Warframe is a top tier example of how to do live service, it not being here angers me
It's criminal that Warframe doesn't figure on this list when it does everything a Live Service game should do, and more

@Yinzermakesvids How is it predatory? Except for a few skins among the thousands they have, everything can be gotten in game. Destiny 2 is on the list and that is a predatory game, luring you with microtransactions and paid DLCs, but not explicitly telling you what you need to get all the content

Not having warframe here is almost ciminal...

It’s not like the list was make last night or something. Filming, scripting, editing. All this means it was likely completed at least a day or two before the Helldivers 2 PSN problems came to light
HD2 already sold 8mm copies and 250K upset PC gamers refunding aren't going to crack their (or Sony's) nut on that one.

Square Enix's, Eidos Montreal's, Embracer Group's Marvel's The Avengers game: "Hey!"
Warner Brother's, Rockteady's, DC's Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League : "Hey!"
To be fair, Eidos Montreal was only a support studio for Marvel's Avengers, as the main developer was Crystal Dynamics (who deserve more criticism for how they handled their game). Eidos Montreal developed Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, and that game's critical reception was much better than Marvel's Avengers.
Nikke is the ONLY gacha that has succeeded and kept me invested in its lore so I have to give it props for that. Not to mention being one of the few in the genre that actually listens to community feedback and is generous with free pulls...
The gameplay is absolute trash could not stay after that
Does Splatoon count as a Live Service Game?
I don't think. The servers for 1 are now down, but the game is still playable. Same goes for the others if you play offline.
I feel like it's overshadowed by it's status as a shooter

Great thing about live service you can find one you’re into and pretty much play it all the time
No mention of one of the best and most underrated live service BRs with a unique approach and theme to the genre? I’m talking about Naraka Bladepoint, and I will defend and promote it until the day that either I die or the servers shut down. If you haven’t played it, why? Go play it!
I play Genshin and Apex. Alternating between the two depending on seasons and updates.
Genshin Impact is one of the Greatest Anime Open World games of All Time, but because I haven't started it yet, I think it's late in 2024 and I'll wait for it's Nintendo Switch relase, for me Tower of Fantasy on mobile, PC and PS4/PS5 is better and my favourite Anime Action Open World adventure game now! By the way, because you made videos about The 20 BEST PS5 and Nintendo Switch games, would you make a video about The 20 BEST Xbox/PC games maybe PC games? There's no such thing as Games with Live Services that don't suck, Live Service sucks in general, no matter what game it is, because these companies are delusional, thinking "Live Services and not owning games is the future of gaming". Like, no, it isn't. You're saying that even if we have the physical disc, we still don't own it?? Your game servers aren't going to last forever, you know. And if your game lacks singleplayer or an offline mode, it just means that you don't even care about the very games you publish, or the developers that made those games.
Live service games suck, not owning games suck.
I know some people are going to bash that Helldivers 2 is on this list. I was not happy about that at first either, until I remembered the name of the video. Live Service Games that don't suck. Helldivers 2 as a GAME doesn't suck at all. It's a GREAT game. What DOES suck is the "live service" itself, by requiring a PSN account now, after six months of not requiring it. This is forcing exposure to a database that gets hacked every year and a half or so, not to mention essentially bricking the game for anyone who bought it in countries and regions that does not allow PSN. Don't blame the game, blame the publisher.
What does a live service game mean? Like you have to have game pass or PlayStation plus to play it?
Usually a game that has “seasons” “battle pass” or an ever updating story.
Genshin Impact doesn't require those two.

@@zachtwilightwindwaker596 Well, I did say “Usually” which implies there are exceptions. Also, Genshin does have Battles Passes, monthly passes, and an ever updating story thru patches. These aren’t bad things just traits of the model.

In terms of Genshin vs star rail imo Honkai star rail does the live service better. It's got better reward system, actively listens to it's community, constant and helpful updates, and honestly having better characters and storylines
Reward system I agree, the updates I think both do well but star rails gets a slight edge with making it less time consuming. Story and character wise both are equally great
I outright don't want to buy or support games that do any of these:
a) require a server connection to play or progress with no offline option
b) have unethical monetization such as outrageously priced cosmetics or total DLC
c) use FOMO via limited-time unlocks
d) intentionally make progression a grind/chore to encourage convenience items/passes
e) add cosmetic or premium currency monetization after review windows with no prior announcement of this
I don't care how "good" their gameplay is. Many might have good gameplay. I care more about content, value, and having access to everything by playing at my own pace. The above practices sour the experience that potentially good gameplay might provide.
I wish there were laws requiring direct and visible warnings of these and hefty fines and required allowed returns for games when companies start this crap after launch.

Look whatever is happening with the pc port and steam or whatever its not the studios fault but its the publisher hell you can even see the ceo of arrowhead struggling to put out the fires

But its game mechanic of wishing characters instead of obtaining characters through quests or progressing through the main story sucks.

People need to remember: it's not Helldivers 2's or Arrowhead's fault that Sony decided to be a bunch of greedy idiots. Helldivers 2 is still a great game with great gameplay, a steady stream of new content, micro-transactions that are very easy to ignore and a very vocal and engaged development team.
I still love and play the game, don't hate the game just because the publisher's being a moron.

The moment you said Helldivers 2, I clicked on the dislike button. At first, the game sold like gangbusters, but the moment Phony requires you to sign in to the LameStation account, the storm hit the shit ship. Thus refunds are being doled out as the ship sinks. Plus, I'm not a fan of Fortnite. Never played it. Never liked the footage on UA-cam. Not my thing.
