I’m 73 year grandma and have depression etc and I can watch vice grip and he really lifts me up. He is so smart and funny, good medicine for me and I learn things too
Keep up Barbara, the vice grip community loves you ❤
73 here as well.
@@Jabbing_Jack man ain't you a downer Debbie
@@Jabbing_Jack lol I live in the sticks of Ohio so vehicles in bad shape aren't uncommon and the car in this video is a Dedicated Burnout car so more then likely it won't ever be on the road
@@Jabbing_Jack Well good thing you're not a cop then OH I'm pretty sure you couldn't fine him for that much for driving a piece of shit if the state he's driving it in doesn't need an Annual inspection
A guy really owes a feller a cold snack - the girlfriends car wouldn't start and her mechanic told her it was the starter motor (it wasn't). A guy was 73.9% sure it was either a sensor or bad ground (it was). A gal saved on a lot of money and stress, and a guy is now considered a hero, and owes it all to this channel! Cheers VGG! 🍻
SOMEONE GET THIS FELLER A COLD SNACK!!!
@@GTO_Nate for the back neck!
Let's hope she reciprocates.....
@@raten2791 oh she did, a guy got the ol tickle on the Tonya Harding for sure and blew a gasket, even tasted on the ol deesol.
She agreed to help a feller rebuild his carburetor is what I'm sayin.
Sounds like she owes ya one then! 😉
The volume of absolutely top quality content coming out of this channel is really unbelievable, thank you Derek and team!!
Much appreciated
Hell yes. Best channel on YT. Thanks from the UK. Your content has got me through some tough times recently. Anthony.

@@ViceGripGarage hey just a tip if you take and tape right over your surface you don’t want painted you then take a rubber mallet and pound around edges of your machined surface then bam, now you have tape covering only exactly what you don’t want painted, the excess will tear right off as if it were a stencil
@@ViceGripGarage pro tip to pass on...firing order small block Chevy and Mopar - 18436572- try to keep the spark plug wires as far away as possible on cylinders 43 and 65 because they fire really close to each other in the firing order..mark the plugs with a sharpie so the open end gap points up to the intake and exhaust valves...I learned this trick from many racing teams..
A fellers grandfather passed away about a month ago. He really loved watching you revive the cars and driving them home. Every time I would go to his house he would ask “Is Vice grip garage on”? He also did 6 years of service in the Air Force. He went in in 1954 and got out in 1959 then did 39 years at fisher body as a supervisor in the body assembly department. I’ve still got photos of his brand new 1955 Oldsmobile 88 that he drove to California and back to Michigan. I just wanted to say thank you making memories with me and my grand father that I can enjoy till the day I die. God bless you
Absolutely agree that those valve covers are...what's the word?..."defining!" They define our country, they define our identity and they define what Independence Chevelle means to all of us. God bless you for keeping the patriotic vision.
🤝🇺🇲
great to see them under the hood where they belong
There may be nicer looking Chevelles on the ol’ UA-cams but there isn’t a more iconic or meaningful one…Independence just oozes patriotism.. i can feel it and I live where the Maple Leaf flies…. Good luck in the next burn-out bash we’re all rooting for you
@@ViceGripGarage did u get the bolts on them valve covers?
Well said. 🇺🇸
Still remember when you saved on that unit. So crazy how far it’s come since getting it going in that hotel lot. Best series and build on the tube
I thought he was crazy, when he showed the holes in the frame and the side falling off I seriously thought he was going to say "oops, this one is too far gone, I'm sending it to the junkyard." I am glad I was so wrong! It's now world famous!
I do too! He’s a badass! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I sure would have hated one of the people trying to get sleep at the hotel those days, lol

Man, you put in a number of honest day's work getting this thing ready for the show! All while filming and editing near hour long documentaries on a weekly basis. I can tell Jessica works really hard to support the channel as well. You both deserve a tip of the hat and an atta'boy / atta'girl! Keep up the good work!
Thanks Neal

A fella got hurt and ended up in hospital these past 5 weeks. How happy is he to know Derek and his family are continuing to bring the thunder whilst he repairs his broken bones. Sends his love and best wishes all the way from Australia guys. 😉🇦🇺
Hope a fella has a speedy recovery
Get well soon ! Sure helped me with a similar situation. Best from Arkansas mate
Can we all just appreciate how he went and literally got a brand new engine just so we can see burnouts
Not just a new engine, but an engine with a trailer load of horses and more torx than a tugboat!
I think the feller enjoys it as much as any of us. I don't blame him at all. Very cool guy and family!
With the recent move, all the events you've attended lately, the field trips, racing, not to mention family life and the normal pasture rescues, you all have GOT to be worn completely out! Don't forget to take a break and relax now and then. Your physical and mental health will appreciate it!
What cool is if you look most of those outings are family trips.
I'm betting a guy is enjoying plenty of cold snacks in his downtime, in a good way, now.
I was thinking the exact same Thing! I’m excited to see how independence does this time though. With a pressurized fuel tank, I bet it’s going to be a good show.
The best content plus the best character, equals...THE BEST CHANNEL EVER!!!
Awesome to see u still have the 68 firebird always been my dream car since i was 7 yrs old n my friends brother bought 68 with a 454 big block was light blue (like the chevelle u fixed for a customer to be sold to somebody else) it also had black interior shackled up rear end n tubbed n shortned rear end straight piped from headers to back bumper first time i seen it run i was in love with it but wanted to say thanks for making these videos their Awesome n u speak to where a person can understand what u mean n explain it extremly well but thanks for not selling that firebird every time i see her i feel like im 7 again even if on video but watching on my wifes phone right now but always watch on my phone when its not broken thanks tho for your videos as well
Your sons comment on the giant carb was priceless! A motorhead mechanic in the making. Mini Vicegrips for now! Lol!
You're a one of a kind dude.. Everything you need for any build should be sponsored... Keep at it bro..
Appreciate it
Bentley is precious! He obviously loves being with dad and is becoming quite a mechanic. Thanks for the family friendly channel. Blessings.
Great family man great wrench honest godfearing genuine american i got a old 76 vette id let him run thru in a heartbeat!!!!
The metamorphosis is beautiful to watch, you truly have a talent and passion for what you do. As a dad of 3 now grown men, seeing your son helping you and working on his own, warms the heart. "I'll be dipped!" So close to 1 MILLION subs, cold snacks on me
I love how I get O’Reilly adds staring Derek all the time now! Best commercial around!
Well. I believe Independence is starting to become a ride good enough for the girls we don't date.
Never change Derek. Me and my daughters love watching your videos.
That big block Chevy SOUNDS GOOD! What a build! I can hardly wait till the next video comes! Stay safe and have a great trip!
She sounds so good brother, well done. Thank you for working those late nights and long days to entertain us. We truly appreciate it and absolutely adore the channel and your wonderful family. God bless you guys, and have fun in Florida. Feed her some extra onions for me!
It’s lunch time, perfect time to watch a VGG video at work.

"...so I broke out the Tonya, Harding that is, and started calibrating the..." has got to be one of my favorite lines of yours!

just imagine the inside jokes thru tonyas family 🤣🤣🤣🤣
A guy likes watching a good UA-cam video and when a feller puts up one about one of them thar 540's well then, a guy needs to enjoy a cold snack and special quiet time to fully appreciate a fellers hard work. Well done! Congrats on the new shop and channel growth also.
Man, this channel has come so far since the early days! Good job! We’re still here! And I’m sold btw, I’m buying a bad ass blue print racing engine for my car!
“Independence is back”. Wow those words bring chills to a guy. Glad you kept the valve covers. So close to a milli9n subscribers I cans smell it,,,awesome stuff.
Thanks Cory
When a dad uses that classic line “don’t tell your mother” and what’s the first thing his son goes and does? So, a thinking guy must always have a diversion in place.

My wife was out one day. I was on C.L seen a truck called the guy. It was right up the street. Set up a tow meet the tow driver there. Me and my son. I told him not to tell his mom. We got home she was there. He didn't have to tell her. The tow truck did. I got the look my boy looked at me and ran to his room.
Great to see quality home grown engineering backed up by a phenomenal commitment by the manufacturer. Folks like that deserve our support.
I do appreciate all you and your families hard work for our enjoyment. Nice job stomping out all that work in such a time crunch.!!!!
That's awesome she's back together. And Dad this Carbarater is as big as my head . Love it . Good luck and Derrick stay blessed.
Derrick, I suggest do a rethink on the duct tape firewall. An hour of tin snip and pop rivet work is worth it. A fire inside the cab is beyond bad.
I think he said it was "carbon fiber"...is that fireproof?
That kustom carbon fiber is quick release to shoot some flame stop it right into the engine bay Incase of an unexpected flame condition
@@LeObsidianCraft At speed it will turn the inside of that car into a blast furnace. burns are no joke.
@@gailynbrock5204 Its duck tape. And no its about as flame prof as a paper bag
Yeah, the duct tape covers are a terrible idea. He'll probably regret that sooner rather than later! 😅
Great Odin’s raven! I sure would like to see y’all further build that there Chevelle Independence with that forced induction big block 540. I sure will enjoy watching that beast liberate all that rubber from those tires. Seems like a a fella could corral all those ponies make a plan to head on down to the Big Bend Open Road Race next year. Likely to use less tires and go a heck of a lot faster.
Make my heart warm see that lil feller turning wrenches,i like the way you include your family in your videos.
I'm going to use Derek's favorite catch phrase to describe that engine: well I'll be dipped!👍👍😂😂😂😂
1000hp's! makes a fella go weak at the knees!
Where's that come from anyway? Dilly bars? Tobacco? Chrome? Fun Dip? I have no idea. Could be anything I suppose.
This has to be my favourite car on this channel.
I'm an Irish man in Ireland 🇮🇪(well where else would I be) watching this, and it makes me proud to be American when this fires up and recycles tires.
Keep up the great content sir.
This is the best comment I’ve seen yet! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Everything about this car and your plans and your channel is perfect. From how you found it, saved it, kept the paint job, and put those rad valve covers on.
I love your interprative engineering run-through of how the frame is going to adjust to the upgrades.
When you speak your knowledge and experience really comes forth. Love seeing the young boy involved. Creating memories for a life time. Great explanations on what you are doing and why your doing it. You make it so inexperienced motor heads like me can understand it. Love your videos, can hardly wait until you reach that 1 Million mark.
Thanks Thomas
I can envision Bentley still working with you and doing his own builds 20 years from now. He just seems to have the heart and head for it.
if i had a nickle for every time my dad said "dont tell your mother"id be able to aford putting him in a home.Ha!! NO just kidding !!its so kick ass to see independence breathe again!ready for the next chapter in her life.rock on derick AND jess.
Glad to see you got it back together. Really good to see your whole family working together to get Independence back together. I’m a huge fan and can not wait to see what is happening next. Thanks for taking us along.
My first timing chain swap happened on a 72 chevelle 307 on the road in front of my apt. Watching Derek on these episodes makes me think about some mighty fine times in my life. Wrenching on my daily driver was sometimes rewarding and sometimes frustrating, but it was mine and the sense of accomplishment that came from the attempt...priceless.
Can't wait to see this beast shredding the pad this weekend leaving tomorrow night from Michigan 🤘
1+++++
Thanks again for the amazing content. So happy you keep it professional and show us what we need to see. With an amazing family, great ideas and just keeping it real. Thank you 😊
Those valve covers look awesome on that motor 👌
Derek: "Just don't tell Jessica..."
Me: "Has he been hanging out with Demo Ranch?!?"
Sweet action. That blueprint motor is going to be a ripper. The clearance issues on the headers are so common. I. Always feel bad about it, but they dyno tested headers on engine masters and smashed the crap out of a set. It took really getting mean to them for any loss of power
i was surprised how fucked up those headers got before they could even see a difference.
Engine masters is a real class act that video was unbelievable
In hospital with covid for past 12 days. Ty for your content. Made me feel better
This build is amazing. Derek and your family are amazing. I've been watching the channel for a few years now. And its amazing that when you had 50k subscribers and now almost 1 million, you have never changed. And that's why I and everyone love about you. You're obviously very successful and prolly making really good youtube money. And that hasn't changed you. Its only made the content even better. You make a guy feel like he could accomplish the things you do, cause you carry yourself like one of the "dudes" or one of my friends. I guess what Im saying is you don't act better than. Your videos bring me and so many people joy. Your family is everything that is right with America in these challenging times. Love you and your family.
SO VERY TRUE!!! 100%, Derek and Jessica are what's right with America!!!
Looks like a feller is an early bird and caught another kick ass Vice Grip Garage episode! Keep up the fantastic work Derek and family!!
I literally gasped with excitement reading the title!!! Independence is the epitome of everything that is America and I LOVE IT!!! Thank you so much Derek your a good man for giving her the love she deserves and the entertainment we’re all eagerly awaiting everyday!!!
I can’t thank you enough for all the time and money you spend keeping everyone in video land entertained. I have learned more from your videos than any other videos I have watched. Thank you sir.
I remember my first automotive repair job. RC car I ran into a wall and damaged the steering. Thing takes eight AA bat trees every 10 minutes, but still works 20 years later. Always good to know you got the little ones involved. Glad I learned "You break it you fix it early." All the best to you and yours brother.
I think Derek has a twin, or has split personalities. I watched him yesterday walk an off ramp and try to recover a ball to a clutch, and complain about an expensive 3 dollar widget, and today he buys a 1.235 million dollar engine and then drive to Georgia to fill his cart with another 1.543 million dollars worth of goodies. Yesterday was wrapping plug wires with aluminum foil to keep them from burning through. Gotta Love Derek.
🤣
So glad the valve covers stayed, love the message!
I remember that video. And was really impressed at the amount of motors they had sitting ready for delivery and everyone of them had been individually speckt and paperwork on all of them.
This and the previous episode on this car are some of your best yet! Really enjoyed them, thanks!
“jesica is busy packing the trailer”. What a trooper she is!

Thank you very much!
Aside from saving another GM A-Body from the shredder, you've made something iconic. Independence is a tribute to the muscle car era, to hot rod tradition, and to the USA. It's functional sculpture, brutally beautiful art.
And The Beautiful Valve Covers Personify the whole Car ! Perfectly Righteous ! Can't Wait to hear Independence Roar !

Hey Derek and family. Thanks for the outstanding content. I just wanted to tell you and your family how great this channel is. I never get tired of watching VGG
Man...Derek's enthusiasm for this engine is off the roof! He is just plain geekin' on this thing...then to see him walking around Summit racing...gonna do some damage to a feller's waller.
This channel is real glimpse into what this country is. Family, hard work, good humor is the best of us. Hard to believe when all media sources are trying to convince us that America is toxic. I choose to think the vast majority of us aspire to VGG values. Thanks Derek
Well said my friend!
"I mean, you can't even see" (the light dimpling). Pure comedic gold.
I love your revival/driving it x miles back home videos, but it's also super cool to watch you build on stuff, man!

Good lord. The amount of work a guy puts into his vehicle in only a few days is absolutely astonishing. I don't know how he does it.
I love this channel it's got all the different flavors of content I learn so much watching this channel and also enjoy the road trips with the family and the revivals and Derek makes you feel like he's talking right to you such a great guy
You did what you could with the OG engine you built, time and resources just were not there to revive it right now so your new Blueprint engine is a very logical step especially with that warranty they offer. And I think the valve covers transferred over look absolutely beautiful on it.
Another good episode Derrick! I love the humor you add to doing the most tedious and basic stuff. “ I’ll show you the right way to do something the wrong way “
It's crazy that you still have the Chevelle. I remember watchin the video when you first pick it up which was the first video i watched on your channel. Youve had me hook since then bro. I really like how you do explain everything to what you do and you humor is really good. Youve got a great channel, 😁
