even deep down, he knew something was still wrong.
I think Ayano Aishi would be interesting for the name that you go under. As we get closer to Senpai in the game, it may be interesting to get to know the character of Yandere-Chan as Senpai finds out about her as well. In a good ending of sorts, he'd find out her true name and realize that it was the girl from the ward all along. Though somewhat disturbing and strange to Senpai, if he really did share the same feelings as her (assuming he doesn't know about any of the bloody business she has), I think it'd be bittersweet.
When the students in the game look better than ayano: 💅 Edit: hi! This comment is now inactive and I will not be replying to replies attached to this comment.
An unknown protagonist would be very interesting, I think something similar to Frisk from Undertale would be a very good concept. We give our protagonist a name, a name she believes herself it's hers, but at the end of the game we learn her real one (Kazuko, Juno, etc), maybe we even know her last name thanks to the hospital tag but just that, nothing else. We name her at the beginning and build her across the game, creating this persona, someone who isn't that girl from the hospital but our last name is still there to remind us of who we are. That would be interesting but having to fake being someone else might make the customization of our real name irrelevant because we are given already an identity we have to follow. Anyway, this concept you are creating is very interesting and amazing! Keep up this amazing work!!!
@@meinss7464 Juno is the Roman version of the Greek goddess hera who gets very jealous of who her husband, Jupiter or Zeus, falls in love with. Usually she curses or kills the woman who gets her husband's attention.
This entire concept made my writer's brain go absolutely wild. And I'd love to write a fan story of this if you are alright with this. I of course would credit you for the ideas and wait for more information before I did anything.
@@bpeterman5207 If I do write this, I'm probably going to post it on ao3. But first I need to wait for more information from the source. I gave one of my ideas I had on her next video, but I might change it depending on what else she posts
Something about how the backstory goes feels more like how people think some mental disorders work, ei antisocial personality disorder. It gives off feelings of how Split tried to villainize that mental illness? I like how a lot got changed, but there are some things that just give off a bad feeling
I've put a disclaimer in the description stating that what I wrote is a very extreme and rare case of psychosis where it is untreated and the person is under a lot of mental and emotional stress from their environment and no support system or assistance for it and is in no way meant to represent the condition as a whole. This story just happens to be one of those unfortunate cases.
Random idea I had (heavily inspired by a character from tbhk btw): I think that the phrases “poor thing”, “how awful”, “what a shame” and things similar to that would be triggering for her. It would remind her of the things the doctors used to whisper to each other when they talked about her. E.g.: She would be walking through the halls and she passes by two nurses that whisper to each other, “I heard she killed her parents in a fit of rage” the other gasps and stares at Yan-Chan like she’s a zoo animal. “How awful..” the nurse would say, “what a shame..” she’d hiss. Suddenly I’m writing a fanfic in the yt comment section?? Here’s a clap for reading this all :) 👏👏
id say that a system where your choices effect later on things, senpai would call her by her name, but she could also say for others to call her by her fake name, if she uses her real name too much, it would draw attention due to too many people calling her too many differnt things, but the fake name could also cause some mental damage and bring yan chan to an identity crisis. She could use the excuse of wrongly printed info or saying one name is real and the other is a nickname, but i feel like this should also raise suspicion of students, giving us a pick your poision type of scenario. Also amazing ideas!! too bad this wont actually be the yan sim
I LOVE this redesigned of Ayano! She definitely looks like her own character instead of a model you can buy anywhere. And I’m glad I’m not the only one who was bothered by the panty shots thing, it feels really gross and perverted and sort of like a tactic for people to play the game but that’s just me. I really love how she looks here, I love her hair and her uniform it’s just so amazing! Let’s hope Yandev doesn’t try to steal this and claim it as his if it gets more popular
If YanSim’s Lore was anything like what your ideas were, and the game was made by *someone else to say the least* I bet it would be well, *actually decent* good video.
I love this redesign of Yandere-Chan. She seems so much more alive and realistic, like she could actually be a sympathetic character. I want to be an author, but I also draw, and character design is one of my passions, I love seeing people design characters and redesign them. Before Yandere-Chan felt like a robotic shell without any personality or charm, but now I feel for her. I actually want to know what happens to her. I personally love the idea of Ayano being her fake identity, and not giving her a true name in the game would not only make it more mysterious, and add to the sense of lacking a personal identity, but also allow the player to put themselves in her shoes better. Maybe there would be a special ending, a "good" ending, where her name would be revealed. After everything is said and done, when she finally feels she has an identity and can be herself and doesn't need to pretend to be someone else. When she finally feels she can start anew and be free of her past, that's when you get her true name.
9:57 Good point. "Sempai" means upper classmen. It makes me cringe that this word is now accociated with stereotypical "UwU Kawaii sempai! Nyaaa~! Notice meh sempai~!" weeb stuff that's being thrown around the internet(No offense). There's even a song about it now...ugh...
I think it would be really cool and make a lot of sense if her motive for killing was not necessarily to be with him, but rather to PROTECT him, from what she thinks are evil girls trying to hurt him, like before. This would be extra supported if senpai tried to kill himself over a toxic relationship with a girl.
I like how you revamped Ayano! I was wondering if you can do Taro next? We need an attractive Senpai so that it would make sense for 10 girls to fall in love with him. 😔✋
@Michael Brody That may be the case but honestly Senpai is such a bland character and a cardboard box has way more personality than him. Also the basic anime boy harem protagonist is such an overused trope it's literally annoying. I like unique characters with their own personality, not cringy overused anime tropes. Some tropes, if executed correctly, can have wonderful results, and Senpai, is definitely not executed well I don't see anything that would make Senpai any better.
@Michael Brody That's exactly what I'm doing. Not playing the game at all since there's multiple games with characters who already have personality and gain more after their development. Firstly though, I'd like to mention that liking classical music isn't personality, it's a preference. Being upset over a girl who he's been with since CHILDHOOD is obvious that he's going to be upset if she was murdered/keeping distance/gone missing. Who wouldn't be sad over a lost friend? A character who starts with personality is likable and after their development can make them even more likable. At the start, Senpai is boring and I don't see anyone liking him too much, but at the end, if he gains more character through the story, of course people will start liking him. But at this current state of the game, he's basically the same old faceless Visual Novel protagonist.
@Michael Brody Isn't what you're saying basically sums up what a normal person would do? The main reason he is plain is because he has NO backstory whatsoever.
@Michael Brody ummm senpai cuts ties with osana after she's expelled or slandered by gossip (or at least rejects her confession, i don't really remember), it shows that he doesn't trust his childhood friend and doesn't want to hear her perspective, rather, he goes with the flow and believes the gossip, it kinda shows that he's a shallow and superficial person
A suggestion for Yandere-Chan's true name could be Keiko Minoru, which means "Shadowy Truth", while her fake name could be Kireina Kanji, which means "Beautiful Lie". This is just a sugestion, but I think these would be great fake and real names for Yandere-Chan.
I don't know why but i had the thought of ayono's cover being related to megami the final rival for some reason, makes the threat of her so much bigger
I knew I liked the blazer more on Ayano and I didn't know why, but now I do. It just... makes more sense. Also, oftentimes older students at my school also use blazers on top of the uniform, mostly for formal purposes like giving speeches; and knowing just how strict Japan can be, in my perspective it just always made more sense that the older students wore blazers.
Ok ok listen. Have it be a complete mystery throughout the game. have it be a conflict as through her delusions she looses a sense of herself. am I Ayano and if Im not who could i possibly be? do I want to be Ayano? Are these friends I may or not have made my friends, or Ayanos friends? does sempai love me or Ayano? is there a difference anymore? Only for it to be answered in the good ending after you seduce sempai. after a good day at school you meet by the cherry blossom tree, he holds your hand and he acknowledges you. maybe its a nickname he gave you at the ward maybe its a look, but you realize that he knows its you and loves you anyway. and you realize, that it doesnt matter. he loves you and that is enough. THEN you go back to the ward! with the knowledge you are loved and appreciated, with your friends and sempai in mind, you walk up to the front desk, or your led inside your room, and the last line of the game is, "I'm (First name, Last name) and Im here for my physic evaluation"
I actually love how sympathetic you made Yandere-Chan, it makes her feel like a more fit protagonist while still having the negative aspects of her character
Perhaps the rich girl is new to the area. If her family is rich and runs a large business (perhaps with a chain around the country), her family would move a fair amount depending on where the head of the company needs to be (whichever of her guardians). This means the rich girl is new to town and not may people at the academy know her/her face (and thus other students in the school wouldn't be sus as to why the rich girl looked different). Perhaps she was talking to a few new people she met while at a fancy shop when yandere-chan meets her so she still had that initial interaction but not a well-known social status in town. When yandere-chan enrolls (it does have to be in the rich girl's name as that's the name on the report card that would go back to the rich girl's family would be), she doesn't need to pull a full disguise on, but rather have a wealthy appearance as to not tarnish the rich girl's family name. When yandere-chan is finally at school and meets Taro, he recognizes that she is familiar for a while, but can't quite put his finger on it. If he does ever find out, it doesn't need to ruin the story as perhaps she plays it off as she got better and was released. Maybe she lies and tells him that she told him a fake name in the ward as she's not a very open person (thus to Taro explaining why she also never said explicitly why she was in there).
Hey! I just wanted to throw my hat in the ring and share my opinion on your rewritten ayano. Personally, as someone who’s been institutionalized in a psych ward a couple of times, my biggest gripe is the persuasion of the nurses for ayano and senpai to interact, from my experiences and witnessing others there, they actually really push for the opposite, instead kind of forcing small groups and people apart. Another thing is that I don’t really feel attached to the murdering parents trope, I like the idea behind it though, but I don’t believe a child of her size and age could believably pull off murder without it being very calculated and preplanned. Personally, I would like to see her get very sporadically violent with her parents, causing harm but not anything fatal, and needing to be institutionalized. Maybe instead of dealing with psychosis, you could implement the idea that there was some sort of abuse at play throughout her childhood, causing her to develop issues like bpd or sociopathy. Those traumas could cause a wide range of issues so it’s really your pick as to which fits the character you’re writing. As to meeting in the psych ward, I’ve already stated my personal opinion on just interactions within it, but I don’t think it would be the best route to go, nor the most gripping or believable. Personally, I would have have her be freshly back to school after a long period of time being in and out of the institution and enduring many treatments and therapies. Maybe her attraction to senpai comes from some sort of internalized Stockholm syndrome or attachment disorder. Those are just my thoughts though and I’m definitely not telling you how you should and shouldn’t write your version of her, just wanted to share my opinions on what you’ve already got down. Keep up the good work though!
Also proper execution is also a phat necessity, it’s very appreciated to do research on the topics and issues you choose to implement into your interpretation of ayano and the crew. I mentioned bpd in the previous comment as a possible illness that she could’ve developed because i myself am afflicted with it as well as cptsd, which has given me similar possessive and destructive results that I can project onto a slate like ayano. Its key to make sure your representation of the used illnesses are as accurate as you can make them, not all ill characters are good people, you can write a character to empathize with but not agree with their actions. Characters like this with much research allow viewers to think very deeply onto them, contemplating their actions and questioning their morals. I’d love to see your future interpretations of her character, you’re doing great so far :)
Only 24 mins in nd I love all the changes expect for how she left the psych hospital. The first place the cops would have checked would have been her old house so that makes no sense and I think with a combo of meds nd acting (which cn help with cover ups later on) Yan-chan should have been able to pretend to be normal. For example she could have copied the progress of someone in the psych ward that was able to leave. She could have faked a break thru and recovery with the doctor and gotten out. Because honestly if she's a wanted criminal who just escaped she's not gunna be able to enroll in school without someone noticing.
Damn, really good points there! Although doctors and nurses are more trained to identify those sorts of faking behaviours, they won't always be successful 100% of the time. It also sets an excellent precedent for her manipulation tactics in the school!
@@callimara exactly! I rly love ur version of the story it makes a lot more sense nd gets rid of all the uncomfortable parts of Yandevs og story. I can't wait to see what else u think of.
I think that a perfect ending would be Taro asking Ayano, "Who are you, really?" and Ayano would smile and say, "I am Ayano Aishi. It's nice to meet you." And by the end of however long the game is, she would have grown much less attached to Taro, and she would realize that it will all be okay in the end.
When I saw your design, I immediately detected a personality from her. She shows a lot of who she is on her face, and to me, is already unforgettable I also love her backstory. It makes me care about her and how she ends up later on (exactly what a protag needs) and makes her current state make a lot more sense Basically, what I'm trying to say is that you're good :)
Fun fact according to Yandere Dev Ayano's original design was that she was supposed to have short black fluffy hair,a white eye patch, and a black uniform but then they decided to scratch out this idea and decided to stick with the present day Ayano design
Is it bad that this new design is one I wouldn't mind stalking me? :P In all seriousness, gorgeous re-design! In terms of the identity of Yandere-Chan, I think it should be left up to the player. Like, there should be several breadcrumbs in the game that give conflicting information on who she is and where she came from. A possible idea would be to have a kind of side quest of sorts in the game where as part of your investigations, you find that some people are trying to work out who's behind the disappearances, and they have different ideas on identities with information that each seem to match up - in a certain light - to the player's understanding of the character they're playing. However, I think we could go deeper. She has a serious psychosis affecting her mental state, so what if her flashbacks aren't always 100% accurate or reliable? And as her mental state deteriorates, it gets harder and harder to discern reality from fiction. So as you go through the game, you find easter eggs and newsclippings and radio interviews and overhear conversations and stuff like that that eventually ends up pointing to one of five possible candidates as to who "Yan-Chan" actually *is.* The twist is, there seems to be equal evidence for each of the five candidates, and the game never actually confirms or denies which one is correct; it leaves it up to the fans to debate and theorycraft as to which identity they think fits the character best. Even better, you could imply that as the game goes on, Yan-Chan herself isn't entirely certain which one is true as her psychosis gets worse and her flashbacks get more hazy. Is this flashback she just had evidence for one of the identities, or is she projecting herself onto something she overheard and internalised? To borrow a phrase from The Joker, "If I'm going to have a backstory, I'd rather it be multiple choice." xD I dunno, just an interesting idea I had that I thought could be a good way to add a bit of intrigue to the game, and give poor old MattPat something else to obsess over rather than FNAF. xD Loved the video, loved the redesign, I can't wait to see your obviously smexy redesign of Senpai...and finally, of course... We must All Hail The Algorithm!
This is a fun rewrite. However, I would basically consider this a different, separate game. It’s just too different than the original. Still fun though.
Fr. She’s supposed to be cold and emotionless, her only ounce of joy is her infatuation with senpai. She doesn’t ever smile except when laughing to bring her sanity down, and everyone in the comments is hating on the original character?? She was quite literally designed to be this way so I don’t understand why everybody hates how ‘average’ she looks or how ‘boring’ her personality is. I’d say her original character fits more with the game. I don’t think she’d be the type to care how she looks as her only care is making sure senpai is safe and single, and she never attempts to change herself to be noticed either. Here she looks like her mother’s character which is a whole other persona. Idk why but this entire comments section is rubbing me the wrong way I’m so irritated rn.
@@Asaspecimenyesimextraoddinary We're hating on the original Ayano because she's bad and boring. Her design is a basic Unity store asset, her entire character is built off of Yandere Dev's fantasy of a co-dependent relationship, and she has no personality to speak of. She isn't even a yandere, even if you ignore the whole 'no emotions' thing, she doesn't even LOVE Taro. She just likes that she can feel emotions near him, but there's no romantic feelings that a yandere should have. And if she doesn't care about her appearance, then why does Yandere Dev keep reiterating that she needs to appear as a cute and sweet school girl (although her appearance in the game presents anything but that) Yandere Dev is a shitty writer, and that shitry writing is reflected through Ayano. Her design and character are plain and boring because Alex isn't creative enough to actually flesh her out, same with every other feature in the game. Also, the tilte literally says it's a revamp, so of course it's going to be different.
Hi! Person with psychosis here, An acute psychotic episode would more likely lead to a murder attempt, seeing as she's a little girl and can't actually kill an adult man and woman
Instead of being put in a youth psychiatric facility for murder, she'd be put there for attempted murder instead. Those sentencing her would probably argue since she came close to killing her own parents then who knows what she could do to others that's why her being put under psychiatric care would be best. That way she still feels guilt over what she tried to do, the parents would probs move out as they wouldn't want to be reminded of what almost happened to them, she'd still meet senpai and all the other events would still happen. It would tell the players just exactly of what yan chan is capable of being so close to murdering someone before. Also I'm sorry you're suffering from psychosis I can't imagine what that is like. I hope that things are still ok for you regardless of dealing with something like that
interesting characterization. when i looked more into Yan-chan's character, I thought she was closer to a Kuudere than a Yandere. a Yandere is supposed to act sweet on the outside, but becomes jealous to the possibility of harming others to get their way.
(I know I'm a year late lmao) Yes, she is more like a Kuudere (her MBTI type is INTJ, they're not exactly Kuuderes but most Kuuderes have the concept of an INTJ I think) When showing the "trailer" and "backstory" from her to my friends who didn't know the game, one of them said that she's a psychopath, who can finally feel "real emotions" bc of Taro-senpai and wants to keep him, because she wants to feel "real emotions" and that seems like the only way I think the only "yandere" part about her could be her OLD, though she's rather obsessed with the thought of Taro as her bf or just the feelings she can get because of him (Her backstory literally states that she's desperate to feel emotions)
The actual definition of yandere is a lovesick girl who's willing to kill for the person she loves. People love writing yanderes as someone who acts sweet but is secretly dangerous is such a nice and scary idea that they often use that whenever they write yanderes
Keeping her real identity mysterious definitely adds such a strong effect! I think Ayano Aishi should be the fake identity for sure, it already fits a lot of what was set up with both base game and this revamp. With this revamp, it's so much easier to feel emotion for Yandere-chan. Being an emotional person, I even teared up during the back story because you can feel sympathy, her life has some meaning instead of aimlessly killing and being manipulative for a boy. While yandere isn't a mental illness, psychosis is and this definitely builds on how those crossroads and become one.
Absolutely love this version of Ayano more then the original. I really like the way you suggested she calms herself and could definitely see a mini-game of sorts for deep breathing (similar to the feather in Celeste). Also i think her true identity should be Ayano but we are impersonating ourselves. Perhaps we are able to enter a name we want that turns out to be the girl that actually helps us, similar to Undertale. Also I think it would be awesome if the girl who helped us comes back as the final rival making it almost near impossible to be at the school. She wouldn’t rat us out but rather let us be free so she can rub it in our face when she gets with Senpai. We’d have to sneak around and not be spotted at all while also dealing with low to no mediation with the effect being varied depending on if we have killed in the past or not
It's a big reason why people thought Ryoba was a better protagonist then Ayano simple because of her way of murders, her fake personality which is very different from ayanos 'no emotion' face, that's what made Ryoba more unique. She was smart with her techniques but the reason why she was in love was a bit more from a fairy tail.
Ooh! The part where yandere chan thinks positive thoughts, should be flashes/images of senpai! It adds to the obsession, and her thought that hes the only one that makes her feel better/makes her work
I can’t like this enough. I love how you actually have the balls to put a name to her condition, and that you’re promoting coping skills and getting help! Whilst also being a creepy murder story. I love her design, I love taros new character, and I love your ideas for exposition. Good job!
Here’s something for ya. My mom actually sent this to me about something when doing whites of someone’s eyes in drawings. It’s called Sanpaku eyes, it’s a Japanese term that means three whites. Basically it can help someone tell when they look at a character if they have bad intentions
It should be left a secret until the end of the game. I feel like the ritch girl you're pretending to be should be the white hair rival. So when he gets feelings for senpai it's a whole 180. (The ritch girl and Yandere chan should be building a freindship as the story goes along too) so we have the smidge of edge and sadness to this struggle.
I adore the way you redesigned her!! Not only is her hair such a power move with the Azula notch but her whole backstory actually makes sense and gives us as players something to uncover and understand better. I love the idea of her striking a deal with a random rich girl a lot too. It not only gives us an info-chan but also explains everything school-related in one smooth swoop.
with the way you've redesigned her, i feel like i can relate to her more. she struggles with controlling her emotions, and it makes her seem so much more real. you are doing ayano justice with this design
I realllly like this design of Ayano. She’s so beautiful but as you said the eyes give an mysterious and determined aura to her. Also I like the fact that you went with the modern hair, it gives her such a unique look, makes her look even more like the main character and not like the unity model she is. Also I found it funny that the fact that Yandere Dev believes Ayano’s look is “trademarked” by him considering the fact that he literally took the model from Unity. Also that fake love piano cover is so impactful in this scenario.
It could be cool if later in the game info-chan is harder to contact, limiting hints, and it could be explained that Info-Chan is in more and more different timezones than the one in Japan.
Yandev: *excuses his simple writing by saying it’s a tribute to anime* Lelouch vi brittania, one of the most complex anime characters of the 21st century: “am I a joke to you?”
I think yandere dev was just scared to give the characters actual mental illness because he feels like one of those men who invalidate a woman's feelings and think its disgusting they even have emotions. Because they only see them as objects.
Dude this redesign is so beautiful! And the backstory makes her a much better protagonist and someone you'd want to root for or invest in. It also justifies her want to protect senpai rather than just emotions. Imagine if this backstory was slowly revealed the more the story is complete in the game. This is awesome and deserves more views! Your art and animatics are amazing
Personally I think a game like yansim could work with TONS of tweaks. I can imagine a hitman like game where your partner gets into alot of trouble like being kidnapped (maybe their family is super rich and they're a huge target) and you have to rescue them. I'd love a spy/hitman yandere game and info chan could be your Atlas throughout. It feels alot better to x-out horrible people than random school girls. Less creepy too.
Ayano Aishi should be the name she takes up in classes for the Rich Girl, having that be her name. Maybe Kanishi Hana can be her Real Name (also about "Kanishi" I took the word "Sad" or google translated "Kanashi" for inspiration in the name... as in replacing one letter so it's more like a name because it doesn't exactly translate back into english).
I thought the retelling of the story was a bit cringy at first but I actually came out to like it by the end! This is a sweet set up that I think can be really interesting and makes Ayano or Yandere-chan way cooler! I love her design and it really gives her a lot of personality! Awesome job!
The personality you made goes with not only your new backstory about her obsessiveness over the people she loves because she doesn’t want to lose anyone like she did her parents
I like the idea of Ayano being cunning and intelligent! I would like to suggest how those traits came into light. Maybe she earns all these traits from the psych ward or picked it up while adapting from the psych ward to the real world?
That's actually a pretty good question!: I've seen on a website explaining what a psych ward was like ( the website is www.psycom.net/what-a-psychiatric-ward-is-really-like btw ), and it mentions there being a 'study time' (this is half way through the "How is the day structured there?" paragraph) for school-aged patients. Assuming this is the same for most / all psych wards, then this would be the reason of how Yan-chan got so intelligent!
I’d like to think Ayano was actually a normal girl but her mother closed her off from other kids and trying to mold her into an exact copy of herself. Her father didn’t like this and would start fighting with her about how she was neglecting her daughter’s emotional needs. After a while,Ayano was convinced that she wasn’t a normal girl or just wasn’t allowed to be one.As a result,Ayano as a person developed as a human slower than others. She would sometimes sneak out and meet some of her future classmates. When her mother found out,she would keep Ayano in a room with potential murder options as a punishment so it would happen often. She then began to imitate her friends before copying their actions at her home which made her father happy. Her mother started to try and mind-break her father because she knew Ayano would only listen her father. She then enclosed Ayano in the house permanently.Years later, her parents went to America(to catch the Journalist) during that time Ayano applied for Akademi and met her Senpai.
To be honest I would love to see this story as a game... Since it is an actual story. With realistic reasons how a yandere personality would affect someone. Also really like the idea that Ayano another girls name she pretends to be. Awesome job and love your art style 💕
I think it's interesting that he made her a blank slate so that people could insert themselves into the character, but like, if you are playing a game about a murderer you don't want to play as yourself, you want to play a character. So he should have fleshed her out. But if this type of person is what he wants in a partner than I guess he would want people to see themselves in the character... which isn't going to happen, and if it does, it's not going to happen as much as he wants. Also, to comment on his need to be needed. Imagine finding someone that doesn't need you but chooses to be with you because they love you, isn't that just that much more special?
yeah nobody can relate to a blank character like Ayano, she isn't badass or interesting. He should make her evil with no remorse imo, just like Ryoba (which is a way better protag than Ayano because Ryoba actually has a personnality, she is manipulative and cruel, she talks to herself and she's always smiling even though she's completly cold). Ayano also should have monologues with herself and she should be sarcastic about everything. She should criticize her rivals with a neutral tone and other shit. Also, why doesn't the dev make her look cool...? I'm okay with the fact she feels nothing but that's not a reason to be ugly, Ayano is so generic that some NPC-students have a better design than her in her own game like wtf Ayano could be a cold badass but idk, the dev made her an emotional psycho who simp like hell like come on... she's no't interesting, nobody will be attached to Ayano if she behaves like this all the time :/
your version of yansim is so much more interesting! I really like how everything has a reason and a cause, it's not just throwing things together and call it a day like yansim's puzzling lore. I really like how it gives yan chan more background. She's not just a random girl with no emotions, she has a real backstory and reasons to be where she is, and even a convincing relation to senpai! I would love to play something with this type of storyline. You did a great job :D
I love the way you revamped Ayano, her character description and backstory- awesome. If you don't mind... could I use details of it to write a story of my own. Not for an upcoming project or anything but just something I can put in my book of ideas because I sincerely believe that who the protagonist is and how they interact with other characters makes a story more than anything
I LOVE the backstory! It is SO much better than the old one. Also, since Senpai was suicidal, he could be bullied in school and have problems at home. Yan-chan could want to protect him, so she starts "getting rid" of his bullies, and as she takes care of him, she starts feeling entitled to him. She has done so much for him, so he should be with her. For that reason, when other people start taking his time, Yan-chan feels left aside. It would be nice if, at the end of the game, Senpai can find what Yan-chan has been doing, and he has different reactions depending on the severity of your actions. One of the endings could be that Yan-chan realizes that she is now Senpai's bully, and she leaves him
I love everything about this the azula looking hair the entire new plot all the new interactions if this really were a game it would be 100 times better then the actual yandere sim
I absolutely LOVE your videos and all the effort you put into them. I truly wish we could implement some of these ideas into game but yeah. Thanks for everything you do 💕
I mean, we all want to be adored by someone, that’s an amazing feeling, but people who are complete on their own often have more to give and are able to receive that adoration in healthier ways.
its been a year since this series has been released, and I cant help but return to it every once in awhile. Its refreshing to watch your take on this series, on how such a shallow story could be so much better done by such an excellent writer and artist.
My god I wish this was her back story i would be SO immersed and obsessed with yandere simulator if this was her back story and the game was made hy someone else. Km so obsessed with this redesign!!
I love the idea of the backstory slowly drawing her back up- however I feel as though there is a danger and a flaw in having Yandere-Chan break out of the psychiatric hospital. There would be surveillance of too many people looking for her throughout the story making it harder for her to accomplish anything. Instead, what if she began to utilize her intelligence and began to act in a way that was favorable for the doctors/nurses to give her a clean bill of health. She could eventually be released with customary checkups required and add an element of her returning to the hospital and prove she’s doing “fine”, as well as have the option to admit (a game over) or lie about “hurting anyone else.” Her having a clean bill of health leaving the ward as well could also give her the opportunity to gain support systems, like government allowances for orphans or ability to get a job without worry. Also electricity, food, plumbing and maintenance can be utilized at the house without Much less trouble, and she can choose to leaves the lights off and such as she desires.
I'd definitely play your version of the game!! Your new backstories and character designs remind me a little of Alice: Madness Returns, and it got me thinking about an Alice/your version of Yan-sim combo game, which would be pretty awesome. Great video!
Once upon a time, Alex described Yandere Simulator as a dating simulator in which a background character is killing off the main characters. I feel this design for Ayano supports that line of thinking. She looks like an average girl no one would look twice at. That would allow her to go about her plans without fear of being caught. I like it :)
@@callimara Oh, by the way, about the story, your Yandere Chan could approach Senpai over the phone, maybe with a fake account, so if things turned out well they could meet in person at the end, maybe during the game if she had normal behavior, the hospital she fled from would realize that she is better, and despite having fled, she would soon be free and stay with Senpai like I said!
TW self harm Hear me out. Ayano could have the urge to harm something. If she doesn't harm something living she will try to harm herself. As a kid she'd harm animals and go to therapy but her urge grew as she got older. Ayano would probably only know how to harm people or act like she cares. She would want to become a normal human being. She would have to study someone who is generic. She would see that taro is that generic person. She would even like the things he likes because she thinks it's generic normal idea. She would become obsessed with him. She wouldn't be able to study him if he was influenced by a girl. She could decide to fight her urge by harming these girls. This would justify ayano as a messed up character.
if this became an actual game, i'd pay my soul for it? this is amazing- (btw, your art is beautiful! i know this was made a long time ago, but it's just really lovely.)
This is so cool, like I wish this was a game. I would love to play it too. Yandere dev needs to just stop with all the bad things they are doing like maybe if they were an actually good person and not just making the game for money maybe it would actually be a good game.
I will say. You did a waaaaaaaay better job than Yanderedev did. From research or developement of the character. Literally,I feel bad for this version of Yandere chan. You do not excuse or glorify her violent problematic behavior and you do give depth on where it came from and why she is the way she is. She's not just a blank "i dont feel anything" character. She's her OWN character :) Good job on that!
This is great! There is one thing I would like to potentially add to the story, though. First of all, I'm going to be referring to the rich girl as Ayano and Yandere-chan as Yandere-chan for the sake of differentiating them while still giving them names. Anyway, since Ayano is off travelling the world, she wouldn't be able to come home to her parents in the evenings. You could argue that Yandere-chan looks exactly like Ayano and is living at Ayano's house in her place. However, looking identical to someone is pretty far-fetched, plus if you've ever been close to a pair of identical twins, over time you can easily tell them apart by looking at them-and that's totally ignoring any differences in their personalities, even. Therefore, I think Ayano's parents would notice that there was something wrong with their daughter. In addition to this, I'm assuming Ayano herself isn't self-made and instead uses her parents' money. As such, they likely have access to her bank account and credit cards and such and would be able to see Ayano is spending money on plane tickets as well as at places in other countries. They would likely become suspicious of her and try to figure out what's going on. I managed to come up with several suggestions, but they all felt somewhat unrealistic or cliched to me. I was wondering if you (or anyone else in the comments section who wants to try their hand at this) would be able to come up with a new and interesting take on this that wouldn't fall into the trope of the sad rich girl whose parents don't love her and only see her a company asset.
It's so important to be able to receive help.

he presents himself in his videos as a ''cutesy anime boy'' which looks VERY similar to taro too...
she should have a friend showing how her possessive behavior isn't just towards senpai, and maybe they'll accidentally give her an idea for murder, like " Its dangerous to have hair that long! " or " This railing seems loose "
yess
@@sleepylilwolf1749 PERFECTION
omg my brain said “well they’d have to be pretty naive and/or shy to be her friend despite her being possessive...” and I immediately thought of Oka now I’m suddenly craving a thing where her friend is Oka and the poor girl just accidentally gives murder advices 24/7 because she’s just trying to warn people but since she’s shy, quiet, and introverted (and leader of the the Occult Club) she sounds menacing and makes Yan-Chan think...
(And I’m assuming she doesn’t know about Yan-Chan’s murders, obviously, and the poor girl probably wouldn’t link it to her.)
This also might tie into another theory I saw in another comment... Where Yan-Chan’s family has actually been cursed by a demon. It could explain why Oka would randomly be friends with Yan-Chan, a girl who’s obviously pretty, popular(sort of), and ‘not on the same level as her’.
@@loveloveaii ngl cool theory/idea
You are amazing
Here’s an idea: what if the player isn’t given Yan-chan’s backstory at the beginning of the game, but instead at the end of each day she writes in her diary. At some point in the game, maybe after she confesses to Taro, she would look back at previous entries and we would learn the backstory from her perspective.
yooooo thats a great idea
I love this.
too good
That´s just the best way to portrate her I ever heard!
Maybe she when she gets flashbacks she gets a playable cutscene of how she felt before the murder, if you keep calm and keep your sanity regular it causes her to want to write a diary entry to overcome her trauma, if you get all entries,
you could get a flashback / playable cutscene mini movie with all of it shown one after the other as a mini ingame bonus for playing well and getting the best ending.
And if she keeps failing at staying well in the cutscenes, her mental health will drop by 10% causing her to need more medication, aka hurrying you up,
if you dont and your mental health drops to 0 she'll have a panic attack, which when someone calls an ambulance they will notice that she escaped the hospital.
I mean, she does have more character to her now, but not back then
She’s MEANT to be emotionless and only attached to senpai. That is LITERALLy the point of her becoming a yandere in the first place, her infatuation with senpai is mainly because he brings colour and joy into her life and was the first thing to make her feel complete. I’ve seen so many comments hating on her character but that is quite literally what she was made for 🤦🏻♀️
@@Asaspecimenyesimextraoddinary real

I think it would be really interesting if Yandere Chan had Alexithymia. Alexithymia is when the person has difficulty describing their own or others emotions or putting them into words. If she had Alexithymia I feel like the current course of the story would make way more sense.
That's an interesting idea! I didn't know about Alexithymia!
@Michael Brody I don't think I've ever ever heard of this disorder, that's very interesting! :)
@Michael Brody I think it's definitely a possibility but I don't think its the only thing that could lead her to having such an obsessive behavior. There are many different disorders or toxic environments that can lead to the way she reacts :)
That is GENIUS
My idea for Ayano's real name is Yua Byōki. The name Yua can mean Tie, Bind, Love, and Affection. The word Byōki in japanese can mean sick. If we take Yua as meaning love, and Byōki as being sick, you get the meaning behind her name. Love Sick. Not only does it match her yandere character, its a nod to the original concept title of the game.

This is way more emotional than "I'm edgy teen who has no emotion and kills for boring boy" well done
Though somewhat disturbing and strange to Senpai, if he really did share the same feelings as her (assuming he doesn't know about any of the bloody business she has), I think it'd be bittersweet.

wasnt ayano designed to literally look average?
Ohhhh this is actually realy cool!!!

I love this idea!
Maybe in the late 2000s, that stuff isn’t so common anymore.
I mean this game is about anime troupes, that's why she calls him senpai.
@@auggiemain Another reason to cringe though.
@@unicornburgers302 Sadly, people still do it. It's freaking annoying imho...
ok but out of the blue, by any chance you watch zaccrim as well? i swear i think i saw you there...
He's up next!
Does Keiko mean Truth?
those sound so edgy
@@ablm04 No, truth is Shinjitsu(真実)
I don't know why but i had the thought of ayono's cover being related to megami the final rival for some reason, makes the threat of her so much bigger
Yes! One of the other options I had for the rich girl's identity was Megami instead of Info-chan
QUEEN! THIS IS AMAZING!

@@callimara you're welcome
She shows a lot of who she is on her face, and to me, is already unforgettable
I also love her backstory. It makes me care about her and how she ends up later on (exactly what a protag needs)
and makes her current state make a lot more sense
Basically, what I'm trying to say is that you're good :)
In all seriousness, gorgeous re-design!
To borrow a phrase from The Joker, "If I'm going to have a backstory, I'd rather it be multiple choice." xD
I dunno, just an interesting idea I had that I thought could be a good way to add a bit of intrigue to the game, and give poor old MattPat something else to obsess over rather than FNAF. xD
Loved the video, loved the redesign, I can't wait to see your obviously smexy redesign of Senpai...and finally, of course...

This is a fun rewrite. However, I would basically consider this a different, separate game. It’s just too different than the original. Still fun though.
I feel the same way. I love the revamp but it feel like completely new game.
yeah like this version of ayana revamped be used in a different game like i am looking forward in looking for a character like the revamp shown here
And if she doesn't care about her appearance, then why does Yandere Dev keep reiterating that she needs to appear as a cute and sweet school girl (although her appearance in the game presents anything but that)
Yandere Dev is a shitty writer, and that shitry writing is reflected through Ayano. Her design and character are plain and boring because Alex isn't creative enough to actually flesh her out, same with every other feature in the game.
Also, the tilte literally says it's a revamp, so of course it's going to be different.
Hi! Person with psychosis here,
An acute psychotic episode would more likely lead to a murder attempt, seeing as she's a little girl and can't actually kill an adult man and woman
(I know I'm a year late lmao)
Yes, she is more like a Kuudere (her MBTI type is INTJ, they're not exactly Kuuderes but most Kuuderes have the concept of an INTJ I think)
When showing the "trailer" and "backstory" from her to my friends who didn't know the game, one of them said that she's a psychopath, who can finally feel "real emotions" bc of Taro-senpai and wants to keep him, because she wants to feel "real emotions" and that seems like the only way
I think the only "yandere" part about her could be her OLD, though she's rather obsessed with the thought of Taro as her bf or just the feelings she can get because of him
(Her backstory literally states that she's desperate to feel emotions)
The actual definition of yandere is a lovesick girl who's willing to kill for the person she loves. People love writing yanderes as someone who acts sweet but is secretly dangerous is such a nice and scary idea that they often use that whenever they write yanderes
@@raincandy1653 Ayano isn't love sick though. She's obsessed with Taro because he makes her feel emotions, but she doesn't have feelings for him.
Ayano's voice actor is actually Micheala Laws the fun thing is that Micheala is a UA-camr
Yandev: *excuses his simple writing by saying it’s a tribute to anime*
Lelouch vi brittania, one of the most complex anime characters of the 21st century: “am I a joke to you?”
Ok but you’re revamp’s backstory is *chef’s kiss*
I think yandere dev was just scared to give the characters actual mental illness because he feels like one of those men who invalidate a woman's feelings and think its disgusting they even have emotions. Because they only see them as objects.
Dude this redesign is so beautiful! And the backstory makes her a much better protagonist and someone you'd want to root for or invest in. It also justifies her want to protect senpai rather than just emotions. Imagine if this backstory was slowly revealed the more the story is complete in the game. This is awesome and deserves more views! Your art and animatics are amazing
Dude! I actually SHIP THEM now!
Mission accomplished!
I just recieved the notification and drop by as soon as posible...This is going to be interesting...
Early gang!
Thanks so much! I hope it wasn't too cringy though ahah!
Although I like the commentary about not caring about mental illnesses but it kinda add to the stereotype of mental illnesses equalling murderer
The personality you made goes with not only your new backstory about her obsessiveness over the people she loves because she doesn’t want to lose anyone like she did her parents
5:31 Yandere Dev, M'Dude, That's not a relationship
*you just straight up want to own a slave*
I like the idea of Ayano being cunning and intelligent! I would like to suggest how those traits came into light. Maybe she earns all these traits from the psych ward or picked it up while adapting from the psych ward to the real world?
That's a good idea!
Thank you!
That's actually a pretty good question!:
I've seen on a website explaining what a psych ward was like ( the website is www.psycom.net/what-a-psychiatric-ward-is-really-like btw ), and it mentions there being a 'study time' (this is half way through the "How is the day structured there?" paragraph) for school-aged patients.
I'm okay with the fact she feels nothing but that's not a reason to be ugly, Ayano is so generic that some NPC-students have a better design than her in her own game like wtf
Ayano could be a cold badass but idk, the dev made her an emotional psycho who simp like hell like come on... she's no't interesting, nobody will be attached to Ayano if she behaves like this all the time :/
your version of yansim is so much more interesting!
Thanks for everything you do 💕
I mean, we all want to be adored by someone, that’s an amazing feeling, but people who are complete on their own often have more to give and are able to receive that adoration in healthier ways.
if she was the one behind yandere simulator, we´d have a masterpiece instead of a controversy
its been a year since this series has been released, and I cant help but return to it every once in awhile.
Its refreshing to watch your take on this series, on how such a shallow story could be so much better done by such an excellent writer and artist.
My god I wish this was her back story i would be SO immersed and obsessed with yandere simulator if this was her back story and the game was made hy someone else. Km so obsessed with this redesign!!
callimara: Yandere chan was an orphan
Also callimara: This lead to various arguments with her parents
I love the idea of the backstory slowly drawing her back up- however I feel as though there is a danger and a flaw in having Yandere-Chan break out of the psychiatric hospital. There would be surveillance of too many people looking for her throughout the story making it harder for her to accomplish anything.
Instead, what if she began to utilize her intelligence and began to act in a way that was favorable for the doctors/nurses to give her a clean bill of health. She could eventually be released with customary checkups required and add an element of her returning to the hospital and prove she’s doing “fine”, as well as have the option to admit (a game over) or lie about “hurting anyone else.”
Her having a clean bill of health leaving the ward as well could also give her the opportunity to gain support systems, like government allowances for orphans or ability to get a job without worry.
Great video!
okay that was the first time i heard yanderedev’s opinion on love and it makes so much happier to be aromantic because that’s terrifying lol
Once upon a time, Alex described Yandere Simulator as a dating simulator in which a background character is killing off the main characters. I feel this design for Ayano supports that line of thinking. She looks like an average girl no one would look twice at. That would allow her to go about her plans without fear of being caught. I like it :)
Will be versions of this vídeo for the rivails or other characters? I will love it! I don't speek english very well, so i'm sorry for any mistake...
Yup!
Yeah, thanks!
TW self harm
Hear me out.
Someone hire this girl IMMEDIATELY
if this became an actual game, i'd pay my soul for it? this is amazing-
(btw, your art is beautiful! i know this was made a long time ago, but it's just really lovely.)
I love how Ayano has a PERSONALITY now
Honestly this is the most romantic story I’ve ever been told lol
You are great at telling compelling stories!!
This is so cool, like I wish this was a game. I would love to play it too. Yandere dev needs to just stop with all the bad things they are doing like maybe if they were an actually good person and not just making the game for money maybe it would actually be a good game.
This is soo good!! The redesign and the re-written story! I absolutely love how deep the story goes
The story you made is amazing. It has so much more depth than the game's story, and senpai finally has a deeper background. Good job! This is amazing!
I'll focus more on him in the next video!
She's her OWN character :)
Good job on that!
That’s why Yandere dev made Ryoba. He listened he made the main character more lovable and her senpai more attractive
