I fish my local creek daily, which is more like a small river. I've been hunting for a 5lb bass for years. I finally found one with a 6 inch magdraft, but it popped off with a head shake out of water. I have been fishing the area for 5 days now. She seems to have pushed all the other bass out of the small hole. I got her to finally bite a 4 inch whale yesterday, but my belly weighted hook didn't even touch her. She is super smart. I have been lightly fishing for her everyday. Spinner baits, swimbaits, jigs, glides... this fish has causes me so much frustration.
Same here, I have a pond behind my neighborhood and I’ve been struggling to land this 5lber got him to bite on a jig, the pond is only about 2 acres, but locating him is hard, and he only bites around 4-6 o’clock
That’s funny, same here. Except my local river is more of a creek where I’m at. It is 130 miles long though, and turns into a true river. On my end a 1-2 liber is average. One day while walking the river I spotted a 6-7lb smallie just cruising . I couldn’t get her to bite a whopper plopper for the life of me, it was the only lure I had with me. I stopped taking one pole and lure after that.
5 years bro? There are no other large fish for you to chase where you live? Coming from an angler this sounds like an unhealthy obsession bro ✌️😅 best way to get over a big girl is get onto another big girl 👍😃🎣🐳💯🤙 No pun intended lol
I am dealing almost with the same, but only i have this with a pike that is over 130cm. This pike is making me crazy i have had about 7 encounters with her already. One time biting whole swimbait of my underspinjig. I had her on the hook about 4 times and 2 times she turned away just before my feet. Frustrating my goal is to absolutely catch this pike in November
So true Matt. I used to watch the weather forecast to plan when I'd fish. Now I watch the weather forecast to plan what to wear. Fishing regardless of conditions has led to some great days for me on the water this Fall.
Matt you are so right about that morning bite.Im just off cape cod .It gets cold and that morning bit is there right till ice .We dont get much ice.All my really big fish pictures no leaves on trees or insane colors.
Thank you, Matt! Sounds like some great tips...of course, down here in Florida, our "winter" is way different than most places...it's all about those cold fronts. These "seasonal" videos you do must be a huge challenge, as you're presenting to a world-wide audience, but I think you do a great job under the circumstances. Thanks again and good luck out there!
It's funny because at work I get all excited when I see rain or lots of wind coming on my off days and I'll be talking to one of my coworkers and they'll be like "that's a shame it's going to crappy weather while your off". They just don't understand why I'm so happy about the bad weather. 2 days ago was supposed to rain, high winds and cloudy all day I never seen a boat. Today was sunny and a little windy and there was boats everywhere lol. Tomorrow is supposed to be super cloudy a little windy and possibly rain, I can't wait.
On that comfy fishing tip, I went fishing this past week in the middle of a light/medium rain. Had about two or three fifteen minute pour downs, and the fish started HOPPING. The biggest I got was a three and 3/4 pound drum. But man i'm back to write the other tips down
I noticed this personally last weekend. My pattern is diminishing so it’s time to dial in. I only have saturdays so if it’s crumby or not I’m fishing . Crumby days seem to be my favorite
Morning, thank you for all the quality FREE info guys you guys have been my go 2 for years now... I've had some success speed cranking and throwing a jerkbait lately, speaking of the glide bait what water temps will you guys stop throwing the glide?
I just joined the 6 pounder club this weekend with a big healthy smallmouth on the Dirty Jigs Guppy Head with a 2.8" Keitech FAT (Electric Shad) on the Dobyns Sierra 740/Curado BFS! Talk about a blast, that girl had me sweating! Had to play her gently with 8lb Super Sniper & some good old fashioned prayer! 🤣 I was throwing the Tactical Underspin as I almost always throw a blade in the fall, but the lake was calm & glassy & I kept having followers & short strikes but none wanted to commit. Figured I'd try losing the blade & 2 casts later I was hooked into the 6.08lb football!
Matt i fished the last 30 days at night only from 12am to 6am up here in NY and beat my PB twice doing it within a weeks time. Both the big ones Were caught at 4am and i lost another giant at 630 just as the sun was coming up. I believe night and crack arse of dawn are def the time to be out there right now based on my results but then again nighttime is always the right time. I will also add both with one a big buzzbait but that pattern is def overwith
What about getting a reaction from a swing head? Similar to a crank bait reaction? Rather a jig, using a swing head to retrieve fast and getting them to bite in cooler water?
Great stuff as always. On these california reservoirs its hard to get em going on reaction. Its been 90% finesse for me the last 2 months. I always throw a crank/jerkbait/a-rig this time of year and some days itll happen but more often than not i have to slow waaay down.
I enjoyed your video. Very informative. My problem is I just don't go. Maybe if I lived close to you guys, I would go more. Now, to find the fish, I thought all you needed to do was turn on FFS and presto there they are. 😂
Damn that looked like a 7 to 8 lb smallie on a deep dive square bill. Tim i used the retrieve you suggjest and no bites sadly. 😢 i went back to simple fishing. A 1/10 oz egg weight then a 7 inch leader with size 1 baitholder hook. Ill use a zero z too or a 4 to 5 inch charlies mullet colored fluke with trophy bass. Game on then a 7 inch leader size 1 baitholder hook with a bobber 11 to 13 inches above where i tie leader to main line. Then a dropshot. Then topwater lure or a spinner lure crappie jig. Ive caught a lot more consistently with my set ups. Topwater wake bait buzz bait or kvd splash. It works better for me. 😊❤
These Bass are on some other time because they've been coralling and feeding on this congregation of shad for many weeks and then they just up and left the baitfish... weather changed, nighttime lows dropped and the shad and me were left by our selves. Got 0 bites yesterday and 2 Bass boils... the bass all shifted because of the weather... they weren't even considering the corralled shad... they just went deeper.
Think of it as trying for a 10 point buck. If you were told to be in the stand at 4am in the bitter cold, and you will have a shot at that buck, you will be in that stand
I'm convinced fish know there's very little human pressure coming after them on cold blistery uncomfortable days... so they take these "harsher" conditions and make a free feeding opportunity out of it and that's why the big smart tight lipped ones come out during these pre-storm conditions or even frontal conditions.
Please share the spinning combo you used for that vision 110! I love throwing jerkbaits on a spinning rod and want to know what setup (including line) you use. PLEASE 🙏🏼
When you have a abrupt weather change from high 70s going down to low 60s do you give it a couple days for the weather change or does it not make much difference thanks and enjoyed the video.
@@831BASSTACTICZa bunch of people I've asked on forums used a 6:4:1 or a 7:1:1 for non bladed and 6:4:1 or lower for bladed due to the blades creating drag coming through the water column.
Quick early morning question Matt ( or Tim) my local fishery is a small dammed up creek with a few trenches along the edges that max out at about 8 ft deep during normal water levels. We are about a foot and a half down currently but will bass winter in those holes or because there isn’t going to be much difference in temperatures will they be willing to roam into “humps” or flats near these trenches to feed even if they are a few feet shallower?
I don’t spend much time fishing creeks, but I would assume they would spend most of their time in the deeper water while it’s cold. If you have a day where the sun is warm and there isn’t much wind they may pull up into the shallower water since they don’t have to move very far, but I’d focus on the deep👍
Uncomfortable days are the best days. Nobody else wants to fish in it, so you get the lake to yourself. 🤣 Only the die hards get out there when it sucks.

Yeah I'm near Sarasota cold is relative but I'm noticing movement. Hard to track as a bank guy
I love the first footage he shows is sunny out with light cloud cover and heavy dressed with FN Flip flops on!! 😂😂
I have always prayed for bad weather on the days I get to fish. The worse the weather the more I like it always have always will.

You can get a feed response from any bait it all depends on how you are fishing it ex.cracking a tube

What do u do, if your bass go to Florida for the winter? Ohio bass have been seen traveling south around x-mas

What day are y’all releasing the holiday buyers guide series?
What is a good rod to fish the chad shad and other chopping glides in the Expride and Gloomis line? Thanks
Go below Wheeler dam after this weekend’s rain storm…🐟🐟
Mat wearing cold weather bibs and flip flops at the same always trips me out

@tactical Matt and Tim: what about night fishing this late in the season? North east? It's the only time I can fish, after the kids go to sleep.
I think it's time to come out with the tactical glide !!!

@tacticalbassin hey matt I know you said early morning is key but what about the middle of the day? Isn’t that when most big fish are caught?

Going to the lake right now to sling some glides.
Trick Shad for the win.?
I’ve had the Chad Shad tied on all year. MONEY 💰!!
Do you consider barotrauma in the winter?

They have videos that goes into detail for each of them with this info. Worth the watch.
Where do the fish go in the winter when waters are near freezing

Pro tip: super glue that black bead onto the shaft of the hook. Otherwise look the bead in a swimbait and it will not spin.
They look like quality under spin. If all you get is one for that price thats high way robbery for what you get charged. 😮
I make 4 of 4 mistakes😂😂😂 yesterday was the last beautiful day of the year in my area, I didn’t catch anything
