Making myself a cup of matcha is one of the things I look forward to most in the morning. It’s almost peaceful, in a way - and I feel so energized after.
The most important ingredient is, of course, the matcha. You want to use the highest quality for drinking, which is ceremonial grade. It is pricy, but you’re going to save so much money compared to spending $8 each time at a cafe.

For today's matcha I used soy milk with a splash of homemade maple syrup (the best kind). On most days though, I’ll drink it the traditional way with just water and matcha. Experiment and see which flavor combinations you like best!

@@neethuraju2355 yee, but its also got different components than coffee! my stomach gives me hell if i drink coffee on an empty stomach (or just in general sometimes lol) but matcha lattes have yet to make me suffer like that

I'm a barista and I agree you're way better off making matcha at home, it's way overpriced at most cafes and it's really easy to make
Espresso drinks are different there really is a lot of know-how, technique and even science into making good coffee
But making a good matcha latte at home is pretty simple, assuming you don't need the fancy latte art
Hi barista, so after this video i decided to go and try to make it at home. I could only find packed powder, already sweetened and all I had to do is pour the packet into milk. It's fine, but it's definitely not the best cup of matcha latte I've had. Can you give me some advice on how to better make it? Why did she put the matcha in water and mix first? Is straining necessary? I am looking for good quality matcha powder at the moment so it should be less processed than the one i have right now. If you have some brands you recommend too i would really appreciate it! Anyways, thank you in advance
@@Winteramen hey so you might want to look for higher quality matcha, it might be kind of pricey but you'll be saving money in the long run
We use Rishi brand which is a popular barista choice, because it's high quality and comes unsweetened
It is also a powder as all matcha is ground to a powder
The reason she mixed it with water is to rehydrate it to make it a liquid and the reason she strains it is to make sure it's as smooth as possible and to get out any clumps
You can skip the straining step, if you mix it well enough with your matcha whisk
You're going to want to use hot water
I recommend about 2 teaspoons to an ounce of hot water and then add your milk of choice

My absolute favorite combination is matcha with vanilla soy milk. Trust me it tastes like sunshine

@@hanaeazougagh5719 yeah I used be barista and we would add mango syrup instead of the vanilla makes a huge difference trust me you can get it on Amazon or at a specialty store

Since i like the flavor of matcha but need some sweetness, I don't add maple syrup or honey. I add Simple syrup. To make it, add a 1:1 ratio of water and sugar to a pot and mix until all of the sugar is dissolved. If you like it thinner, make it a 1 part sugar, 2 part water and vice versa.

My favourite recipe for a 180-250ml glass:
-Matcha Powder (ofc)
-ice cold milk
-80 degrees Celsius hot water to dissolve the Matcha with a bamboo brush like seen here
-Monin Vanilla Syrup to sweeten (one european teaspoon)
-maybe one or two ice cubes or just use the fridge

Yes! Making homemade matcha lattes changed my life haha. Will never buy one at a cafe again cuz homemade is superior. It only takes like two min for me to make and I’d say costs about $1.50 total to make 16 oz. They are so freaking delicious and I prefer over coffee. Also I don’t have a whisk thing so I use the ninja bullet and it’s much easier lol.

That’s cuz Starbucks’ matcha is a low grade easily dissolvable one and it’s sweetened. Real high grade matcha is super clumpy and more bitter.

I agree. I drink matcha (latte) almost everyday and I prefer ceremonial grades that I make my matcha with, but the café uses café/culinary grade and usually mix the powder together with sugar, which I don't really like. I still buy matcha on cafés, if I have really cravings for it though.

I have wanted to try matcha and the only thing I’d tried was matcha mochi. Got some Tazo matcha and fell in love! With 23g of sugar per cup I knew it wasn’t going to be my long term matcha experience, but figured that was the tastiest way to try it lol. I bought some matcha powder and today I made a matcha latte with soy milk and Splenda! Looking forward to making better lattes everyday and enjoying this anxiety-soothing drink as a replacement for my Stok Cold Brew. (No shade towards Stok, I love Stok. Too much so to the point I’ll chug 20oz+ of it and be panicked at my desk shaking 😂)
