When I was teaching English in Korea, I encountered a lot of people who had literally never seen a white person in real life before, and my eyes freaked people out. One of my students told me that I had "scary" eyes. I asked what she meant and she said, "They not people-color eyes; they cat-color eyes." One of my preschoolers looked up into my face and in a trembling voice gasped out, "Teacher! Your eyes! Green! WHY!?!?!" Another time I was sitting in a pizza shop just waiting for my take-out order when a girl walked in, did a double take, and cried out, "Your eyes are green!" I just muttered, "Yes, I know." A friend later said that I should have acted all freaked out and demanded a mirror to see for myself.

I have one eye, with poor peripheral vision, so if someone waved at me from a certain angle or tries to get my attention in a way I can’t tell they’re there, I get pretty weird reactions. I once dropped my wallet, and this lady was kind enough to pick it up and give it back to me. But she tried to get my attention by waving her hand near my face, obviously I was clueless, and I do have a bad habit of spacing out. She proceeded to rant about how rude kids these days were for ignoring “us old folk”, and every time I tried to tell her the situation in between her sentences she’d just get louder, I got my wallet back after about ten minutes but I _could not_ stop laughing after that, she was such a character

Okay the suicide comments really bother me. I have severe depression and before I was properly medicated I attempted suicide many times. That was due to a problem with my brain, not my life! Depression is a disorder, not a point of view. People who think living with a disability makes you depressed are probably depressed themselves and projecting. They think they must earn their sadness somehow through circumstance. Depression doesn't discriminate, and there's no obstacle that justifies suicide. Okay rant over. I really appreciate how you brush things like that off though. Your attitude is awesome and I aspire to be as understanding.

It’s funny what kids can be traumatized by. When I was about 7 or 8, I was shopping with my mom and I saw this elderly lady with a twisted leg in some kind of brace. It freaked me out so badly that I was terrified of the dark after that. Even with a nightlight on, if I had to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, I would call for my mom down the hallway and she would have to get up from bed and see me to the bathroom (lest the Twisted Leg Lady attack me). I was traumatized by that memory for years. If children have endured trauma in their young lives beforehand, such as I did, it doesn’t take much to set them off. God bless! ❤️❤️

He's trying to teach and tries showing the class how to position their fingers on the keyboard. So my dad's friend tries to explain that he can't do it because he only has three fingers and this teacher loses it. He's yelling at him to go out and threatening detention until he says, 'no, really, look,' and holds up his hand. And this guy is just horrified, thinking that he could lose his job over this, meanwhile my dad and his friends are just losing their minds. Its one of my dad's favourite stories.

OMG the car wreck thing reminded me! Johnny Eck (professional sideshow entertainer with sacral agenesis) said that once he was out riding with his brother and a friend and they saw a road accident. They stopped and Johnny posed next to the car like he'd been squished in half and waited until the "nurse" was running up saying, "There's somebody here!" and he popped up onto his hands and she screamed and bowled over backwards.
Thinking about it now I'm sure the story was BS as Johnny told it since I doubt that Johnny and Rob and their friend were callous enough to pull a stunt like that at a real road accident scene, but I'm guessing that Johnny probably did get the idea to pose that way and try to convince somebody that it was a road accident.

Speaking of reactions when i encounter people with special needs and disabilities i can't help but to feel sorry for them, i don't say anything out loud and i know i probably shouldn't feel bad but i just do for some reason which is funny cuse the individual is probably happier than me after all.

I mean can't really help how we feel sometimes, all we can do is ask ourselves how we would want to be treated in the reverse roll, which I guess is true for most situations lol

    Dance club thing killed me.
As for the life was terrible guy: why the hell is someone trying to convince you, a guy living your own life who honestly seems to me is happy as anyone else (definitely happier than me) that your life is terrible. What a nutcase.
No crazy reactions I'm just very boring. Usually negative ones like looks (I'm a woman and hate make up) or something like weirdo even though I don't look different according to anyone else. So weird.
Kids are so easy to scare on Halloween. One year I dressed In a skeleton costume and mask and bashed my face against a window. Most kids screamed and laughed but one got traumatized. The adult supervisor laughed hard.

People sometimes don’t understand that you’re capable to have a good life and be disabled to them not walking means it’s game over. I normally don’t get lots of rude comments for being paralyzed in a wheelchair but once there was a woman with her young son that stopped to ask what happened to me so I told them even though I could’ve said mind your own business I tried to be polite. I say I was in a car accident and the kid got sad like he didn’t want to hear it so I told him that it’s fine I’m okay I survived it. Then the mom looked at me and said no that’s not okay stop trying to scare me and my son. It was at a store I frequently shop at though so the cashiers know me and reprimanded her for approaching me to begin with.

My disability, is with my voice. I have a high pitched voice, than startles alot of people. Usually I get, got laryngitis? Or what happened to your voice. Kids usually say, why do i talk like that. One person told me i should see a doctor. Why? It doesnt bother me. I guess it bothered them.

@@icemancometh8679 i wish i knew. At the moment i can only guess. I believe it is caused by allergies. Most of the time, my post nasal drip is extremely think, so one drop of water ends up stretching up to sometimes a foot long. Since the voical cords are very delicate, having think mucus hanging on the vocal cords may cause irritation of the vocal cords. This week a doctor, told me i might have polyps on the vocal cords, probably due to the allergies, but without visiting an ent doctor their guess is just as good as mine. If i could afford health insurance, then i might visit the doctor to get it checked out, otherwise until that day happens my voice may stay where it is now. To be honest, i don't care what my voice sounds like, it is how i am made. It doesnt bother me.

@@edwardcornell1263 on the show botched they were talking to this lady and she said she had a nose job and they said any fluid discharge? She was yes and they asked when? She goes this morning. She was leaking spinal fluid! so I guess you never had surgery so. You wouldn't want it to get worse, especially if it hasn't been like this all your life. Maybe Google your symptoms.

    • @edwardcornell1263
      @edwardcornell1263 4 роки тому

@@icemancometh8679 post nosal drip is not spinal fluid, everyone has post nosal drip. It is what keeps the back of the throat lubricated. This is normal. When you get a sore throat, it is because the throat is missing that liquid in keeping it moist. With that being said, allergies to a human body is your bodies reaction to something, whether mold, water, dander, etc. When the molecules get sucked into the body and we are allergic to it, the body starts putting up its defenses to fight off the foreign substance. If a weed module gets breathed into my nose and If i am allergic to it, my body will want to get rid of it. My post nasal drip is string cheese thick, this is how my body defends against foreign substances. So first, i will need an allergy test, to see what is causing thr thick mucus. Step two, is to avoid that as much as possiable. Step three would mostly be medication to minimize the allergies. Step four would be to see if i have any damage on the voical cords from all of that. Btw, i never had nose surgery, so the chances on get spinal cord fluid for me, would be rare.

I think my craziest reaction was to a fall I had. My knees hyper extend so one time we were playing kickball the orchestra I'm in. And I rolled my ankle into home like really bad, but cause it rolled while I was jumping when I landed my knee went backwards like it does sometimes. And I just fell over and wasn't getting back up (mostly to overplay the fall for comedy and because hurt like nothing else I had experienced yet) and the director just squealed really high and loud. She ran over to me like I was dying. And she starts checking out my leg. She says
"OMG Brady your knee is broken"
"Wdym this?" I say as I bend it backwards
    "They do that"

I have no serious illness or disability, but I have shaky hands, and sometimes it gets really crazy (it's probably genetic as my mother has the same issue). Especially when I'm under stress, but also randomly, my hands shake like hell and I can't do anything about it but wait it out. One time, I was helping at our community at the bar, and my hands got all shaky, and it got difficult for me to pour drinks since I spilled a lot. One lady thought it was necessary to tell me to have a drink so I would calm down and not be so nervous. I could have punched her, really. Making comments like that, even if you think you are hilarious, are just rude. Like, you see someone who is nervous and you make a light-hearted comment - that's fine. You see someone who is not nervous but has shaky hands and obviously struggles with basic things and you make a personal remark about that - not fine.

In high school I had to perform my dance that I had missed, I was in dance class and our final was to perform in the dance show , well I had missed it and I went to school with majority African American, in Hispanics and as I was getting ready to perform in front of a panel I went to the bathroom there was a two other girls who needed to perform and when I went inside the bathroom the girl was started, I asked her why she reacted like that and she said that the other girl told her that I was white and expected a white girl to walk in, I guess I could get why she was started because this was after school so not many people would be at school but I can’t believe that I, someone who looks very much Hispanic or Latino was described as a Caucasian , it continues to baffle me, well that’s about as craziest reaction I’ve had
